Snacks around town

Now that Anton is almost seven weeks old, I'm starting to get the hang of exploring the city with two little dudes. We've had some chaotic moments (yesterday Toby was stuck in a bucket swing because I was carrying Anton and didn't have free arms to get him out!), but overall things are getting smoother.
One thing that makes things easier is having a stash of yummy snacks. When Anton is hungry, I'll breastfeed in public and always immediately get hungry like the wolf. And my man Toby is always starving:)
This is his "may I please have a snack" face.
Our go-to snacks are from NatureBox. They're a snack subscription service, and they send you five bags of natural snacks every month. Our favorites include guacamole bites, blueberry almonds, banana chips, dried apples and whole-wheat raspberry figgy bars. Toby loves them all, and the snacks are so much healthier than other snacks we’ve eaten in the past. You can choose the exact snacks you want (they have more than 90 different kinds) or let them surprise you.
You can sign up for the regular NatureBox (5 bags for $19.95), the Family Snacker (10 bags for $29.95) or the Professional Snacker (20 bags for $49.95). As I've mentioned before, I initially wondered if the snacks seemed expensive, but they're actually comparable to buying from Whole Foods or gourmet groceries. It works out to between $2.50 and $4 per bag, which is amazing.

Bonus: Get 50% off your first box with the code CUPOFJO (so you'll enjoy five bags for $9.95), if you'd like to give NatureBox a taste; good for two weeks.
(This post is sponsored by NatureBox, whose mission and snacks I adore. Photos by Julia Robbs for Cup of Jo. To answer readers' questions, my bag is from Madewell, and Anton's baby carrier is our beloved BabyHawk Mei Tai)

these are such a great idea! i continuously forget to eat when chasing around my almost one year old and, being pregnant again (phew!) it's no good. i'm struggling to gain the proper weight for 20 weeks and these might just help do the trick!

It's funny I've just realised that I never snacked as a child. I'm French and I had regular meal times: breakfast, lunch, 4-heures (small afternoon meal for children only, at 4pm) and dinner. I still don't snack much, but my meals aren't as regular due to work :( so sometimes I'm starving by the time I get home...

Their snacks are seriously good. My favorite is the Garden Tomato Almonds. I've never seen this flavor anywhere else. And my daughter, who hates fig newtons, LOVES the Raspberry Figgy Bars. She chastised me the other day for eating the last one.

Love your mei thai. Gonna give the snacksa try. Thanks for the code! Are you planning to post Anton's birth story or did I miss it?

Just placed my first order! I'm so excited! I'm a full-time grad student so my diet is very snack heavy. Glad to have nutritious options! I'm not a blogger, but I know it must be very difficult to decide which sponsored posts to features. I just want to say you do a great job of presenting quality companies you really seem to believe in. Thanks for your honest recommendations!

That totally happened to me at the park re: the swing! Except it was nephew I was pushing (my son was at home having a nap) and I had my daughter in the carrier. My nephew is a year older and bigger than my son, but it didn't occur to me that I wouldn't be able to get him out. His rain boots got caught and I just couldn't get him out. Another woman at the park had to help me!

I love the nature box idea, but bummer that they use things like canola oil and corn products :( I wish they were organic. Hard to find really easy and truly healthy snacks.

Kari is there a Trader Joe's near you? They don't carry any GMOs, so even the non-organic options there that use canola oil and corn are GMO-free :) They also don't carry anything with artificial dyes - More info here: http://www.harmlesshome.com/2013/08/keep-color-clean.html

When I married my husband I was already pregnant and so I didn't have a job. He had a really good job though so I was able to stay home and take care of our son when it was born. When we had our second child we moved to a bigger house, but then strange things started to happen. Things would fly off the walls and doors would slam at night. Our oldest son talked about seeing figures and hearing voices. We consulted a medium and they said the house was haunted. After living there about a year more with only minor occurrences we moved out. That was when the bad luck started to happen. Everything started to fail, with my husband's job, our money and our luck in general. I went back to the same medium and they told me that a spirit had followed me and placed a curse upon me for disturbing it and not being respectful in the previous house. He tried to remove it but was unable. The misfortune kept going on and getting more severe as I tried to search out someone to break the curse. But when I found Dr.Azonto spell he finally did it. Things started turning around almost immediately after he cast the spell and have been great from there! This was really a miracle for us, thank you . azontotemple@yahoo.com spell from the bottom of my heart!

I tried Naturebox the last time you posted about it. I thought the snacks were pretty good overall. However, when you ask for them to pick another option for you... they gave me double of one of the items that I had already selected. When I called to complain, they totally dismissed me and were really rude about it. It makes me really sad because they are located just down the street from my office. I really was hoping for better customer service.

stephervescent said...

Hi Joanna,

I wanted to leave some feedback on this comment:
"You can choose the exact snacks you want (they have more than 90 different kinds) or let them surprise you."

I had ordered a box thinking I could customize it, but ended up receiving a "surprise" box in the mail, 2 out of the 5 being snacks I really didn't like.

After talking with customer service, it seems "personalization" is a beta feature which is not available to everyone. You have to call NatureBox to request the ability to customize your box. This wasn't really clear in your endorsement and in your statement above.

Thankfully, they're giving me a partial refund, but I am still left with 8 bags of snacks I don't want!
