Toby has a cold.

This weekend, Toby sniffled his way around the apartment, doing wildly uncharacteristic things like requesting naps (!) and refusing banana bread. At times, he'd feel better, but on Sunday evening, he started crying and babbling and randomly nodding off while we were talking to him, which really freaked us out. We took his temperature, which had climbed to 105.5! Alex and I exchanged panicky glances and whispered debates over what to do, but in the end, on our pediatrician's recommendation, we gave him a lukewarm bath, a cold washcloth on his forehead and lots of juice, and thankfully his fever broke and he ended up playing rousing rounds of "You Are My Sunshine" on his mini guitar in the living room stark naked. Back to his nutty old self! Thank goodness. These little scares can really knock the wind out of you.
(Here, he's trying to make the best of it, what a sweetheart!!)

Hope everyone you love is feeling well! Maybe we should all go wash our hands:)

poor Toby! and that is a scary high fever - don't blame you for being worried. Sickness is going around our house too after preschool started. I'd love to hear how you handle toddler sickness with a newborn around. that scares me too. hope everyone is on the mend soon!

He is so sweet, it's so scary when they start acting so differently than usual. Glad it's just a cold and that he's on the mend :) My son was up at 3am Saturday morning and it made our whole day weird with too early/late nap times and monster babies!

Poor Toby! And poor you!! I had the same scare when I was travelling with my 3-year old last weekend and all of a sudden I realised that she wasn't just tired (was also behaving oddly) but boiling hot! Not nice when you're in a foreign country but I got her some fever medicine and the next day she was fine. Glad Toby fought it off quickly as well! :-)

Will had his first fever/virus this week. His temperature reached 103.5! It's definitely terrifying to see your little baby so miserable and to feel so helpless.

i know what you mean by all these little scares.
I have had a so far so good healthy 18 month old with the odd winter sniffles here and there. But last month my toddler's schedule was:
week1: glossitis (what the hell is that! 1st time even hearing about it...apparently toddlers get it all the time)
week 2:Stomach-flu (a nightmare for every parent. Not just because of the many diapers, but no-one wants to see their baby lose weight)
week3: 8 spider bites after an afternoon toddling outside. ( i know..i know.. it is not so bad in the grand scheme of things, but i was worn out).

Now a few days after all of that, everyone is healthy/bite-free and i am glad. but jayzuz i am exhausted,
