Have a wonderful weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? We are going to our friends' house tonight to play poker (it's my first time ever:) and tomorrow is supposed to be in the 50s! Finally! Hope you have a good one, and here are a few fun links from around the web...

French socks.

Crows playing in the winter!

How Merv Griffin came up with that weird question-answer format for Jeopardy.

This hot chocolate is famous in NYC.

Always inspired by this home shop.

Would you go without mascara?

Japanese travel tips when visiting America. (The laughing part was fascinating.)

Finland is spray painting reindeer so they glow in the dark.

Spanx now has a bra for your booty. Thoughts?

Pretty shirt (and haircut).

Jimmy Fallon and Jonah Hill are awesome.

Brand minimalism.

When taking photos, do you have a good side?

Tinder makes its first match in Antarctica.

Was Olympics figure skating rigged?

Send a hug!

Plus, three posts you may have you missed:
* Laughter yoga.
* Do you kiss your babies on the mouth?
* My fashion uniform.

Omigosh, the Japanese think we only like high fat and sugary foods? And we are polite drivers! So interesting.

Have a great weekend! I hope the weather is nice enough to spend some time outdoors- I know we've all felt so cooped up lately!

Also, that home store is amazing!

Happy weekend Joanna! Great links! Loved the one about the ice-skating (was watching and did think Kim Yu-na and Carolina Kostner gave more refined and elegant performances!) and the link about the Japanese was funny! The person's thoughts on waiting in queues and traffic were amusing and the last point was sweet-about trying and being more accepting about failing. Never thought a Japanese person would write the word damn down though! x

The pigeons are actually crows. Crows are one of the few animals that enjoy playing, and are known to use sticks to play as well.

I've noticed that going without mascara makes the actual shape of your eyes larger; what I like about it is the deepening and lifting effect; not the fake "thickening (gross) and lengthening". I wish there were a good, green, eco version of "eyelash gel": something to darken and 'set' one's lashes in place. Most days, I just brush a bit of almond or olive oil on the tips to make them shiny and then press them with a curler.

The home store is beautiful; I want one of each :)

Those are actually crows (pigeons would never do that). Crows and other corvids are incredibly intelligent. :)

The Japanese guide to Americans had me cracking up! So funny! And I loved the piece on facial symmetry. Happy weekend! :)

Shouldn't the article regarding how Jeopardy was created be titled "How Merv Griffins WIFE came up with the answer/question format of Jeopardy"? I realize you didn't write the article, but it seems rather ridiculous to ask how Merv Griffin came up with it and then answer that his wife gave him the idea. I get so sick of the wives of famous men being just the background and any of their contributions being attributed to their men.

The post about Japanese tourists had me cracking up. I always wonder what other cultures think of us.... As for the mascara post: I've always used mascara as a perfect example of American consumerism. Any given drugstore has 20 different kinds of black paste in brightly colored tubes all claiming to do something earth shatteringly different to your eyelashes! It's like we've all taken crazy pills and just accepted that this is a thing that is important. I can't believe intelligent women all over the country devote that much time, energy and thought to something SO inconsequential! And then they write blog posts about it and we read them!! Why?!

In regards to the figure skating controversy, here's another interesting article that explains why Sotnikova won over Kim: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/olympics/sochi/2014/02/20/winter-games-women-figure-skating-yuna-kim-gracie-gold-ashley-wagner/5635671/

It's very hard to come up with a scoring system that accurately rewards beautiful dance/movement. It's much easier to create a scoring system that focuses on specific skills. For example, if you look at the 2012 Olympic gymnastics routines from Aly Raisman (the floor exercise gold medallist) and Aliya Mustafina (the floor exercise bronze medallist) Mustafina inarguably has the more beautiful routine, her dance/choreography is far superior to Raisman's, but Raisman has the more difficult tumbling and in the end that's what the sport rewards. Same thing goes with figure skating.

No mascara...I call it the going out raw look...either my pale need to see the doctor face or prancing through the woods in gauzy clothes that will prob end me up at doctor's office anyway.

Wow, the question "WOULD YOU GO WITHOUT MASCARA?" really says a lot about who you think your readership is.

I had a crazy allergic reaction to my mascara in June, so I haven't worn any since. Relieved to know now it can be a fashion statement ;)

i'm blonde and have "barely there" lashes, but i haven't worn mascara for years! i got tired of wiping it from under my eyes all the time. i just use an eyelash curler. it feels very liberating not to wear make-up everyday. i admit though, it's no big whoop because i live in a small village in italy.

ooo its my first time on this blog. I must say I LOVE your blog. Just the perfect mix of what I need and enjoy reading. You know what your blog reminds me about? A bunch of friends hanging out with a bottle of wine at a friends place. This is what we talk about.

Also, the blogpost on how to blow dry your hair like a hairdresser! *_* oh how I needed that! Anyhow, I will go continue browsing on your blog and check some more of the links you posted on this post now and gosh I am such a talker. So. I stop here. thank you for what seems to be an amazing blog!
