Do you ever get in a food rut? We find ourselves cooking the same few things for dinner, going to the same few restaurants, and eating the same snacks over and over (I'm looking at you, hummus). So, this past fall, I was psyched to discover the snack subscription NatureBox. Have you heard of them? They send you......five bags of natural snacks every month. Suddenly we found ourselves enjoying blueberry almond bites, cinnamon-spiced almonds, banana chips, vanilla granola, lemon pucker pistachios, yogurt pretzels, dried pears and all sorts of treats. Toby loves them so much that it makes my heart sing. The snacks are so much yummier and healthier than some of the other kid and grown-up snacks we’ve eaten in the past.
You can sign up for the regular NatureBox (5 bags for $19.95), the Family Snacker (10 bags for $29.95) or the Professional Snacker (20 bags for $59.95). To be honest, I initially wondered if the snacks seemed expensive, but they're actually comparable to buying from Whole Foods or gourmet groceries. It works out to $3 or $4 per bag, which is amazing. And you can choose the exact snacks you want or let them surprise you.
Anyway, I'd highly recommend them:) Bonus: NatureBox is offering $5 off your first box with the code CUPOFJO, good for two weeks.

(When we were taking these photos, I think Toby couldn't believe that I was randomly letting him just tuck into a whole bag of crackers himself. He was like, "Really?! You're sure?! Okay then!!!")
(This post is sponsored by NatureBox, whose mission and snacks I adore. Photos by Alpha Smoot for Cup of Jo. Thanks, Alpha!)

What a great idea...I am always eating exactly the same thing...Toby looks adorable btw (as if you did not know) : )
ReplyDelete"To be honest, I initially wondered if the snacks seemed expensive, but they're actually comparable to buying from Whole Foods or gourmet groceries."
ReplyDeleteSo, in other words, YES, they're expensive ;)
However wholesome food like this is always more expensive because it costs more to produce, and it's worth it in the long run to avoid feeding ourselves and our children too many preservatives and over-processed junk. This is a great find! Thanks for sharing Joanna!
your son is SO STINKIN CUTE.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try this company. Always fun to get something in the mail, especially if its wholesome snacks.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures of Toby are just hilarious. That does seem pretty reasonably priced, though I can imagine myself eating all the snacks before the month is over!

What a great idea! Yes, we too get in snack/food ruts. And that Toby is such a doll. Love his stripes on stripes outfit.
ReplyDeleteOh man! Toby's LIPS!!!
ReplyDeletethe last photo of Toby is so beautiful :)

Thanks so much for letting us know about this service! I can't wait to get our first box!
ReplyDeleteSo I guess curbing Toby's snacks a la Bringing Up Bebe didn't work out? Not trying to be snarky, just curious if you tried it or not.
ReplyDeleteMargaret I was wondering too! I just finished reading "French Kids Eat Everything", and 'no snacking' was a huge rule. Everything else in the book made sense to me, but no snacks with little kids kinda blew my mind-- honestly having snacks on hand was a lifesaver during my nanny-ing days:)

Hi Gaia, I'm French and for me snacks are very American -- just like posed family pictures on holidays greetings cards ;) But the NatureBox sounds really yummy! French kids have a "goûter", kind of big snack/small meal, at 4 or 5 in the afternoon (dinner at 7 or 8pm in France). And I'll definitely check the book you're talking about, I'm curious!
DeleteOh, man! Now I have another addition to my books to read in 2013! How interesting...Grace loves to snack, but she'll eat greens and sardines like it's nobody's business! :)
Deleteoh I like this. I'm always trying to figure out what to put in Henry's lunch bag for school. He'd be super excited about these snacks.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice idea--and I love getting things delivered. I feel like I'm always losing the creative snack contest at the playground. ;)Maybe this would help.
ReplyDeleteoooo sounds delish!! love feeding people I love healthy stuff that tastes great!
ReplyDeleteOlá Joanna. I´ve been following your blog for ages...since the beginning. I have the feeling i know you a bit. First of all congratulations for your wonderful kid and congratulations for being pregnant, you must be over the clouds.
ReplyDeleteI have a ten month old daughter, Frida, our little miracle.
I'm a Costume Designer but I decided to take one year parental leave. It has been amazing and challenging. In the meantime i found some time to restart my accessory label ZORRA.
If you like it please spread the word.
All the best for you and your wonderful family.

