American parents around the world?

I’m working on a little project about parenting around the world. We’re specifically looking for American or Canadian parents who are living abroad with their children. Do you know anyone who fits that description? If so, I’d be really thrilled to chat with them. Please email americanparentsabroad (at) gmail (dot) com. Thank you so much! xoxo

I'm struck by how much Toby looks like you when you were little! No leads for your project, sadly, but I'm sure it will be fun.

My aunt and uncle recently moved with their 3 year old to Dungiven, Ireland. And my parents raised my sister and I in New Delhi, India until I was 5 before moving to Boston!

I'm now 23 so their information might be outdated.

We're moving (with our newborn!) to Edinburgh, Scotland in September for three years. :) But as of right now, I can't think of anyone currently doing this. Maybe you'll do a similar project in the future!

My parents were Americans living abroad as missionaries! Lived in Japan for 30 years and raised me there. My mother now specializes in everything third-culture kid (particularly in the realm of education). They came back to the States 9 years ago, when I came back for college. Can't wait to read all about your project!

You should check out Jen at www.worldwidewatercooler.com, I've known her through social media for years. She's Canadian from Vancouver, married to another Canadian and they have a 2 year old son. They moved to Oxford, UK several months ago and are living the expat life over there!

I can't think of anyone yet for your project, but it sounds so interesting.

Here's an article that I read years ago about a Canadian woman living in rural Mongolia with her baby that you might like. This article is so amazing that I still think of it often years later. I bet you'll find some more amazing stories like this as you do your research, and I can't wait to read what you find!

Joanna, we have corresponded a bit before. I'm currently living in Hong Kong, but moved here recently from Malaysia and do a travel and fashion blog. There are tons of parents here from the US with small kids and I don't know how they do it...especially in this major Asian city! I will pass along your blog to see if they would like to contact you. Or if you have specific questions, you can email me anytime! I'm not sure if you remember, but I sent you an email some time ago about your blog that you said "made your day" - haha! Please let me know if I can be of any help.

I am just finishing up a 5 month stay with my husband and 2.5 yr old in Brazil for my work. It's fun to read through the comments to see all the other American women living abroad and following your blog! I know for me personally your blog has been a daily must for me to feel a sense of normalcy and because sometimes it's just lonely being surrounded by women you cant chat with because you dont speak the language :) So thanks for "chatting" with us!
