James Bond coffeetable book celebrating 50 years, $18.45. Also because everyone secretly thinks your dad's a spy.

James Bond model cars for his desk, $40.

Personal puzzle, $24.99. With a favorite family snapshot (say, of everyone at the beach, you dancing together at your wedding or a baby photo from years back...).

The complete first season of Homeland. He will flipping love it. $34.96.
Cashmere watch cap, since that's what all the cool guys are wearing. $68.

A genius food basket from New York Mouth. My favorites include The Total Jerk and Choc-lot Taster. $40 to $165.

A bottle of red wine with this tag (best read with an English accent). $4.50.

Lego Big Ben, $39.95. You're never too old for Legos, and this one is tough (with 346 tiny pieces).

Indestructible umbrella, $70. Instead of wimpy umbrellas that end up in the garbage, he can carry this aerodynamic umbrella with a patented Radial Tensioning System. Perfect for Michigan winters.
Silhouette mug featuring a personal photo, $50 for custom. (I'm thinking of using this shot:)

2013 calendar featuring two of his favorite things, $24. Update: These will be back in stock early next week. xoxo
P.S. More gifts for dads, and the 2012 gift guide so far...

Loving all the James Bond stuff - perfect for my dad! And I can't get over those food baskets :)
ReplyDeleteOmg, Jo! My boyfriend will FLIP over those James Bond model cars! He's an anglophile who can't get enough James Bond or Top Gear.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Great ideas, Jo! Dad is always the hardest, followed by brother. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteLove it all! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteP.S Sadly, it's now "Elizabeth's Tower"... Love the queen and all but ya, it will always be Big Ben to me :(
Whaaaaaaaaaaa?! Big Ben in my book! I'm still adjusting to the whole "Willis Tower" instead of Sears Tower thing.
DeleteBravo, Joanna! These are excellent!
ReplyDeleteI love this list! My dad is so hard to shop for, he's the absolute pickiest! The worst part is he will, without shame, tell you he doesn't like a gift.

ReplyDeleteI need that calendar for my professional brewer boyfriend! I'm so happy to have seen it here!
ReplyDeleteI need that calender! I can't wait for the restock! :)
ReplyDeleteI love love love your gift guides Jo! The only problem is that I keep adding them to my own wishlist, rather than buying them for other people. Oh dear...

Love the beer calendar--such cool designs!
ReplyDeleteGreat rebuttal to that weird piece on nymag. It pissed me off too. You did a great job of standing up for yourself and the decision to write (or not) about sex in general.
ReplyDeleteI agree, that NY Mag piece was strange. As much of a pro-sex feminist as I am, I get a little bothered when other women stipulate what being a feminist entails.
DeleteOn a completely separate note, Joanna, as silly as it is, can you include your old final sentimental gifts... ex: "a letter saying how much you love him, since that’s all he really wants anyway." That was always my favorite part of your gift guides:)
haha! i love the title of this gift guide, joanna :) my dad is pretty much just like that.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to get a family photo puzzle made up, pull it out for everyone to work on after Christmas dinner, and then let everyone be surprised when they realize what it is after the picture starts to come together. Maybe this year I'll finally get around to doing it!
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog, and I love it. Just been flicking from one post to the next, which is the sign of a good blog. :)
I'm drooling over the choc-lot selection! Oh and Damien Lewis ;)

Homeland is riveting! My favorite show. Great gift guide.
ReplyDeleteAs a Brit, I flipping love that you said 'flipping' because I flipping use it all the flipping time! My three year old used it this week too. Not sure what I flipping think of that!
ReplyDeleteGreat gift guide! Just went and bought the Bond coffee table book for my own Dad. What a relief, Dad's are the hardest to shop for :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is hilarious because it's been the running joke among basically all my friend groups (and boyfriends) that my Dad is secretly a spy because he's Russian, good looking and travels to exotic places for his job.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for coming up with such a clever gift guide! I *never* know what to get my dad.
Thank you so much for including my calendar!! Great collection - I am totally buying that photo puzzle - love your blog too
ReplyDelete- heidi