Heard good things about these guys-may have to try them soon!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great initiative! I love the idea of trying new and different healthy snacks. My boyfriend likes to snack something every night (everynight! Without gaining weight! so hard for me not to join), so something like this would be perfect for us.
ReplyDeletelove the cute Toby picture:)

I've been thinking about trying this company for awhile as that is exactly the type of snacks I eat. Will definitely try now. xxoo
ReplyDeleteToby is getting so big! These look delicious!
ReplyDeleteToby is TOO CUTE on those pics!! Especially the 2nd and last ones! (I just had to say that, that's it :)
ReplyDelete-Love from France
what a wonderful idea! going to check out their website now. also, toby? SO CUTE.
ReplyDeleteWhile i am very tempted to try this, i also feel that spending $20/month on snacks is expensive. Yes the snacks are healthy, but once can gets nuts and dry fruits for much cheaper. I also wonder if subscribing to something like this will force us to bing? Also curious to know if those 5 packets are really sufficient for the entire month? Any thought??
ReplyDeletei love the packaging! :)
ReplyDeletesounds great, but i wish they had more nutritious savory options :(
ReplyDeleteyour son is so cute! btw- what lens do you use to take these photos? comes out so nice!
ReplyDeleteAgree with Jenna Kim, your son is so adorable and photogenic.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I haven't received Naturebox myself but glad to see you like them as I gave them as gifts!
Thanks for blogging, I love following you and the family. Congrats on #2!
As I read this, my mouth is currently full of tortilla chips & salsa...busted! I am a total snacker. I need to check this out :)
ReplyDeleteLove love snacks. Even more when they are good for me.

love the idea of finding new healthy snacks, those sound delicious and those pictures of Toby are too cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea!! It's totally like the beauty boxes everyone is into, but better. Because it's food. Yum! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeletecute idea! i will have to check out their website!

such a great idea!! i have to check this company out!!
ReplyDeleteupdate: just ordered my first box. i love the idea of being surprised each month with snacks!!
Deletetoby is literally so beautiful i cannot believe he is even real sometimes. his eyes are so blue, his lips are so red, and his skin is so luminous that he practically glows. he is so perfect!
ReplyDeleteThese look yummy - will definetly give them a try.
ReplyDeleteA couple questions, as I'm intrigued. Are these organic at all, or just healthy/natural. Also, about how many ounces on average are the bags? Honestly, a lot of the healthier foods do tend to run on the pricier side, but it is often worth it for what you get nutrition-wise!
ReplyDeleteYummy! Those do look delicious!
ReplyDeleteGosh I adore pistachio's. Did you ever read 'the pistachio prescription' by Judy Blume when you were younger? I think we all need a prescription of pistachios from time to time!
ReplyDeleteWhat’s Going down i am new to this, I stumbled upon this I have discovered It positively useful and it has helped me out loads.rs accounts for sale.I hope to contribute & aid other customers like its helped me. Great job.
ReplyDeleteToby is SUCH a big boy!!! I feel like I was just reading your birth story!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a picky eater but if I'm not feeling especially drawn to anything on that site then I doubt my kids will be jumping for joy. I've been eating the same snack since I was Toby's age and I don't think of it as being in a rut. A wedge of cheese and some crackers and I'm good to go. I like it. I bring whatever cheese is lying around the house so it is usually Brie, Camembert or sharp cheddar. Sometimes I'll bring a bit of Boursin but I hate having that on my breath. My kids live off of wheat thins, cheddar cheese sticks and apples with Jiff Peanut butter. We are very adventurous when it comes to cooking dinner though and eating out.
ReplyDeleteI SENT NATURE BOX TO MY MOM AS PART OF HER CHRISTMAS PRESENT THIS YEAR, SUCH A GREAT IDEA!! SHE LOVED IT!! THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION JO!!

