Have you guys been watching Homeland? Alex and I are obsessed. The show follows a bipolar CIA agent (Claire Danes), who suspects that a rescued prisoner of war (Damian Lewis), who has just returned to the United States, has actually become a terrorist. It is SO TENSE. You're on the edge of your seat for the whole show.
We got the first season on DVD and have been glued to it every night for the past week. It’s funny when you have the dvds and can watch all the shows in a row, because it gets in your head. Usually when we go to bed, we talk about Toby or life or whatever, but now we get in bed and we’re like, "Oh my gosh! What do you think her deal is?!!! Who do you think was on the call?!!"
P.S. Claire Dane's cryface.

I'm so obsessed with this show too! My boyfriend and I are catching up on Season 2 at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about having shows on dvd- it totally gets in your head and that's all you think about. I have LOST on dvd, and whenever I go back and rewatch it, I end up watching ALL of it and it's like I am on the island, haha.
ReplyDeletewww.revitalizewithstefania.blogspot.com
I'll never forget Claire Dane's cry face from Romeo & Juliet...she is epic! I haven't caught any of this show, but I think I'm going to put season 1 on my Christmas list! =)thanks for the heads up on an awesome show!
ReplyDeleteErgo - Blog
we have had a Homeland marathon for the last 3 nights. I love it! I keep thinking that the story line is going to get stale but every show has a new twist. Very well done.
ReplyDeleteWOH! My main man and I have JUST started watching this and it totally does get in your head. We also just finished re-watching Band of Brother with Damian Lewis so all I can think about is him!You have to wonder if it gets under OUR skin how it must feel to act in it??
ReplyDeleteWe are also obsessed - just watched season 1 on DVD the weekend before Thanksgiving and then caught up on season 2 last weekend and I can barely think about anything else!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are also obsessed. When I heard it was a political type show I didn't even want to give it a chance. I watched the first 10 mins of the 1st episode at my bf's moms and then had to get showtime so we could watch it every week. I love how intense it always stays.
ReplyDeleteLooooved the first season. Second season, mehh.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE that show!!!! Soooooo good.
ReplyDeleteYep, totally hooked. We started watching it On Demand and have one more episode to go. If you think Season One is great...oh, just wait until you get to Season Two. The worst part about it for us is turning it off after just one episode!
ReplyDeleteOh me and my boyfriend are the same. Completely obsessed! It's such an amazing script and the actors...They couldn't have a better cast. Claire Danes is genius in it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm actually thinking about a new drinking game. Every time Carrie cries, we need to drink.Ah ah ah! Is there enough vodka in this world?
Love,
Diana from http://thegirlwhocouldntbeafashionista.blogspot.ie/
My husband and me are obsessed, too!!!!!!!! Love this show! After every show we can´t believe we have to wait for another week to see the next episode.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are obsessed too! I remember recommending it to a friend and saying, "and you find yourself falling for the suspected terrorist too"! Her and her husband are hooked as well. Wait till you see season 2...it gets even better!
ReplyDeleteI just started watching the X-Files on Netflix. Old school and awesome! I love having a show to be obsessed with and binge watch. I'm totally planning to check out Homeland at some point.
ReplyDeleteUgh, it's so good. We're caught up and season 2 is almost done, this comment would have been a lot longer with more of these "?!?!" but I don't want to spoil anything.
ReplyDeleteI am totally hooked! I started watching during the hurricane and haven't stopped! I wish I was you and still had Season 2 to watch, haha! I'm all caught up and Sunday night's episode was so good!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I are obsessed too! We count down till Sunday nights at 10!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I love this show! We watched Season 1 in a two-day marathon - we could not stop watching!! It's great and the chemistry/tension between Carrie and Brody is smokin'!
ReplyDeletewww.jenandwillsnorthamericanadventure.blogspot.com
My husband and I just finished S01- Ep 09... so intense. We are completely addicted and continually have to make ourselves take a break!
ReplyDeleteSooooooo obsessed! I finished the first season last night (after a three-episodes-in-a-row-er) and tossed and turned for HOURS. I was actually getting heart palpitations all week, thinking about what was going on in the show.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a television at home but I definitely make time to watch Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, and The Walking Dead on my computer every week!
