Have a wonderful weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? We're having dinner with our long-lost friends from Austin tonight and then cuddling up with a teething Anton for the rest of the weekend. Poor bunny! Happy Father's Day to all the dads and dads-to-be out there. Hope you have a good one, and here are a few fun posts from around the web...

Great news: Mindy Kaling is writing another book.

How to boil an egg.

Losing an arm.

Bill Murray crashed an engagement photo shoot.

My friend Kendra—of nail polish and Greek yogurt fame—is having an Instagram stoop sale before she moves to California. Go forth!

LOVE these floral shoes.

(Also these jellies would be fun to try! What a flashback.)

Virgin America reimagines how we book travel.

Dumb and Dumber is coming out with a sequel. My family has quoted the first movie approximately one million times.

Made me laugh.

What an awesome hostess gift.

America vs. France: Who drinks the most wine?

Cute. (Read the caption, too.)

All my friends are talking about this book...

...Because of this book.

This Dad video made me tear up. Happy Father's Day. xo

I had to read Middlemarch in college English - more of a fall read instead of light and breezy summer stuff. Also, to boil an egg, put eggs in cold water, boil 12 minutes, run cold water over them for 5 minutes = awesome shells fall right off!

Thank you so much for sharing the transgender video!

I certainly understand the rationale behind not opening up comments on the transgender video that you posted. However, though it's not relevant to this post of links (which I'm looking forward to reading!), I have to say: thank you.

I'm a weepy mess after watching the video, but the tears are worth knowing about that amazing family and all the families like them that make the choice to truly love and accept every member of their family, even if they don't initially understand them.

The dad video was pretty awesome and also brought a tear to my eye.

The hostess gift was always a game we played at Cracker Barrel, the required stop for us Canadians when we were in the US!

I have a beat up old set at home, and it brings back such great memories. :)

p.s. happy you posted the transgender video too. So cute.

I'm not able to access the floral shoe link :)

Have a great weekend!

(Thanks for sharing that video, I'd seen it before but OMG I LOVED IT. Cried so hard.)

Joanna, you are really a wonderful gift for all of us. I love your links at the end of each week; I love your openness to the authenticity of love and life; and I love that you kept the comments closed on the previous post with the video of the family whose son is transgendered (I imagine to keep the haters at bay). It was such a moving and beautiful tribute to who we are compelled to be and what happiness comes from that. Thank you for sharing all that you do. Enjoy a fun weekend:)

Catherine Masi said it best. Thank you. Enjoy your weekend. xoxo

Middlemarch!!! You have no idea how excited I am to talk to someone (the internet!) about it. I read Middlemarch a few months back and felt like I stumbled on some secret incredible book no one else knew about! I tried to read "My Life in Middlemarch" but it took me so out of the world of Middlemarch I didn't enjoy it and quit. But I'm so glad others are reading Middlemarch!

It's been a while since I've commented on a blog (oops!), but I just had to say thanks for sharing that dads video. I teared up watching it, and sent it to my dad the second it finished playing.

My friend and his twins are in that dove video. It is so nice to celebrate great dad.

Both videos were so good, I'm really glad you posted them!
I regularly talk to my husband or friends about your blog, it's my "news" to other people.."did you see this or that on a Cup of Jo today??". There's always something fun, interesting or pretty. You have struck an amazing balance here and I always, ALWAYS look forward to it every day and then Friday is just a huge bonus with all the links. Thank you!!!

I lived in Melbourne for six months over the winter (or summer there!) and jellies were very popular. They look super cute, but I am ever reminded of my practical mother refusing to buy them for me as a child because she promised they would be Blister City.

Just wanted to say that I really love these weekend posts. I look forward to seeing what your discoveries of the week are and always find myself clicking on most of them. Thanks for sharing!

Haha, I am one of your friends ;) Seriously, I read about the Rebecca Mead book in the Guardian Review in March, then thought I must read it, read it, then thought, I must read Middlemarch, which I did (wanted to read it for ages anyway) - and I loved both books so much and keep going on about them with my friends! I honestly think it was good to first read the Mead and the Eliot's original!

I love these weekend posts, too. I was away from the Internet on vacation all week, and your blog is the first one I checked (even with Feedly down!)

One more "thank you" for sharing the video about the family with a trans* child. It really feels like there's a tide change these days, and that we're one step closer to just accepting people as they are.

Joanna your blog makes my day. :) I have a wonderful baby boy who just turned 7 months old so I don't have a lot of down time. I can't tell you how much I look forward to some down time while he's sleeping and a cup of coffee. The first thing I do is race to the computer to catch up on your posts. It's such a treat!

Thank you for sharing the video of the transgender child, Joanna. I cried my eyes out. Sobbed. I'm so glad he was born into such a loving family. I really recommend that everyone watch the documentary by transgender filmmaker Kimberly Reed, called Prodigal Sons. It really opened my eyes up to the plight of the transgender community.

I am currently reading Middlemarch for this month's book club - I have always adored British literature. This book is a high priority for the UK's education secretary to have mandatory on the syllabus as well - which makes it all the more intriguing. Am going to check out the Rebecca Mead book next! x

I read Middlemarch over Christmas vacation one year when I was in university. I remember that vacation so well - being wrapped up in that wonderful book!

I was about to post about Middlemarch (which I love) but then I watched the transgender video which made me cry, all alone at my desk, at the love that people show for one another.
