Fall uniform

Inspired by my tomboy mom, I've been hoping to come up with a fall uniform. But the other day, I realized I already have one. Almost everyday, I've been wearing a Everlane seed-stitch sweater. The box cut is flattering and looks great with jeans. It feels like a sweatshirt, yet still feminine and pretty. I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for an easy shirt this fall.
What's your uniform these days?

P.S. Parisian wedges.

Mine is an oversized grey angora jumper with black skinny jeans and loafers.

Love this! I've bought a couple things from Everlane now and have really like their casual but chic style -- I am especially a fan of the silk blouse in navy! This would make a great fall sweater.

Great find! I've been searching for the perfect fall sweater- really digging the boxy/relaxed fit that's in style right now. I've been wearing gray skinny jeans with side zips, an Uzi tank, and a Jcrew sweater, with lace-up booties:

... but that's only because it's still so warm here! Soon enough, it'll be sweater time!

@littlecosa, me too! i LOVE their silk blouses. and their t-shirts. they really nail it every time.

I'm totally loving Everlane. I've been living in their silk blouses. The fit is just so simple and classic. My guy loves the mens shirts too!

I'm loving cozy sweaters, long sleeved silk blouses, and blazers paired with shorts and short skirts for as long as I can get away with it. Boo tights. Fall also signals the switch to booties and red red nails.

Would like to see pic of the sweater on you! Have been eyeing it!

I've been eyeing those Everlane sweaters ever since they came out, but shipping to Canada plus taxes is horrendous!

I just received mine yesterday. In awe of how soft it is, and how rich the color. It's my number one!

I've been so tempted by this sweater with the raglan sleeves. It's been in my Everlane shopping cart since it first debuted!

love a uniform-dark jeans and white or blue blouse-mixed with scarves and/or colored cardis!

My "momiform" lately has been a sage green utility jacket over a white Everlane T, striped grey scarf, skinny jeans, aviators and a cross body leather bag (need to be hands free, of course!). Am on the hunt for a nice pair of flat heeled ankle boots...

LOVE Everlane. I have their silk blouses and the terry sweatshirt and I've been living in that lately. My new brown loafers have been my uniform lately. Love their fall style and comfort!

Joanna- I am about to order a couple tees and the Seed Stitch in Navy for myself right now! I've been reading your blog for years (almost as long as I've lived in New York) and your recommendations haven't steered me wrong yet. Most recently, I took my boyfriend to Hudson Clearwater for his 30th, and we both loved it! So, just wanted to take the time to say thanks for writing such a great blog and inspiring me to embrace life and the city with as much joy as you do.

Love your mom's tomboy style! Did she save any of her old sweaters for you?! I saw a few I'd definitely purchase from a vintage store if I found it... Anyway, I have yet to make a purchase from Everlane, but this sweater looks pretty cute. Right now I'm into button ups and jeans with cognac leather ankle boots and a belt. Always a belt. Last fall I was into scarves and have a bajillion in my closet. This season, it's belts and hats. I've got a mens gray fedora,a soft felt fedora in burnt orange and a mens tweed newsboy.

I love the look of Everlane, but alas, they only come in sizes skinny and skinnier and so I won't be buying from them anytime soon!

I figure... if i put on a skirt with any plain old shirt i've got laying around, i might not look so frumpy. so, skirt or an easy wear dress for me. We all know my baby is gonna spit up on it first chance he gets, right?

I've been eyeing these! I've been wearing their sweatshirt occasionally while 7 months pregnant - do you think a larger sized sweater would accommodate a growing belly? They look so nice, and I'm realizing the sweaters I have are not going to keep me warm these last few months!

michelle said...

Joanna, a personal question... I'm a nursing mom to a 4-month-old boy, is it nursing friendly? Easy to just lift up to feed the babe?

I've been eyeing the seed stitch from Everlane. The fall uniform I'd like to have (currently saving) is a pair of black leggings with faux leather detailing and a baggy grey fisherman's sweater.

Beautiful sweaters! Hard to believe they only go up to a size 10 :(

@Lauren Knight - I like the idea of grey jeans with a side zipper. Would you tell me where they are from?

When the weather finally starts to feel like fall, my uniform is skinny jeans, an oversized tee, cardigan, scarf, and flats. I work in a building that's hot in one classroom and cold in the next, so even in the fall I end up in layers most of the time. :-)

Love this! I ordered my husband one of the Men's versions last week and it arrived in the mail a few days ago - I tried it on before he did and was happy to see it didn't look half bad on me. ;)
I'm waiting for the black raglan to come back in before I order one for myself.

Ooooo! So pretty! I love comfy clothes. We're "in between" seasons here, so I usually start out in jeans, tee, and a flannel...losing the flannel as the day goes on. I cannot wait for it to be cooler so I can start pulling sweaters out of the wardrobe!!

LOVE your blog!

hugs,
Jess

Yes! They are 7 jeans, and I got them recently at ShopBop:

I wear them at least 3 days a week!

That sweater looks so nice..
Lately I've been wearing maxi skirts a lot—they're so much more comfortable than jeans/shorts, in my opinion

That's my uniform too! The grey seed stitch sweater with jeans. It's a grown-up, sexy but daily-practical improvement on a sweatshirt with no compromise in comfort. Win!

I am currently addicted to giant sweaters! It isn't cold enough to wear them yet. I wore them this summer in northern California and they are so comfortable!

Oversized sweater and a scarf looped around my neck and skinny jeans

Audrie said...

I'd love to wear sweaters like that but my giant boobs don't allow for it... BOO. (I'm 5ft tall with D-cups... you do the math lol) I basically wear a dress and a cardi all year round, and throw on some leggings and a coat when it gets colder.

I don't like that sweater very much. It looks too short in her torso (especially the navy color). I don't find their ad appealing in the least. Maybe its better in person!

Sadly, my fall uniform hasn't really started yet. I am slowly moving back into pants and cotton shirts (during summer I go pretty much all chiffon and sheer blouses, because THE HEAT). Today, I did get to wear one of my favorite sweater-ish dresses. It's not too hot, and was actually perfect for today's 70's weather. South Carolina usually takes a while to get to fall. Ask me again during about mid-October.

Love this sweater (and the price)! As a mom of four, I love my Joe's ankle jeans, flats and cotton long sleeve tees by Kayce Hughes. Lately, I've been layering with infinity scarves and blazers for morning and peeling them off as the day goes on. Happy Fall:)

I love this post! Pretty much how I dress everyday. I try to mix it up with my accessories. One of my favorite places to go when I need a little pop to my outfit via some jewels I visit the ladies of www.mintandlolly.com/ It helps add some shine to my normally monochromatic looks :)
