Hurricane Sandy Bake Sale

We're having a bake sale downtown this Sunday to raise money for the hurricane relief efforts. Please come say hello and enjoy delicious treats. Kids are warmly welcome to help bake and eat, too. It will be fun; hope to see you there! xoxo

P.S. If you'd like to donate baked goods, that would be amazing; please package them as 2-3 cookies/brownies and label what you're donating. Feel free to bring them by anytime during the sale. Thank you so much!

  6. What a great idea! Maybe Toby will be there to help increase your sales too?

Also: maybe give bake sale contributors a reminder to indicate any nut products on their labels! :)

  9. Great work Joanna. We just did this among several communities in Brooklyn (four locations over two days) and were able to raise a ton of money! We were lucky enough to take some of the kids to the soup kitchen that has gone from serving 500 meals a day to 3000 meals a day in the wake of the storm. They were really kind to us and happy to take the donation from the kids. Hope your experience is also profitable for the charity and rewarding for the kids involved. So great you are doing something that lets kids help as well--I think many of them really want to.

  19. Hi Joanna,

I don't have kids or anything, but I am a vegan baker and I live in the area. I'll definitely make some vegan treats-- I could also make some gluten-free if you feel there's a need/desire? Can I come and help in other aspects as well? Anybody keeping track of what people are already bringing and what else is needed to create some variety? I can do cupcakes, cookies, brownies, quickbreads, anything that you feel like is missing.

Feel free to shoot me an email at la.voyageuse@gmail.com, or pass my info along to somebody else.

Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks!

  21. I love it! What a wonderful way to involve children and empower them to make a difference in their own community... We can't make the bake sale, but would love to make a cash donation. Is there a paypal account we can make a contribution to?
