Have a relaxing weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? We're going to see Alex's mom, and she wants to do that necklace-over-the-belly test to see if we're having a boy or girl. Also, we saw Silver Linings Playbook this week. Have you seen it? I used to find Bradley Cooper kind of grating, but he was really charming and likable in this. Have a good one, and here are just a few links from around the web...

Another cool Swedish playspace.

Lion twins!

Could this insane story be true?

Model morphosis.

Constellation cuff.

Cheat sheet for pairing wine with food.

Wise words about inspiration.

The simplest flower arrangement.

Would you wear peplum?

Parmesan spinach orzo, yum.

Google Glass looks rad.

Have a good one! xoxo

Silver Linings Playbook was soooo good! I have bipolar disorder among few other things and it was a great, truly awesome portrayal of the struggles that come with having a mental illness. His character reminded me of some different people I have met while in the mental hospital! He was so good!

Ooooh! I'd be excited to hear the results of that belly test! I never tried it, but think it would be fun.

Great links, as usual. And as for the peplum, I think it's just a bit too trendy for me. As in, I fear as soon as I would work up the courage to wear one, it would already be out of style!

I LOVED Silver Linings Playbook! And I feel the same about Bradley Cooper too, he's much more likable and real in this film. Jennifer Lawrence was spectacular as well, and I hope she wins her first Oscar this weekend! (thats what I'm up to this weekend... watching the oscars and just generally being lazy with friends ;D )

That racing story makes my heart pound just reading about it! Do not want!

yes, to the peplum! i've always been a fan, and i have barely discernible hips, so it makes me look more womanly.

We didn't even discovery my pregnancy until 7 months (no symptoms, no missed periods)! So we found out the gender asap in some effort to feel like we could prepare.

Down the line though I think we'll keep it a mystery. Then we can do fun things like this and find out at the very end how accurate or not they were.

See you Monday.

peplums = a go for me! i found that they make me look stylish, while hiding the not-so-fantastic parts of me quite well. not sure if i'd do a shirt, but i'm looking forward to wearing my two new dresses that feature them prominently. go for it!! :)

In terms of the speeding car, why wouldn't he just put it in neutral...

seems pretty logical to me ;)

The belly test worked for my cousin! When she was pregnant with her first, this old lady did the necklace test and said the baby was a boy (he is) and that she would have two more boys (she did). We still get chills when we think about it.

My sister-in-law tried the necklace-over-the-belly test and it said she was having a girl. She had a boy. :) Oh well, it was still fun to watch!

Rebecca Alexis said...

enjoy! and have fun this weekend. I would say you are having a girl. Thats my prediction.

Have to see Bradley Cooper just one more time! Awesome movie!

My husband, who knows a lot about cars & mechanical stuff, has always been very skeptical of these stories where people say their car got stuck in high speed. He thinks they are exaggerating or even lying to get attention.

That model morphosis site is addicting! How fascinating to see what hair and makeup can do!

The necklace over the belly test told me I was having a girl with my second. I had another boy. ;)

Love the quote!

In regards to the speeding car, wasn't there a big thing a few years ago about Toyota's accelerating uncontrollably because of some manufacturer malfunction? I think it's a real thing, and I remember seeing on the news an apology being sent out to those who were injured or killed a result.

Google glass looks crazy! But it kind of makes me think of the movie Wall-E (from Disney) and how in the future we are all just people gliding around in tiny seats with screens in front of our faces.

I saw Silver Lining last weekend and it was awesome! I tried the necklace over the belly test on my friend...didn't work for her but it was a lot of fun!

That Swedish play space is like a place I used to go as a kid with my dad. It was called "Adventure Playground" and was completely free. You would collect pieces of trash and trade them in for tools and materials at a little "shop" (10 pieces for a few nails, 30 to borrow a hammer etc.) then you could just build as you wish! The whole place was a kid made wonderland!

I still want to see Silver Linings Playbook...! You should check out Bradley Cooper's interview with Terry Gross on Fresh Air this past month. Totally made me see him in a different light. He's actually a pretty serious actor, I have a newfound respect for him.

have a great weekend!

The ring/needle over the belly totally worked with our baby. It was kind of freaky, but pretty neat at the same time.

I found Silver Linings Playbook to be very overrated - the performances were good given the content, and the story was fine, but I don't believe it warrants so much critical acclaim. My biggest issue with it is that I didn't buy the "resolution"; it was just a slapped-on "everything will be fine if you meet the right person." I have people in my life who deal with these problems, and it's disappointing that the movie's take on this wound up being so naively rose-tinted. I mean, it was a fun watch, but Oscar-worthy?

I also thought that Jennifer did much better in showing character nuance in the Hunger Games than here. Bradley was surprisingly endearing though, I'll agree.

The model/make up was amazing! It's amazing that so many were made to look like they weren't wearing make up at all. Pretty cool.

... have always loved your Friday posts! Make it a good weekend!

The necklace test worked on two of my friends and on me! We didn't find out what we were having, so I did the necklace thing multiple times for fun. Sometimes ambiguous, but usually girl. My daughter is nine months old now!

Did you love Jennifer Lawrence? I never saw her in anything else and was blown away.

I love peplum!! I have slim hips so it adds a nice shape to my body. Also -- I haven't been present on the blogosphere in maybe a year so I am ecstatic to hear you're expecting!!! Congratulations to you & your beautiful family <3

On this side of the Atlantic, we've been wearing peplum tops since fall 2012, it's nice to see that it will still be feasible in the Spring! ASOS is really big here too! Thanks for the cool links!

I remember the speeding Toyota stories too and always thought that turning off the car/key would work.
Peplums are fabulous for girls with no hips or bellies or behinds ... less so when a curvy girl wears something that accents those areas. I have a couple and only wear them on my skinny days with skinny trousers/jeans.

How Did I Not Know You Are Expecting ????

Congratulations !!

i hope you will tell us the results of the necklace test just for fun!

Regarding the story of the man stuck at 125 mph, i heard a similar story once on this american life, i think. In that case it was a woman in the states and they played the audio of her call to police while driving the car and unable to stop. Soooo scary!!

Nope, no ma'm - no peplum on this lady. :-D Even the very temptingly comfortable "empire waist" will not work.
I look pregnant in anything not "shaped/fitted"... And I'm NOT pregnant. 8-)

I've never seen that before - what a wonderful thing to say "Make it a good weekend"! :-) Rather than the usual "have a good...", why leave it to just 'having' when you can make sure to have one by making it so?! :-D
Love it and will start using it from now on! :-)

en annan, your comment got my heart. I felt the very same way when someone I truly respect and look up to in the office said that to me in an email. It makes me smile that this simple change in a classic saying found it's way to you and you'll be using it as well! I find that I say it to myself as much as I say it to others.

Enjoy..