Toby is beyond adorable!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fantastic! I just ordered my first box and I can't wait to try these delicious snacks =)
ReplyDeleteomg, Toby is KILLING me. SO CUTE. SO SO CUTE. Those huge eyes, the fist of crackers in the mouth ... adorable (and this from a non-kids person). SO CUTE. =)
ReplyDeleteThose look delicious and a lot of the snacks sound like they could be vegan friendly! I'll have to check NatureBox out! xx
ReplyDeletehttp://thehonestfox.blogspot.com
Have you tried Sprigbox? Same concept but not limited to nuts/granola, and instead supports small businesses whose organic/vegan/natural snacks aren't sold at TJ's or Whole Foods... Just received my first Mini-Snacker box. Love the products but it's too small! May have to upgrade to the Snacker...
ReplyDeleteToby's face is priceless <3 Bless!
ReplyDeleteYum! They sound so delish, and Toby looks adorable. He looks like such a perfect mixture of you and your husband.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful pictures of Toby. The snacks sound awesome. Pistachios are one of my favorite nuts!
ReplyDeletebeautiful pictures of toby!
ReplyDeletei want a snack like that right now :)
Nice xxx

Toby has beautiful eyes! We do get into food ruts, too. It's tough to be creative sometimes with what we feed our families. Have you ever tried Grace's Best Sunflower Cookies? http://www.gracesbestcookies.com/
ReplyDeleteThey are ridiculously delicious. :)
Loved this post. Logged on and bought the Super Bowl Special from Naturebox. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Oh my, I'm going to have to check out this Nature Box!! Looks like your little darling is enjoying them! Thanks for sharing!

The first picture of Toby is beautiful. He made my heart melt with those big blue eyes!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just ordered these! With your promo code, you really can't beat the price- especially if you upgrade to the $29.95 package. I can't wait to taste the Dark Chocolate Trail Mix and the Garlic Roasted Pumpkin Seeds. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea! Maybe not as much for regular family snacks, as some others have mentioned that you can buy these for the same price at a grocery store or cheaper in bulk. But I love this as a gift idea, like care packages for a college student. I would love to send this to my husband at work, as he spends long hours in front of a computer and I worry about him eating pop tarts from the office vending machine! :P Thanks, Joanna!
ReplyDelete(And Toby is SOO cute! Little heartbreaker)
I love this idea! I'm so sick of carrot sticks and wheat thins. Can't wait to try this!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww! I never really commented .. but then I saw those photos of Toby. GOD, he is SO SO SO cute!
ReplyDeleteIs it possible that Toby is getting even cuter! I can't believe how crazy cute he is!!
ReplyDeleteCould Toby look any cuter here??!? I hope NatureBox uses some of these photos for their advertising because they are so great! You can tell he's in love with his treats :)
ReplyDelete-Kristina
Here in the UK there's something similar called Graze Boxes (https://www.graze.com/uk/). They come once or twice a week, as you like, and they fit through your letterbox. I interviewed the guy behind it, Simon Morris (http://moreintelligentlife.com/node/3696) and he was a kickboxing dude!
ReplyDeletekassia
...you've won me over, I'm ordering some right now :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation! This is really pricey for our family BUT I really want to give the $5 code was a great incentive. The bags looks small but will be excited to get our first shipment!
ReplyDeleteNote to Naturebox - your website when used on an iPhone SUCKS!!! I spent about 30 mins customizing my first order yet where is it? It disappeared.
ReplyDeleteJust have to tell you Toby is so adorable! Those eyes and that complextion, he's a doll!
ReplyDeleteA snack subscription??? OMG! Tks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteTotally off topic, but Toby is really starting to look like you Joanna!
ReplyDeleteJust bit the bullet and got a subscription! I'm a college student, so it's not cheap, but this will be so much more delicious and healthy than my usual library snack of almonds and chocolate chips, emphasis on the chocolate chips.
