Definitely Mr. tiger Goes Wild by Peter Brown.
Goodnight Gorilla is a classic.
Chick and Pug by Jennifer Sattler.
Say Hello to Zoro by Carter Goodrich.
Please check out Chicken Thief by Beatrice Rodriguez, it is a wordless picture book that is so much fun to "read". Most of these books are interactive which I have found are a sure fire way of engrossing children in the art of story telling. Good luck. Some of their favorite books are the Yolen/Teague "How Does a Dinosaur..." books. I just introduced Where the Wild Things Are, which was a hit because they can gnash their teeth and roar their terrible roars along with the wild things!
They also love "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything", because the story repeats some motions that they can do with it (e.g., shoes that go 'clomp clomp', pants that go 'wiggle wiggle').
Okay, last one that stands out to me is the "Press Here" book - they'll even read it themselves to a group of kids and have everyone take turns pressing the dots.
I would also say - remember non-fiction! I'm not sure why, but our non-fiction tends to be heavy on the ocean and ocean animals, but our kids love them and can identify the animals. Plus, we have some cool magnet puzzles that go along with that theme, too.
Enjoy! :)Angelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12967590897901912949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28060897.post-33875091471045919992013-12-18T20:39:12.950-05:002013-12-18T20:39:12.950-05:00Thank you so much for sharing these lists!!