OMG wait till you get to the second season! It's ridiculous! It makes my palms sweat. And who knew terrorists could be so cute? And gingers?!
ReplyDeleteyeaaaah!!!i m in love about homeland!
ReplyDeletethank you for this blog, it is quite good, congrats
www.somelier.ro
We just finished watching the other nights episode. We have a theory that there's a good episode, then a not so good one, then a good one again. Am I the only one who thinks Brody's daughter is annoying?
ReplyDeleteShe's an eyebrow actor.
DeleteEeeeexactly! My husband and I also annoyed by her eyebrows. And pout. Hanging on for new episodes of Season 2 each week now...
DeleteI love it! I started watching an Israeli show (with English subtitles) called 'Hatufim' over the weekend. Homeland is apparently based on this show. It's also very good!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I watched the first two seasons of Game of Thrones in a marathon over thanksgiving (20 hours of TV!!).
ReplyDeleteWe went to bed talking about the power of dragons and how they relate to our capitalist society and Tyrion the Imp keeps coming into my dreams. It's like fiction immersion.
Not obsessed... yet! I'm really into Danish TV drama at the moment, I LOVE Borgen and The Killing, highly recommended!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I got my boyfriend hooked on Alias and we watched all of the seasons back to back. This sound like it could be promising...
ReplyDeleteLove it! My husband and I started watching when we got Showtime for free this month, and now we're keeping it because we want to see the rest of the episodes this season!!!
ReplyDeleteWe just finished watching season 1 over the weekend! Loved it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are addicted to it, too. Did you see this SNL spoof starring Anne Hathaway? It's HILARIOUS - and so spot on! :)
ReplyDeleteUm, my husband and I are OBSESSED! Claire Danes is fantastic in it...but I actually think Mandy Patinkin is my fave, so wise and fatherly, right? Just wait til you get to season 2...
ReplyDeleteMy fiance and I are OBSESSED! We just started watching season one on Sunday and whoops maybe we sat on the couch the entire day? I'm not sure what we're going to do with ourselves when we get all caught up. Maybe Downtown Abby?
ReplyDeletexx,
Kate at ummmnowwhat.blogspot.com
I love this show! My boyfriend and I started it during Thanksgiving and are already on Season 2. So addictive, also I agree check out the SNL skit, it will make you look at it in a whole new way!
ReplyDeleteOMG I LOVE Homeland. It's easily one of my favorites on TV. The twists and turns. Brody might be a terrorist but he's hot! I also absolutely love you threw in the cry face...it's terrible and awesome at the same time :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE this show, husband and I are completely OBSESSED! Hate that we are all caught up now, we watched the first seasons on "OnDemand" so it was nice not having to wait A WEEK for the next episode.
ReplyDeletewatched season 1
ReplyDeleteseason two great...
love love love....
I´ll have to check this show out but this is how my husband and I felt about The Wire. Every night we would watch an episode before bed and discuss it until one of us fell asleep. Genius show.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that guy is in Homeland!!! I loved him in that one show about the cop who was framed for murder and then got out. He was SO GOOD in that.
ReplyDeleteOBSESSED! I am literally stopping strangers in the street to tell them how good it is! NEVER ENOUGH!
ReplyDeletei'll have to put this on our list. we're now obsessed with breaking bad. my husband told me he's working late tonight and i insisted he get home early enough so we can watch at least one episode before bed. shows are sooo much better without commercials and one episode after another!
ReplyDeleteDon't you mean Claire Danes', or, alternatively, Danes's, cryface? :) Just got into a grammar discussion about this with a friend so it's on my mind.
ReplyDeletePS It did take me a while to stop thinking "It's Soames from the Forsyte Saga"...
ReplyDeleteLove this show!
ReplyDeleteBest. Show. Ever. We are halfway into season 1 - obsessed. I think 2 and a half episodes has been our longest marathon before we force ourselves to go to bed...the baby gets up at 5!
ReplyDeleteI hear nothing but good things about Homeland...can't waiitt to start watching! As soon as I'm done with Louie (which is awesome in a totally different way), I'm starting on Homeland. Has anyone gotten into Treme?
