In college, I house-sat for some family friends while they were on vacation. And they had a ridiculously comfortable bed—layered with silk sheets and a velvet duvet. It felt like sleeping in a pile of clouds. I'd kind of forgotten about it until I saw this new velvet bedding from Castle, and it took me right back.Have you ever slept in velvet? George would love it...
P.S. Secrets to a great bed and our bedroom makeover.

i LOVE that pillow! does anyone know where i can find it!?!
ReplyDeleteI just bought a silk pillowcase that I love. A great duvet is the best thing ever, too. I have never slept in velvet, but I bet it is super cozy in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI was just browsing their website and the "put the love in the coconut" is by them, too, in their pillowcase section. They also have some pretty polka dot pillowcases.
ReplyDeletehahaha this is too funny. I have slept in velvet before - it's amazing in cold weather. pottery barn makes a velvet/silk throw that's simply divine :)

I have a gray velvet duvet, but sometimes -- even in the dead of winter -- it can be too much. Especially with you have another person under the covers with you.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a velvet duvet cover. It was a magnet for little fuzz balls! It drove me nuts! While silk is very comfy, I almost find them too "slippery." For warmth, just give me my goose down duvet and I'm set!
ReplyDeleteIt is annoying that you only reply once, to a random comment of the very first.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of velvet! I am looking for a new quilt for my bed, and I want texture other than woven cotton. This would be so lovely and modern.
ReplyDeletehaha! I almost spit coffee out my nose watching the Sienfeld clip. Miss that show. Velvet is pretty yummy!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty! I checked out their site.. way too expensive for me!
ReplyDeleteThat clip you posted is like my all time favorite seinfeld quote. I just watched it about 10 times in a row. LOL
I had a red velvet comforter that I used in college and for a couple years after. It was my favorite...so luxurious. I got it at a garage sale for $2 (it was originally from Pottery Barn). And don't worry, I got it cleaned. Sadly I used it so much it began to tatter and I had to retire it.
ReplyDeleteI will always be on the lookout for a velvet comforter to replace my beloved garage sale find.

ReplyDeleteI bought one of their velvet pillows, and was totally disappointed with the quality. I spent WAY more than I usually would on it, but had been lusting after it from their beautifully styled photos for ages. It is not a true velvet, rather a cotton velveteen (the difference is in the length of the nap) and feels very cheap to touch. Such a shame, as their pictures are so so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I noticed this web site I went on reddit to share some of the love with them.
ReplyDeletePurchasing velvet bedding would be an obvious sign telling my man to sleep in the spare room - velvet gives him the heebie-jeebies!
ReplyDeleteVelvet bedding? Somehow so wrong, but so so right! x
ReplyDeleteVery well organized bed room. I was amazed with the combination of colors. Seems like those colors were just perfectly fit.
ReplyDeleteI just want to thank you for referring to Seinfeld, it never gets old!
ReplyDeleteI've had this dream of silk sheets and different luxurious bedding!Soft Surroundings has some nice things I've been eying for years.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of trying to make my own,as well.
Not with cats.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this about velvet bedding. You are so right about the feel of velvet-so luxurious! And velvet and satin together! Wow! What a wonderful way to finish off the day!
