The tumblr Vintage Loves features schmoopy photos from past decades. I wonder how all these couples turned out! I'm sure their life stories would be fascinating. And below are my grandparents, who met on Valentine's Day back in 1945 and stayed in love all their lives. Not to be a broken record, but every Valentine's Day, I think back to my loneliest Valentine's Day six years ago, when I was feeling hopelessly single. Two weeks later, I met Alex. Goes to show that you never know what's right around the corner.

ReplyDeleteI have a friend who feels hopelessly single and a co-worker going through tough times with his wife and what I wish most is that people can feel all types of love on Valentine's Day. I don't think it should always be about love for a partner, spouse, etc., but that it should also be about the love shared between friends and family. I'm trying my best to spread my love today to all those that are special to me (yes, including my dog!) So, I wish you and all your lovely readers all the love they can get today, xoxo.

My fiance and I got together just after Valentine's Day, too! Our dating anniversary is March 5th, and before that I was pretty much convinced I'd be alone forever. (Or at least it felt that way).

This just happened to my best friend who has had such bad luck with love... and all of a sudden, BAM! She's so happy, and I couldn't be more thrilled.
A few years ago, I shared this quote from Heather Armstrong with her, and I always found comfort in it, too:
"In him I found the person whom I knew I would never get tired of, even in the most monotonous of times, even in the routine of being together every single day. I never thought I would find that.
If you haven't already, you will, too."

I love this. That quote definitely gives me hope that the right person is out there for me. I'm 28, very single, and have had my heart stomped on by a few different guys. Today is definitely a lonely day. I cannot wait to find the one for me.

Your Vday story gives me hope. After being with my ex for 6 years, (engaged for 1) and having a baby with him almost 2 years ago, I thought I had found the one. We broke up over a year ago, before our son turned one. Even though I am lonely today, I hope that someone worthy is just around the corner. Because even though he didn't realize it, I was a great girlfriend, a loving fiancee, an awesome mother, and I would have made a wonderful wife. So keep repeating your story, because not only does it make me feel better, but it might make someone else feel better next Valentine's Day too.
