House makeover begins—Emily is here!

As I mentioned before, we recently moved to a new apartment, and designer Emily Henderson is helping us give it a makeover. We are so excited to have this amazing opportunity. Emily and her team arrived in New York this morning, and everything will be installed, arranged, hung and designed by Thursday. Whew!

As the first step, a few weeks ago, Emily asked us to show her photos of rooms we liked. Here's what we showed her...
Here's Toby's nursery in our old apartment. In our new place, the boys will be sharing a room, so we'll be adding a couple things to make room for Anton:)
For the nursery, we're hoping to create an airy, clean and pretty space, with a low bookcases that the boys could reach themselves and a soft rug to play on.
We also showed her living room/dining nook inspiration photos, especially these string lights, which Emily pointed out that I had pinned like fifty times:)

Anyway, we're excited to see how it all goes, and I can't wait to share the before-and-afters. A huge thanks to Emily, her senior designer Samantha Gluck and two awesome interns, Will and Alexandra. So nice to have everyone here!! xoxo

P.S. 10 favorite wallpapers, and car pillows.

I love every photo! BUT...I discourage parents from having Montessori materials at home. The Pink Tower looks beautiful in that room, but it's up way too high and almost guaranteed to be used incorrectly, which could be confusing for a little one going between home and school. Even as Montessori trained mom, I wouldn't have materials in our house. They are what makes school special!

I am currently in the process of renovating and decorating my home too, so I know how excited you must be. I am super jealous you have Emily Henderson to help you out. If only I could fly her out to France! Bon chance, and I know with your's and Emily's amazing taste it will look gorgeous.

Also, we have a table very similar in our dining room with benches and they are wonderful with our three boys!

Hooray for you! You must have Emily make a teepee for you...I made one of vintage lace tablecloths for my girls and it has become their favorite play place (and a great spot for a bit of alone time as well). And it's so fun to hang a strand of fairy lights inside it, too!

So exciting!! Your place is going to look amazing, I'm sure. Congrats and have fun!! Cheers.

beautiful! Everything looks so cozy. BUT-- not to be a jerk but PLEASE do not use Tipis as playroom objects/decor. As an American Indian, I hate seeing this "trend".

I just have a problem with it because in the USA Native Americans still get sh*t on all the time and racial problems aren't really recognized. I find it disrespectful to the Plains Indians that used tipis--its an important cultural object reduced to a plaything for non-Indians because "its cute!"-- I mean, wouldn't a Black person find it offensive if it was a trend to decorate a kid's room with an "African Hut!" and encouraged kids to pretend to be Black people?

Mieux said...

Beautiful rooms! But *please* no teepee -- that kind of cultural appropriation is so offensive!
