Remember this beautiful bride from the canoe elopement? I was really taken by her rosy cheeks, so Toby and I walked over to Sephora to see the Mata Hari blush in person. It's a beautiful mix of pink and crimson, and one great thing is that you don't need much other makeup when you have flushed cheeks. I've been pairing it with chapstick for that just-walked-inside-from-the-cold look. Do you ever wear blush? I'd definitely recommend this one...P.S. Navy nails.

She looks gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMe? WIth my Scottish-Tilda Swinton- white skin, blush makes me look like Bozo, the Clown from the 60's.
Always! I'm very pale, and growing up my mother always told me that I looked like a ghost if I didn't put on some "rouge". Couple that with my love for the blushing look, and the fact that on non-blush days people ask me if I'm feeling ill, and you'll always find me with blush on. My musts for cosmetics are foundation, blush, and mascara. All else is negotiable.

ReplyDeleteI wear blush every day! It's a necessity!
ReplyDeleteI don't wear makeup at all, so this looks really garish to me. I think it depends on what you're used to, though.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I thought it looked pretty garish too.
Deletejust recently discovered the magic of blush. so glad you posted about it! i'm definitely in search of that "magic color" so i'll have to pop on over to sephora sometime to check this one out!
ReplyDeleteCan't remember the last time I had time to put on make-up!! I miss looking nice! Have to try it again some time! :P
ReplyDeleteHer makeup is really pretty. I want to wear blush more often, but I don't really need it so I usually skip it. It does add a special touch though!
ReplyDeleteLove those rosy cheeks! I'll have to check that out! :)

after you posted the elopement story of these two... i went IMMEDIATELY to sephora to see the blush in person. its gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about this lovely bride's makeup ever since you initially posted their elopement. I was hesitant about the color given my (very) fair skin, but I've loved wearing this look.
ReplyDeleteShe looks beautiful! I wear blush on my night outs like on date night or a girls night. I love the rosy look.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a bit much, it doesn't very look natural. The colour is lovely, but it's applied over a too big area and a bit too heavy.
ReplyDeleteI wear blush every day. Blush, chap stick and some concealer is my everyday look, so quick and easy!
Yes! I'm also extremely pale and people have been known to ask if I'm sick as well when I don't wear blush so blush is a must everyday for me! My current fav is the Nars Orgasm colour which is fantastic for us albino like women but I'm definitely gonna check out this new Mata Hari next time I'm in Sephora:)
ReplyDeleteI've always said that blush, chapstick and mascara is all a girl needs. I started using Estee Lauder's Pure Color Blush in Pink Ingenue - it is the perfect rosy-pink color and you can wear it year-round. It also lasts FOREVER!
ReplyDeleteI never use blush since I'm already pretty blushy as it is. In fact I'm sort of makeup illiterate, but it's funny you bring it up, since I suddenly became interested in foundation and ordered some Bare Escentuals mineral powder yesterday just to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI've recently been using a blush from Victoria's Secret - Luminous Mineral Blush Duo. I was watching a show called 'The Real L Word' and one of the girls on the show had amazing super blushy cheeks and I was inspired to try it out myself. Loving it!

Great color. It makes sense this looks so good. Apparently there was a study where the participants were told to alter photos so the faces looked healthier, and they all made them rosier.
ReplyDeleteBlush is my one go to. Even if I don't have makeup anywhere else, rosy cheeks always make me feel more peppy. I alternate blushes all the time - my faves are NARS, YSL, Chanel and Shu Uemura. A good brush is key too.
ReplyDeleteI love blush. Nars are usually my favorite. Light touch for lots of pigment.

I always wear blush, otherwise I look like an extra from The Walking Dead. I love this rosy look too. In fact, after wearing my overly emphasized pink-cheek Halloween makeup, I realized I actually look better with the brightly colored cheeks. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteGreat tips! May I ask what color the navy polish is, the link doesn't seem to be working. Thanks so much Joanna :-)
ReplyDeleteI have to wear blush. Though lately I've tried using bronzer instead to keep it more natural. I should probably go back to blush--especially this winter.
ReplyDeleteI get a little annoyed when you write about blush bc it is SORTA my beauty secret :) People always comment on my rosy cheeks and think its natural, but nope. If you get the right kind and apply it to the apples, it looks like you just came in from the cold. love it. However my husband still prefers me to be all natural and not wear it, but I don't think he realizes what he really likes, haha.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I'd love to check it out at Sephora.
ReplyDeleteIf I wear makeup it's usually a cheek or a lip with a light coat of mascara. I personally love NARS Desire, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI can NOT live without Bare Escentuals blush. I use the aphrodisia shade, but it's all about what works for you!
ReplyDeleteThe meaning of Mata Hari= Matahari is Sun. It's Bahasa (Indonesian language). Thought you might find it interesting to know :)
ReplyDeleteTressabel
I wear blush everyday. It makes me glow - without it I look pale.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw those photos on your site, I bought the Mata Hari blush. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI was totally inspired by that navy nails post, but I don't like the navy shade I ended up with as well as I like that picture. The link just goes to Essie polish but not exactly which shade she's wearing. Please help!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! an air-conditioned article dude. Acquire you About I am experiencing activity with ur rss . Don???‚¬?„?t apperceive why Clumsy to subscribe to it. Is there anybody accepting an identical rss downside? Anyone who knows alert respond. Thnkx

I think there is a secret power to blush. :) Never underestimate it!
ReplyDeleteI just love her rustic style wedding dress!
ReplyDeleteBlush is my secret weapon - nothing perks up a face with a dose of prettiness like it. I really like "amore" by NARS too.
ReplyDeleteI love wearing blush! It really brightens up your face. My favorite forever was Lancome Cosmopolitan Pink, but it was discontinued. I now use NARS Desire, but just a tiny bit because it's so bright!
ReplyDeleteI agree! Mata Hari blush is the perfect daytime flush. I love to swap for a Nars shimmer blush at night.
ReplyDeleteI use The Balm Stainiac cheek stain. I started wearing it about a year ago, and now if I don't wear it people think I'm ill. Curse you pale skin!
ReplyDeleteI love the blush! With the blush you don't need other makeup (just some eyes concealer) and you can look beautiful but keeping a natural appearance!
ReplyDeleteI never ever go out without blush ! It's just makes you look more healty and alive !
ReplyDeleteI agree rosy cheeks are the best during the fall and winter. It makes you look so healthy. I have been really enjoying Tarte's 12-hour amazon clay blush in natural beauty these days. It is really flattering on both my pasty skin and my roommates beautiful bronzed skin.

I have been wearing my Nars Desire (a hot pink) and just mascara for everyday for a year... I love it!
ReplyDeleteLovely plaid, and indeed lovely blush!
