What are you up to this weekend? Alex's birthday is TODAY (whoot whoot!), so Toby and I took him out to a yummy breakfast, and late tonight we're driving to Maryland to visit our cousins. We're all crashing at their house, so I see some sleeping bags in our future! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, and here are a few great links from around the web...
A song for your weekend.
Art-inspired wedding cakes.
What a gorgeous nursery!!!
Sneak peek at Mad Men.
Survival dinner.
Holiday glitter.
Famous NYC apartments.
Are you smart enough for gifted kindergarten?
Beautiful print for charity.
No more snacking in Rome!
What pretty blue glasses.
How to blow up photos.
LOVE these children's clothes.
And I had an idea: If you'd like, post your photos of eating something new to my Facebook page and I'll feature a bunch on the blog next week. Would be fun to see everyone in action! Thank you so much, and have a great weekend! xoxo

Dude, welcome to Maryland...& be careful. Sandy is on her way, you know...ugh. xo
ReplyDeleteThat article about eating near monuments is really interesting. My husband and I went to Italy for our honeymoon last summer, and I'm sure I ate gelato near a monument (but it was in a cone, so there was no trash). How embarrassing would it be for a police officer to blow his or her whistle in your face and have no idea why?! If Rome really wants to solve this problem, they should install more benches and trash cans. Making things easy, visible, and available is the way to solve problems. Humiliating tourists is not.
ReplyDeleteCool links! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday and happy birthday to Alex. Mine is on the 28th. Yay to Scorpios. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend! Love your weekend posts, always exciting to see what you have in store for us to see!

that nursery makes me want to pop out a baby!!!
ReplyDeletehappy friday and happy birthday to your man!
xx, vanessa
Have a great weekend! Happy Birthday to Alex. FUN. I would have had the avocado toast and a skim latte if I headed to Joseph Leonard for breakfast! YUMMY. And enjoy spending time w/ cousins! Happy SLEEP BAGGING it!
ReplyDeleteI hope Maryland treats you ok - we're supposed to have some REALLY nasty weather on Sunday! I agree about that nursery making me want a baby!
ReplyDeleteI wish I reached out to you before our trip to the city to celebrate my husbands birthday last week. We ended up eating horrible food and couldn't find the quaint brownstone-type neighborhoods. Instead we bounced off people in soho, Time Square and Meat Packing district (although we took your advice and got there via the highline).
ReplyDeleteI want to bring our kids next time and find the right balance of neighborhood in the city - does that exist? Your breakfast link was inspiration enough.
Thanks,

Have a nice weekend too!:)

Be careful about coming to Maryland! Frankenstorm is coming! Google the "Capital Weather Gang" and check if you're staying in a safe area!
ReplyDeleteAnd if you come anyway and are near Baltimore, come to my medieval women's trio concert :D

Love your blog from Annapolis! Safe travels...

My current survival dinner is the Roasted Cauliflower Capellini from Sara Forte's cookbook, Sprouted Kitchen. When I'm particularly busy/lazy, I'll just throw some balsamic vinegar on some spinach capellini with whatever else is in the refrigerator. If you're tired of the cacio e pepe, you should try it!
ReplyDeleteThat kindergarten test is difficult!
ReplyDeleteHow many parents are wanting their children in a gifted kindergarten program? What does it change, necessarily? Especially since it is so tough! Clearly, it won't mean only less intelligent children will be with their child. Only the geniuses will be in the special program.

ReplyDeleteOne of the songs that make me love the Beatles so much. LOVE THE BEATLES!
ReplyDeleteMy younger kids love it when I read to them while they are having their baths. They seem to pay better attention and become more engaged than when we read "on land".
ReplyDeleteAlso, for teething, put a clean, damp washcloth in the freezer for 30 minutes. Babies and toddlers love the way is softly soothes the gums. cheap prom dresses