ReplyDeleteyes! and I got my mom to start watching too and now she encourages me to stay up to date so we can dish :)
ReplyDeleteI am literally waiting for the latest episode which is on in an hour. You’re right about it being tense. Last week was a watch-through-your-fingers episode!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend was recovering from an operation a few weeks ago so we watched the whole first series in two days. We could talk of nothing else!
yes - you should do Breaking Bad next. We already worked our way thru that...you and Alex would enjoy.
ReplyDeletewe just watched Season 1 of Homeland over the Thanksgiving break. It was awesome!
ReplyDeleteOooo, I may have to check it out! I've been like that with Numb3rs. Love. Love. Love.
ReplyDeleteMy roommate(s) and I would discuss Grey's Anatomy like that in college! You'd think we were discussing some world changing topic.

My boyfriend and I experienced a Hurricane Sandy/Homeland miracle documented here: http://frommpdaily.blogspot.com/2012/10/thank-you-time-warner.html
ReplyDeleteWe are completely caught up and love it! This weeks episode was especially good, the whole office was buzzing!
When you catch up, make sure you watch the SNL skit about Homeland. Anne Hathaway plays Carrie, and it is spot-on HILARIOUS!
ReplyDeleteI saw that- SO funny!
DeleteIt's so good! I've been spoiled by watching so many shows on DVD all in a row. I'm watching Season 2 of Homeland on current TV and it's so frustrating when it ends and there isn't another to put on!
ReplyDeleteHa! So funny and I loved the extra "cry face" bonus!!
ReplyDeleteHomeland is amazing, I haven't yet watched season 1......but was up til 1am last night watching 3 episodes of season 2!!!!! I absolutely love box sets, once you start them, it's hard to do anything else isn't it??!!
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE Homeland! Husband and I have actually gone back and are watching past episodes of Life, do you know that show? It stars Damian Lewis (who plays Brody) and only ran for two seasons but it was pure brilliance. He is such a fantastic actor.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are obsessed with this show! We missed out on Season 1 so we went back and watched all the episodes to catch up. It totally messes with your head because now we have to wait a whole week to see another episode instead of pushing play on the dvd lol. We were like that with Dexter as well. Saw Season 1-6 in about 2 months and were just silly obsessed.
ReplyDeletewww.notesfromtheslife.com
Oh man. I love this show (hard to go wrong with Mandy Patinkin, really) but it stresses me out to no end. I can't remember the last time I yelled "WHAT ARE YOU DOING???" at a character on television 30 times per episode and yet still continued to watch the show religiously.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, WHAT IS SHE DOING???!!!
we have been watching since the beginning...truly an amazing show. so impressed with everything! also her cryface is a little hilarious.
ReplyDeleteClaire Danes does one of the best fake cries in Hollywood. Love her. I haven't seen Homeland, but goodness knows I trust your recommendation! It also relieves me to know that you still have time to watch your favorite shows once you have kids. Things you've suggested that I've tried and loved: your mashed potatoes recipe, The Glass Castle, and the double braid. Thank you!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.chezglaser.com
I love it. What's even more impressive is Damian's American accent, it's hard to believe he's English at times!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying out different, new shows this fall...My roommate turned me onto Covert Affairs and Bones, both shows I would never have picked for myself, but they are just fascinating!
ReplyDeletewe've been meaning to start this show - thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the best shoe on TV right now, even better then Dexter. I actually just got Showtime so I could watch the new season and then I will cancel it after Homeland is over for the season.
ReplyDeleteI watch Homeland religiously, it's my favorite show (currently) on television until Mad Men comes back. Plus, it's the one show I watch with my mother (wierd. I know.) that we both really dig. Except I always leave the room when the *ahem* nudity comes on -- somethings are better left unseen with your parents.
ReplyDeleteOk, we've got to start this one. I love Claire Danes and Damien Lewis! Wonder if it's on Hulu or Netflix ...?
ReplyDeleteNope;(
DeleteThis show is AMAZING. My boyfriend and I are Soooo obsessed. The writing is just phenomenal and I think season 2 is just as good if not better than season 1.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know what it feels like. My husband and I are also obsessed and just finished season 2. We can't wait for the next season...
