Have a fun weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? We're planning to hit up some water playgrounds and eat our weight in lime popsicles. Either that or have a baby! Hope you had a wonderful weekend, and here are a few fun links from around the web...

A song to kick off your weekend.

We've been playing this old-school game, and it's surprisingly fun.

How giraffes sleep.

Why Parisians poke their Camembert.

Brilliant New Yorker cover this week.

How to get sexy beach hair.

Astonishing photos of NYC subways.

Dinner party dessert in less than a minute.

18 joys of summer, including tomato sandwiches and good books.

Book covers starring Parks & Recreation characters.

Appreciating happiness.

The Brits wear cool hats.

Were you tricked by this optical illusion?

And if you're heading to the pool or beach, here are 3 hairstyles for wet hair.

Finally, as I'm sure you know, Google Reader is shutting down this Monday. If you'd like to follow Cup of Jo on a feed, you can join the awesome Feedly, which can actually import all your Google Reader blogs with one click. You can also follow Cup of Jo by friending my Facebook page or following my Twitter, where I provide links to all my daily posts. Thank you so much!

I'm actually a little disppointed by the New Yorker cover. Sesame Street has been very clear about not sexualizing their puppets, and specifically have pointed out that Bert & Ernie don't have sexual orientations. They're puppets!

I thought for sure the song was going to be this one from NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Series. :)

I totally agree and was sad to see it on this list. There are so many amazing, real life role models (maybe Edith Windsor!?) that they could have chosen to represent. I usually love the New Yorker and am really disappointed.

I use this method for beach waves:

very easy and no products involved!

Thumbs up for the baby giraffe post and the Beatles picture! Love the Stevie Wonder song and that video is a longtime favorite cause of how fun it is to laugh at the backup dancers. :)

Thanks always for the links! Such a great round-up! Also, you have provided myself and my dear pregnant friend with some great laughs and poignant reads about becoming a mother. Thank you for being so candid. It's refreshing. Here's to bringing your next little one into the world! Cheers!

I agree with both points. I also just thought it was silly.

I've been wondering if we have very close due dates, and it must be that we do because we're doing the same thing this weekend! Minus the water playground, since this will be our first kiddo. :) It's been so fun to read your posts and compare. We are super excited to meet our little one and while he's due next week, it looks like he could come any minute! In any case, I look forward to hearing the story! Have fun and good luck!

Bert and Ernie are watching the Supreme Court Justices, a reference to the monumental decisions they made on Wednesday regarding gay rights. But as previous commenters pointed out, Bert and Ernie are not gay and it is just an odd and misguided way to commemorate such a historic and wonderful event.

Me too, and sad, bc men in our culture (hetero and homosexual) need the freedom to have close, deep male friendships without having it always always be sexualized

How funny that the cheesemonger let *them* poke the cheese! Yes, you can absolutely poke the cheese at the supermarket and most French do! At the cheesemonger you usually take their word for it when they ask you what kind of camembert you're after!

Did baby come? So excited for you!!
