We've always used boring black suitcases without even thinking about it, but these colorful numbers are quickly changing my mind. My friend Yolanda recently spotted Crewcuts designer Jenny Cooper and her family with them at the airport. The cheery bags—by Japanese brand Hideo Wakamatsu–would kick off vacations in a fun way and make you smile while you're living out of them in a hotel room. Aren't they awesome?
P.S. A luggage scooter!

I definitely need luggage like this!!! I can't tell you how much aniexty I have waiting for my bags to come down from a plane...I freak out! This way I will see mine immediately! =)

I'm so glad my luggage is orange. Definitely makes getting through the baggage claim a lot easier!

Another advantage: they are super easy to spot at the luggage belt and easy to describe if the airline ends up losing them. I recently bought a turquoise suitcase for that very same reason.
ReplyDeleteGreat! We switched luggage a couple of years ago to bright yellow bags, love them!
ReplyDeleteI just realized that I have NEVER had a black suitcase. Ever. When i was 23, i bought a matching Hilfiger set at macys in green (my fave color). Since then i've gotten a silver hard case bag (which I LOVE) with 360 wheels (a must) that I use all. the. time.
ReplyDeleteThat blue one is pretty cute.. my current case is black with pink and white shapes on it, it's a snowboarder case and I love it, but I'd be willing to replace it with one of these x
ReplyDeleteBeware of the unique luggage, sometimes you're not the only one! My boyfriend's dad is in the construction industry and thought he would use his special blue construction tape to mark his bag. Well, so did another traveler and he came home with little girl's clothes! Luckily they raced back to the airport and managed to switch the bags, but he didn't check cause he thought he was so sneaky with that tape :) Hopefully there aren't two bright yellow bags on your trip!
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely indeed... But more expensive than the ordinary blue/black ones ;)
ReplyDeleteand they would be easy to spot when you're searching for your luggage on the belt!
ReplyDeleteno way, megan! that's such a coincidence. i always peek into the bag to make sure it's mind. all the black rolly bags looks exactly the same. :)
ReplyDeletesumslay, that's awesome. i don't think i've ever NOT had a black bag!
ReplyDeleteHow brilliant! Would definitely make checking your bags less hasslesome.
ReplyDeletepetya, that's a great point...if you lose a black bag, you're kind of out of luck.
ReplyDeletethe one black bag i DO really like is one we have from Muji. it folds completely flat when you're not using it, which is really great for a small nyc apartment.
Love these! I have a purple suitcase which is quickly becoming knackered after a few international flights! I'd love one of these, but I think I'd be a bit paranoid that I'm drawing too much attention to it... like it might be more tempting for someone to steal.
ReplyDeleteOh!
ReplyDeleteThose are fun.
The airport needs some fun stuff like this, I think :)
Love,

Love these! Although most people sticking with black or dark-coloured luggage has always been an advantage for me and my neon blue suitcase in the past. It'd be harder to pick it out of a rainbow carousel of these babies!
ReplyDeleteFunny. I just blogged about bright outfits and accessories. They are great.

most of our travel bags are very boring to look at, and why should they be? vacation is fun! that mint green bag would really put in more of the spirit for travel.
ReplyDeleteI love the yellow! Man, would those stand out!
ReplyDeleteMy family gives luggage to all high school graduates, to start their adult life and send them off to college. Mine are a dark teal, and I've always loved that they're so easy to pick out on a baggage carousel, because they're not just another black set! Cheery luggage is definitely awesome.
ReplyDeleteI have the tarpaulin suitcase and it is usually unzipped when I pick it up in baggage claim. Kinda ruined the first day of my honeymoon.
ReplyDeleteAnd they would be easy to spot on the carousel!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this! When I was in Japan, nearly everyone had spinner luggage and I realized how much more efficient they were when weaving through crowds. I've been on a lookout for a cool one since and I will add this to my list of options.
ReplyDeleteI buy bright luggage, so I know which one it is mine on the baggage claim.
ReplyDeleteso so cute. I love them!
ReplyDeleteJen from champagne & passports
I have the green one!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it so so so so much-- I actually registered for mine after borrowing a friend's yellow Hideo a few times. They are THE BEST. Since they're spinners, they're easy to travel with AND you can pack a ton of stuff in them. I have gone on two separate 2 two-week trips to Europe with just the carry-on size and a large tote bag. They hold soooo much and they're super durable...I could go on and on!
I've always tried to have my luggage stand out - whether bright blue bowling bag style duffles or carpet bag patterned rolling luggage. These are way fun and you could see them coming from a mile away! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can stop by my newest post about the Box of Thanks I'm doing this year.

Finally some recognizable luggage :)

I have a bright yellow suitcase that I used to travel on a 20+ city/3 month trip all through Asia. It was genius and made life 100% easier when searching for my suitcase.
ReplyDeleteI always used to have black luggage but would tie a bright ribbon around it... but when I was looking into a four-wheeled (spinner) suitcase because of lower-back issues, I came across these Titan-brand cases: http://compare.ebay.com.au/like/261174770952?ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes I bought mine in a hot deep pink colour, and it's so easy to spot on the carousel! This brand is also really sturdy.
ReplyDeleteSara, I love your family's awesome tradition of giving high-school graduates luggage as a gift. I might just borrow that idea for my own girls, when the time comes!
My family has the same tradition. My luggage that I use now is still my highschool graduation gift from 20 years ago! lol! It was good quality and is still in great condition, but I do want to get a new easy roller/spinner suitcase as mine is the old style big canvas cases with tiny little wheels that fall over when you try to go around a bend too fast. :)
Deletelove it! you couldn't miss that on a baggage claim carousel.
ReplyDeleteI have the green one :)
ReplyDeleteLove those!

ReplyDeleteThey are great! My son has a trunki which is really bright and fun (and super handy), but it would be fun to have bright luggage for grown ups to. Plus, how easy would it be to spot these babies coming around on the luggage carousel?
ReplyDeleteOoh the orange one I would definitely take across the border! and how much easier would those be to spot at baggage claim?! x

Wow! I love this bright luggage!
ReplyDeleteI really want one of these suitcases now. I'm currently sporting a rather plan and boring dark green. However my excuse could be that it would be so easy for someone else to pick up my case at the airport by mistake, therefore these bright ones are almost essential... :P

What a vibrant way to travel!

How could you mix that up! Very cool. What a great gift to give.
ReplyDeletesuch a fun way to travel! makes packing and unpacking a little brighter. love it.
ReplyDeleteI love bright suitcases! All of mine are either brightly coloured or patterned- it makes picking them out on the carousel WAY easier too! x
ReplyDeleteI worked in the travel industry for years. I can tell you that brightly coloured luggage isnt just good for aesthetics but it makes it easier to find by both the airline/hotel and the traveller.
ReplyDeleteI cant tell you how many times we had to assist VIP clients to find their lost luggage and had to wade through a sea of black luggage.....arrrrgh
I just realized that I like bright luggage too; preferably the yellow and orange ones. They’re a lot easier to spot when fetching them in the carousel, and thus will save me a lot of worrying. >.<

It's really advisable to use luggage like this, it's easy to find and identify. Mine is black and I always mistaken it to someone else. I want purple luggage like this one.

I absolutely love bright, fun rolling luggage. Bags like these make traveling so much easier
