Have a fun weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? We're going out for pasta tonight (I already decided on this) and tomorrow my friend is having a baby shower. I'm excited to share the rest of the 2012 gift guide, coming up next week! Have a good one, and if you're in a blog-reading mood, here are 15 fun links from around the web...

Woody Allen answers 12 unusual questions.

Why you should tell your children you're beautiful.

Cool tape.

New York in a nutshell.

Cupboards: Don't forget the inside!

What a pretty skirt.

Blueberry breakfast cake.

An airplane school? Toby would flip.

Let's bring back the dinner party.

Would you wear reflexology sandals?

10 blog posts every new mom should read. (Thank you, Stroller Traffic.)

This guy's a cutie.

An inspiring 103-year-old grandmother.

A cute snowflake diaper for the holidays.

After I wrote about being happy to see your children, one reader pointed out that your eyes should light up for everyone you love, which was a great point. Sometimes when Alex gets home, I'm harried and toss a quick hello over my shoulder. I'm going to change that asap!

Also, after the enthusiastic response to COATT morse code jewelry, the designer is offering 20% off to Cup of Jo readers until December 7th. Just email her at info@coattonline.com with CUP OF JO in the subject line.

I'm totally on board with bringing the dinner party back! Maybe it's my southern roots (and aspirations to be Martha Stewart) but I love a good dinner party. It has been on my mind for a few years since I read another NY Times article on the secret, invitation only dinner party/restaurants in NYC and San Fran. So, when are we coming over for dinner ;)

Joanna, your dinner plans reminded me of your family challenge to make dinner at home every night for a month. How did it go? Will you do a retrospective post on it- or did I miss that already? Have a great weekend!

Joanna, that post about telling your daughters you're beautiful is just incredible. I cried and saved it in a google drive file labeled "remember this when you're a mom." Thank you.

Oh so interesting about the dinner party disappearing from NY. For us, in the smallest capital city in Australia it is alive and well. We dine with friends at least four times a week. Our place or someone else's. Nothing too formal, certainly no stressful menu planning, and definitely not an intended networking event. We do it because we can cook better food and create better atmosphere than most of the local restaurants, and who wants to spend a fortune on food you can do better at home? Once space is at a premium (like in NY apartments) then I can see how it would just be easier to meet somewhere else. I think eating together is a very important part of life, for us humans, and it will survive. Whether it is in a home or restaurant.

Happy Friday, Joanna. I LOVED LOVED LOVED your post on being happy to see your children. So spot on. You made me think about my 3 kiddos and also my own mother. I LOVE calling my mom because I know I always will get that same upbeat hello every time. Always. I also appreciate one of the reader's comments about being happy to see everyone you love. So true. Will keep that one in mind. And lastly, I love a good dinner party. Let's bring them back! Have a great weekend.

My friends and I have dinner parties every week. We call them Sunday Night Dinners (SNDs). We have been doing this for 5 years and only miss a couple Sundays a year. Sometimes there are themes: Italian food, the Olympics, the color Blue, Bite Sized Foods, the Oscars etc... My friends and I are in our late 20s and early 30s, and we are keeping the dinner party traditional alive!

Can you subtly hint at when a link is from NYT? I don't have a subscription, and if you link to articles that I don't particularly want to read/skim, it uses one of my free articles for the month (I do not currently have a subscription). Thanks! Have a great weekend!

Dinner parties will not be on their way out at my house! I think they're wonderful, and I don't think they can't be enjoyed together with more informal gatherings.

Loved these, especially the Woody Allen video. I watched Manhattan earlier today, his movies are the best.

Lovely links as always. I especially loved that blueberry cake, but I have a question...is it only limited to breakfast? Because I might have to eat it 24/7.

And cool tape...I love it. One fun craft to do with kids is buy colorful duck tape & make purses or wallets.

Yesterday my husband of 6 years came home from a few days away for work. As he was walking down the street we were talking on the phone. He was waving at me under the glare of the streetlights and I was waving at him, backlit in the window. I love it when just the thought of seeing him gets me so excited!

Thanks for the nice links, I really loved the story of the 103-year-old grandma. What a great lady. I read the granddaughter's entries about her past bday parties and Grace (the grandma) just seems like such an amazing woman! Inspiring. x

the Woody Allen interview made me beam. he's such an interesting man. i've been dying to see that documentary for sometime now. i had to laugh when he mentions Rita Hayworth as his crush as 1) my boyfriend would have said the same thing and b) we just watched Mulholland Dr.

on the very important topic of baby animals - thanks for sharing the new Sharon Montrose prints! we're re-doing our bathroom and i wouldn't' mind a baby zebra greeting me in the morning one bit at all. coincidentally, my mom sent me an incredible snapshot she captured of a BABY OWL on our deck at home. seriously way too precious. check it out, if you're so inclined for baby animal cuteness. http://leanerbythelake.com/this-guy/

have a lovely weekend,

Thank you for posting about the COATT morse code jewelry, and creating the opportunity for the 20% discount.

My father passed away about a year ago and my family lives in different states. My two sisters, mother and I speak almost every day but we miss each other. I have been searching for the perfect necklace to give this Christmas to symbolize our love and togetherness. By wearing it I hope that we can always feel a bond no matter how many hours or days it's been since we last spoke.

Thank you!
