Watercolor nail polish

One of my New Year's resolutions was to stop biting my nails like a five-year-old. I already bought this crazy stuff (which makes your nails taste bitter). But after stumbling upon these beautiful watercolor nails, I feel even more inspired. And they're surprisingly easy: the tutorial just calls for a few pastel colors and a sponge. Will you try them this spring?

P.S. Navy nails and galaxy nails.

  5. So pretty! I've yet to try water-marbling, but I have a few metallic based polishes that would make a fantastic "galaxy" mani.

  6. I have to say.... it looks like you are wearing worn-off pastel nail polish. Not very striking.

  7. Have you tried the Barielle No Bite? I feel as though I've tried EVERYTHING, and I still cannot stop biting. I ordered that product but haven't received it yet. Here's to hoping!

    1. I used it and it worked for me. I stopped biting my nails on Jan 2nd and the Barielle product really strengthened my nails too, so they were less tempting to bite.

  8. Unfortunately I don't like it. It's faded and too many colors :(

  9. How feminine and fresh looking. I'll have to pick up a few more pastel shades to give this a try. Spring has already sprung in California!

  13. So pretty but I don't think I'd wear it. I'm much more in to darker colours.
I used to have awful nails, they were flaking and peeling but I discovered OPI Matte Nail Envy. Now I even get compliments on how great my nails look. I don't think it would stop you biting them though, that's sheer will power.

Once your nails start improving you'll start taking extra good care of them. I did anyway.

    Good luck!

  17. I used stuff like that when I was a kid! I remember it making my carrots taste gross. I was a crazy nail biter, was until college. I just decided that I was going to quit--what ended up working best for me was keeping my nails super short, cutting them every week. It worked! And I still keep my nails very short. If there's nothing to bite, you'll stop long enough that it will become a habit. Or try to figure out exactly when and why you bite your nails, and hopefully that erases your nail biting. Good luck!

  19. Very pretty! I'm currently trying to grow out my nails after a nasty fight with acrylics. It's been a loosing battle so far.

  20. I've never been a nail biter but I'm obsessed with painting my nails. A few months ago I got a gel manicure and I've never looked back -- I get one once a month. I figure the $25 per month is worth it to have polished, smooth, non-chipped, non-fading nails for 4 wks instead of attempting to repaint them myself once a week to avoid looking childish. Can we consider it an investment? :)

  23. I bite my nails too!! I've stopped for a couple of months a few times but it always comes back, it's what I do when I am nervous or stressed. I find the thing that helps me the most is getting manicures, unfortunately I can't afford one every week. One day I will break it.

Good luck to you. And the watercolor nails are amazing.

  24. I just quit biting my nails 6 months ago What helped me was getting a manicure with gel nail polish once a week. The polish is harder then regular polish and interfers with the ability to bite them. I went every week for two months because as soon as they started to peel (at about 10-11 days) I would pick at them then bite them. Now I go once very two weeks and my hands are transfromed. Good luck as with most things not one way works for everyone I hope you find your way to stop.

  26. I'm not feeling the water color nails, but I am a huge nail polish fanatic so Im all for getting you to stop biting your nails!! I agree with Katilda--I started getting gel manicures and Im hooked. It lasts 3-4 weeks looking fabulous and absolutely no chipping! Right now Im dying to go get my nails done, but Im still on postpartum recovery and keeping my baby girl at home...my nail time will come again!

  33. Wow! That is a great idea! So pretty!

As a chronic nail biter for 37 years (yikes!), let me cheer you on by saying, "You can do it!"

I was "forced" into stopping when I chipped my front tooth while biting my nails. Yuck!

My tooth is right as rain now and my nails are finally nails and not nubs.
