Decorating our new apartment

We've now been in our new apartment for almost a month, and we're loving the big windows, lack of mice, extra space and dishwasher. (Yahoo!) But with a baby and toddler taking up every spare moment, we've been insanely slow with decorating. We still have unopened boxes in every room and haven't hung a single picture on the walls.

For our old apartment, our dear friend and design genius Jenny Komenda gave our place a much-needed makeover. She had brilliant ideas on a budget, and really made our house a home. But with her new house and new role at Domino (congrats, Jenny!), she's now swamped with her own projects.

Still, for our new apartment, we were hoping to get a little help making it feel cozy and comfy for our family of four. We also need some new furniture—like a dining table, which we finally have room for!—so we wanted help figuring out what to choose and how to arrange everything. We didn't want to mess it up!

So I'm thrilled to say we'll be working with Emily Henderson (pictured above) and her senior designer Samantha Gluck. We're so excited! We feel really lucky to be collaborating with such incredibly talented women.

Here are a few of the pretty rooms Emily has done in the past, which you may have seen around the internet...
Bri's cheerful living and dining room...
Ian's masculine living room...
Joy's colorful office...
...and Emily's own living room.

Can't wait to share the before-and-afters of our apartment in a few weeks. We keep pinching ourselves:) Thank you so much, Emily!

The old adage "Less is more" might work well until decorating comes together! I know I visted my new neighbors apartment recently and was jealous by their lack of possessions. I realized that my 10 years living in the same space has given way to a collection of 'stuff' that I am not even sure how I acquired! Enjoy the space!

I grew up without a dishwasher (my mom still doesn't have one!). Best. Thing. Ever!

P.S. Ian and Emily's spaces are my faves. Good luck!

lucky duck! I've always been a fan of her work. I feel like I've seen her living room before on apartment therapy or something... we're getting a blue velvet sofa too! we're about to close on a new-to-us jersey city condo in a 100+ year old brownstone, and the day I get the keys is the day I buy my new blue velvet chesterfield from cococohome.com!!

I always see these pictures of homes with guitars laying against the furniture. If I did this, it would be destroyed by my toddler or so dusty I'd have to thoroughly clean it once a week. (Ever tried to dust under the strings?) I'll keep mine in the case, thank you, though it won't look so pretty.