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Germany!
I LOVE this show!! I can't wait for the next episode and will have serious withdrawals when this season is over!
ReplyDeleteAm sure you saw this....it made me laugh out loud
ReplyDeletehttp://girlfromthehills.wordpress.com/2012/11/20/homeland-spoof/
LOVE LOVE Homeland! Glad I'm not alone in my obsession with the show.
ReplyDeleteThis show is SO addicting. The writers are genius!
ReplyDeleteOMG. OBSESSED COMPLETELY. Convinced that Damian Lewis and Claire Danes are the best actors on tv right now.
ReplyDeletebest. show. ever.
ReplyDeletebest. show. ever.

I am totally hooked too! And I have a theory... Carrie is every neurotic woman's hero... it's like, she's a little crazy and seemingly paranoid...but her intuition is spot on so she is completely justified in her neuroses. Plus she plays a marvelous manic-don't ya think?
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say - yes to Homeland! But more importantly - when talking about disabilities, it is best if you put the person before the disability! Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are hooked on this show in a scary way! I don't think I've liked a show this much since the first season of Breaking bad. Thanks for the link to the article about Claire Danes cry face. Excellent stuff!
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed too! It's all me and my boyfriend seem to talk about at the moment! Sophie x
ReplyDeleteMy fam watched this all together over Thanksgiving! SO GOOD. And I don't do war dramas.
ReplyDeleteLove this show, my favorite. My boyfriend and I are long-distance. I told him he needs to watch so we can discuss the show, and he ended up getting hooked and watching all of season 1 and catching up on season 2 in 4 days!
ReplyDeleteI am also obsessed! Been trying to get the boyfriend to watch, but so far no luck. Funny...watching the episode I missed right now... :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds good - I love Claire Danes. I know what you mean about shows getting in your head. My husband and I are watching Freaks and Geeks on netflix right now and I think about the characters ALL the time! Such a great show.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'll need to watch this! I need a new series to get in to while I wait for Downton Abbey to come out on DVD. I don't have tv, so watch series on DVD and agree with you that it's the best way to watch them...one episode right after another or over the course of a week.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this show!!!
ReplyDeletei'll have to watch this! so many people say it's SO good. my husband and i always joke that we're like the portlandia couple when we get hooked on a new series:
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/aQttrkzWOo4
:)
Homeland is soooo good. I love it!!
ReplyDeleteHowever, when Carrie and Brody get together, it drives me crazy!
http://swagnstyle.blogspot.ca
It's just brilliant - so deserving of all the Emmy Awards it won. It IS available on Netflix - season 1. We watch it in real time and Sunday to Sunday is LONG.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I just watched the whole season last month. We were obsessed too, I had dreams about it! It only took us two weeks to finish. We watched the season two premiere online, but we don't have cable so we have to wait a while until we can watch season 2 unfortunately!
ReplyDeleteWe love it too. Watch the ann hathaway parodic impression on SNL. "She's having a jazz freakout!".
ReplyDeleteIf you love Homeland, check out Justified on FX!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I got rid of my cable since we hardly watch anything but Netflix and Hulu but Homeland is seriously the only thing I miss! It's torture!

Our Netflix DVD - Season 1, Disk 1 - arrives tomorrow! Hubby and I can't wait to get started on this series. I've read so much about it, and he really likes the lead (can't think of his name) since he loved him in Band of Brothers. Can't wait to start!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to look forward to Sunday nights.

my boyfriend and I are obsessed!! It really saved us from losing our minds during the hurricane without subways and work. It's about time a new good show got started!!!
ReplyDeleteI also had crazy dreams about it last night. It totally gets in my head.
ReplyDeleteSoooooo good!!
ReplyDeleteSoooooo good!!
ReplyDeleteOh. MY. GOD. Homeland is OUTRAGEOUSLY good. I hope it never ends. Every week it's painful to realize I have to wait an entire week to see it again.
