It's totally insane, and I can't wait to move back to a city where my commute is less than 30 mins by public transportation, and even less if I drive or bike. Suburban living is the worst, and I don't understand why anyone does it. City life all the way.Aparnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04815795100449240638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28060897.post-67257884356533369972014-03-04T23:35:45.761-05:002014-03-04T23:35:45.761-05:00I just came to your post and reading above thing i...I just came to your post and reading above thing it is very impressive me and it is very nice blog. I'm up every day at 6:00 and onto the train until 7:45 when I switch trains to the underground subway for 30 minutes. I should have an 8 hour day but it has become a 12-13 hour day depending on delays. I hate it and I spend every day of my life hating it. It's been six months and I'm about to throw in the towel. I can't imagine doing this for years like some of you have done.

I went from being able to walk my dogs and come home before the sun set to literally never seeing the sun. I'm also not paid enough to live even comfortably in the city without getting a 2nd job, so this gig is just very.....painful.

Hopefully i'll find a new job very quickly and end this madness. It's been the worst experience of my life to date.Murronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14748100998398452585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28060897.post-88005527546495203482013-03-04T17:24:27.382-05:002013-03-04T17:24:27.382-05:00My commute is about 15 minutes cycling. But it's my business... my deal! So I find it's worth it. I take one day per week working remote access from home (love the internet) and all Friday's off in the Summer. So, I guess it's OK. I admire people who simply "just make it happen" and I am envious of the folks who are happy and content with a shorter commute or even making less money. I hope that makes sense... but for some reason, the money motivates me to "just make it happen". Enjoyed the comments. My wife and I own a home in a small rural community on the New York/Pennsylvania border and I work in Manhattan. I'm out the door at 7am, and from there it's a tad under 2 hours to get to the George Washington Bridge. Then I take GWB to the FDR, then to a cheap parking garage right on the East River. My walk from there is about a mile, fifteen minutes. Get to my desk at 10am. Leave at 6pm, and am home at 9pm. Sometimes as early as 8:40.
