Three budget ways to display flowers

Spring flowers are in the air (magnolia start blooming any day now!), and it's the ideal season to fill your home with flowers. But fresh flowers can be expensive, so here are three ways to display flowers this spring without breaking the bank. First, isn't this vintage bottle beautiful? Just pop a few leafy greens in there, and you're all set.
Dried flowers from etsy shop Flores del Sol last for a few years.
And West Elm has new paper flowers! They're surprisingly beautiful and would last forever on a mantlepiece.

Thoughts? Which is your favorite?

P.S. Three ways to arrange supermarket flowers.

All of these are beautiful! I'm especially smitten with the paper flowers, though. My husband and I had paper flowers at our wedding; it was so fun having work parties just to dye, cut, fold, and glue paper together. :)

The yellow dried ones are lovely, too!

Take care,
Katie

I love the pop of color the yellow dried flowers offer, though all the ideas are great.

...but please, don't snip branches or take cuttings from public parks or neighbor's hedges!

Beautifully arranged! Magnolias should be flowering here too, but it doesn't look like happening any time soon...

I love all of these, but especially the West Elm paper flowers and the Etsy dried flower for their bright colors!

Very cool idea! I love flowers, but not always the sneezing that's accompanied by them - paper flowers would definitely be a great, pretty alternative!

I'm all about the real thing, in $4 bunches from the almighty Trader Joes.

Kelcey, Trader Joes has $4 bunches?! I never look at their flower section! I'm going to check it out this week for sure. Thanks for the tip.

That vintage bottle is great Jo.

We take branch cutting in Spring as things bud up or blossom so that we can enjoy then up close.

I have had some of the longest lasting flowers ever from the supermarket. We occasionally bring home mixed bunches, seperate the flowers and distribute them in small posies tied with gorgeous ribbon or raffia around the house in small jars or vessels, next to the bed, in the hall even in the bathroom!

Love the paper flowers! And they won't die! My grandma makes beautiful silk flower flower arrangements!

I loved your post on supermarket flowers. Even if it's a simple bouquet of tiny white mums, having fresh flowers around the home is such a simple joy!

I absolutely adore fresh flowers. But because they're so expensive, I buy them for myself about once a month. My boyfriend, though, shows up with hand-picked flowers for me all the time, and I love displaying them around the house in little vases.

LOVE the yellow dried flower "balls"! I had some sitting in a pretty vase next to our guest bed, and need to go get more. X, A

Those yellow bitty billy flowers are my favorite! So perfect!

I am always using old bottles and even stemless wine glasses to put flowers in, gives it a fun eclectic feel. Those dried flowers are so sweet!

The craspedia (little yellow balls) makes adorable arrangements. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding last summer that used craspedia and dried lavender in the bouquets. Beautiful AND fragrant!

I love the effect flowers have in a room! But you're right -- they're way expensive. As for vases, I snatched a few from my mom that are beautiful. I am doing a series on my blog as I learn how to create my own bouquets.

I love this entry along with the one about supermarket flowers. I was so inspired by the idea of using an old candle jar that I even allowed myself to splurge on a fancy candle the other day knowing it would eventually be used as a vase. (www.blairsays.com)

The mom I babysit for made paper flowers for her daughter's Japanese tea party themed birthday; the dad's family is from Japan. She got branches from a tree in the neighborhood and glued pink tissue paper that look like the West Elm photo. I thought they were so beautiful, like spring blossoms. She decided to give them a more permanent place in their home after the party.
