Subway parody

Our babysitter showed me this video this morning, and we were both laughing out loud. "MTA: We're going to ruin your summer." Sounds about right. Totally worth watching if you live in New York!

P.S. A subway experiment and subway reading.

Ha! This sounds about right! Although I will admit, (re: the part at 0:47) I always wish the Q (or N or R) will get stuck on the Manhattan Bridge for a bit so I can finally stop and gaze at the view. It always seems to get stuck just before or after!

I moved to LA several years back and this actually made me homesick for NYC, screwy trains and all!

Ok, won't watch it since I don't live in New York.

So funny and true! :) They forgot the 7 train, though - literally shut down for almost every June weekend! I could swim to midtown faster than they can get this work done...sigh

This Monday I returned to Barcelona after a five day holiday visiting a friend who is living in Rome. I swear I'll never complain again about subway in my city: Rome has TWO subway lines and they even run well!!
Also, my average commute during my last three years was 2'20 hours and I lived and studied in my city which is pretty small!! Some days I was lucky to go to school by car and those days my average commute was 40 min. Ridiculous.

Ha! This makes me feel better about not being in New York this summer as planned :)

I live in Chicago and this is hilarious, we can totally relate! Also, I'm visiting New York tomorrow and this video justifies my decision to take a cab from LGA to Greenpoint. :)

this made me laugh, even though i rode the subway for the first time last summer. my husband and i actually loved it, while on vacation. i could see using it to get to work everyday and little frustrating :)
so jo, how do you get to your dumbo office?!

Ha! I love this and I don't live in NYC, but I love reading about (and visiting) the city. And often reading about it reminds me why I don't live there :) I lived in DC for a while and it was nothing like NYC in terms of density or claustrophobia, but the metro was basically this, especially in the summer!

This is hysterical - and depressing because it's true!

haha that was great! if it makes any NYers feel any better: the metro in DC isn't much better.

So true! I think the F should have made the cut. It never fails to keep me waiting, even during rush hours!

But despite these malfunctions, I continue to be in a deeply committed & loving relationship with NYC. :)

Public Transportation is a dream compared to Los Angeles.

That is hilarious. I laughed out loud, too, and I don't live anywhere near NYC - or a subway. ;)

That made me actually laugh out loud. I am now forwarding to all my NYU buddies!

Ha! I'm taking my first solo trip to NYC for the Summer this year. The thought of using the subway is kind of freaking me out I'll admit!
...Maybe I'll plan my whole trip so I can walk everywhere, ha!

Ha, the bit about the G train. If I had a nickel for every time I ran for the G train I would be able to ride for free forever! Thanks for sharing, Jo!

Oh gosh, this was hilarious. I just visited New York last weekend and I swear we spent half of the time on the subway. At one point I thought, "ok, ours is the next stop" and then suddenly it skipped about 6 stops. And we also managed to take an hour and half, 2 trains, a bus, and a cab to make it from the Lower East Side to Bed-Stuy.

Haha, totally true! I lived in NYC + Brooklyn for over 20 years and am now in SF. Even tho the NYC subway ALWAYS had service problems, it's a great system compared with any other city! Miss it!

Yep, this is so true!

NYC would probably be less interesting without though ;)

Funny and kinda true BUT for the fact that the city is so big and literally everyone uses the subway at least once in a while I still think the subway is the most efficient way to move around. In the summer I use the bike but I sometimes underestimate how long the distances actually are :)
Anyway I love NY summers! Is there anything better than to have fantastic weather 90% of the time, enjoy free movies and concerts outdoor and hop on the subway to go to the beach? /Maybe minus the pee smell ;) have a wonderful summer NYers!

This made me laugh out loud! I no longer live in NY but when I had a love-hate relationship with the subway system!
