Have a wonderful weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? We are having friends over for cocktails on Saturday; Alex has been making tequila sunrises lately. Although I'm such a nerd and always go to bed at 9:30! Hope you have a good one, and here are a few fun links from around the web...

Liz Lemon's tips for living alone.

Why does your drink cost so much?

15 recipes every parent should know.

The man who invented the calendar.

Have you ever tried butter socks? They're ridiculously awesome.

Really nice sounds.

Mothers with their one-day-old babies.

Can you do this color challenge?

Tattly now has stationery.

Dogs shaking their heads.

The passion of parenting. (Loved the part about circles of love.)

Love these quirky round-ups.

Color challenge was rad. And humbling.

Oh my god! I did the color challenge and I got "perfect color vision", and my score was 0! I'm happy and proud cause my mom always says I'm a bit daltonic cause we never ever come to an agreement when we talk about clothes:
"Mom, have you seen my pink dress? Oh, do you have a pink dress? Yes, mom, the one I bought last week. Did you bought a pink dress? Yes, mom, the one from ASOS with the cut out back, you said you love it, do you remember? Oh!! You mean the purple dress? No, mom, it's pink, pink, pink. It's not... I'm worried about you".

So now I'm gonna ask her to do the color challenge and we'll see who has a color vision deficiency, huh! Have a wonderful weekend :)

Sounds like a fun weekend ahead :) here in France, we have Monday off so I'm headed to Brussels for a little getaway with a friend. It'll be my first time! Have a good one. xo

I got a 102 on the color test. I can't tell if that's good or bad!

I always love your weekend sign offs!
P.S. What is considered an average score for the color test? Do you know?
Women are suppose to be better with color than men...this would be a good way to put it to the test.

Oh gosh, that circles of love line really got me too. So sweet and such an amazing way of thinking of parenting. :) Thanks for sharing Jo!

Oh yeah, I have butter socks, except we call them muppet skin socks.

Obsessed with the color challenge.

Now my eyes are blurred from the color challenge! Haha! But that was fun.
I loved the mothers with their day-old babies. What a beautiful time to capture portraits.
And the butter socks-- I have several pairs that I call "muppet socks" because of their fuzzy muppet-like texture. So cozy!

I took that color challenge test a few weeks ago-I felt like staring at it on a computer made it even harder, I kept having to come back to it!

I got a 7 in the color test. I probably should have worn my glasses before starting that test. I think I will permanently squinting for the rest of the day. lol

Butter socks! YES! About 10 years ago the paralegal I worked with gave me my first pair for my birthday and I've been getting them as gifts (great for Christmas morning!) ever since. Being from Seattle, I always like to support Nordys

bisbee said...

I've got a pair of those socks...time to start wearing them! And...those portraits of mothers with their newborns made me weepy...it's been almost 36 years since I held my last newborn! Well...actually, I held my newborn grandchildren, which was just as wonderful!

I scored 4 on the colour test and found it very easy. Not bad for a 42-year-old long-sighted person with astigmatism in both eyes!

How could I not love those lovely photos of the new moms and their little babes? And the piece written by Charles M. Blow described everything I think as a parent. Wonderful article, thanks for sending it my way. Btw, I bought the new Wes Anderson book you featured a few weeks ago and he loved it. Thanks for all the great resources you post.

The lower the score the better. I'm in the 20-29 age group and got 22. Just for comparison.

I am officially obsessed with the Color Quiz! I did terribly (263) on my poorly-calibrated work computer screen, but on my MacBook I scored an 8, which completely made my day. Thanks, Joanna for always sharing such fun and engaging posts! I almost never comment, but I always read, and have for years now. I’ve loved watching your family grow!

Thank you Joanna! I love your "Have a wonderful weekend" posts, even though that means 2 looong days without any new posts. I absolutely love reading your blog. Have a good start of the week. Best wished from Berlin!

Would love to hear your tips on cocktail get-togethers...how does one do that with children? Also, did you do appetizers?

Joanna Goddard said...

oh for cocktails, we just whip them up and put out a bowl of chips or cheese & crackers. super simple, nothing fancy at all! :)

Elle said...

Wondering where you came across that color test??? Was great! I got a 12 though...will try again!

Nick Goddard said...

Color challenge is easy if you place each one relative to its neighbor. Check each tile by dragging it back and forth one position. It will be easy to tell where it should go.

Liz M C said...

I got a 4 on the color test. And I'm still seeing streaks of color every time I blink.

Off to rest my tired eyes!