ReplyDeleteOh. MY. GOD. Homeland is OUTRAGEOUSLY good. I hope it never ends. Every week it's painful to realize I have to wait an entire week to see it again.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Homeland. It's definitely the best show on TV. It sounds silly, but I'm also getting hooked on the Walking Dead and Breaking Bad in case you are looking for a few more shows that are worth watching.
ReplyDeleteWe have it here in New Zealand too - like Abbie, we can't wait for the each week's episode. It shows here on Monday nights at 8.30pm - a great start to the week. It is a brilliant show - well scripted, and well acted. Totally addictive!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!!! The script is genius!!! And Claire Danes just nails it!
ReplyDeleteWe sat around last February when we found out I was pregnant and it was pouring rain everyday and wtched Downton Abbey! We were trying to enjoy our just s status :). I rewatched all the Downton Abbey with my mom when she came out to spend a month with us when the baby was born. My husband is in the army and we are in Jerusalem for three years. We are both from Los Angeles and our parents are still there.
ReplyDeletewatchseries.eu is awesome for watching shows if you haven't heard of it.

you guys should check out "revenge". im sure you'll love it too!
ReplyDeleteMy husband love Homeland
ReplyDeleteand we have been seeing it on de PC laying on the bed
love those moments!
Obsessed!!!
ReplyDeleteJust got into this show! We watch it from netflix.. all I wish is that the intro was shorter:)
ReplyDeleteLove it - I didn't watch the first season when it was on, but downloaded the whole season and watched on my iPad before the second season started. I'm usually an episode behind, since I record it on Sunday and watch during the week when I'm in the mood. It's great - love Claire Danes - I have since "My So-Called Life", which I watched as an adult.
ReplyDeleteShowtime has some great series, which is the only reason I subscribe!
I've watched Homeland week after week since the broadcast of the pilot, and I end up screaming at the screen almost every single episode. My roommate and I are absolutely obsessed, and probably we're going to need some medical assistance for the season finale.
ReplyDeleteClaire Danes ALWAYS makes the best cry faces.
ReplyDeleteyes! obsessed!
ReplyDeleteHomeland is THE BEST! Gah, I'm obsessed! I threw caution to the wind about a month ago and subscribed to SHOtime, so now my roommate & I can snuggle on the couch every Sunday with a giant tub of popcorn and indulge in 52ish minutes of pure, unadulterated addictive television! Three episodes left in season 2 and I am GOING CRAZY.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're addicted, J! You're gonna diiiiiiie once you and Alex watch season two!
PS - please tell me you've seen the Homeland SNL spoof! Anne Hathaway killed it on the ugly cry!
http://www.hulu.com/watch/423747
Beyond crazy for this show. Claire Danes does a stellar job in her role. She nails looking cray cray.
ReplyDeleteIf you want a good laugh, when you get caught up on Season 2, you should follow https://twitter.com/SergeantBrody....
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend won't watch this with me but I so wish he would! It looks incredible and I've got such a thing for Damian Lewis, definitely going to have to ask for it for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSeries one was incredible! We tell everyone we know to watch it. So worth it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoying series two. Still plenty to get stuck in to :)
I love her cry face. It's the best!
ReplyDeletei've been on the fence about starting this show, in the exact same way i am with Breaking Bad. they both seem super intense, and though i'm completely addicted to all things action meets crime, i'm worried it might be too much. the article you linked to about Ms. Danes totally convinced me that i should give this a whirl. the character development sounds spot on, and i do love her so. xx, e
ReplyDeleteI haven't started it yet but I'm about to download them all. The show won so many awards this year and I've heard nothing but good things. At first, I thought it was going to be another 24 show and I wasn't interested. But it looks really good :)
ReplyDeleteI also get into shows like that. My boyfriend and I are OBSESSED with Sons of Anarchy. It's so intense. My mom just got into it and my sister is too. Jake (my boyfriend) and I talk about the characters like they're friends. Funny how TV affects your life :)
Is the season 2 OUT?! I became obsessed with this show while living in Cambodia because I had the entire CD. It was really intense.
ReplyDeleteWe watched the first season a few months ago and we've been hooked ever since. It's such an great show.
ReplyDeleteThe post is talking about homeland. Read to know more
ReplyDeleteCD Replication
Only gets better in Season 2!
