What are you up to this weekend? I rarely go to dinner with a bunch of women (do you?), but this Sunday, we're having a girl's dinner at an Italian restaurant, and I'm really excited. Feels like college again! Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend, and here are a few fun links from around the web...What if every Olympic sport was photographed like beach volleyball?
Brilliant app for new moms.
What a flashback!
Pillow talk with your child.
Oooh, a Roald Dahl cookbook.
Flawless gymnastics.
Beaches from above. (Can you guess where they are?)
Beautiful advice.
Coney Island, back in the day.
What a gorgeous wedding dress.
Olympians, then and now.
Paint pen = smart idea.
Three posts you may have missed:
* Laughter yoga.
* Beer cravings.
* Are you too busy?

this weekend i'm enjoying live music in sandpoint, idaho, flying back to ohio to pack, and then going to the virgin islands for a week! there will be surely girl's dinners involved! :)
ReplyDeleteI tried on that wedding dress! It's so beautiful - the fabric was like nothing else I've seen. I ended up going with a different Reem Acra dress but plan to peer pressure all my girlfriends to try on that one when they get engaged!
ReplyDeleteoh, a girls dinner sounds kind of nice, i can't remember the last time i did that either. tonight we're trying a new sushi restaurant with friends on st john, i'm excited!!!
ReplyDeletehappy weekend!!!
ps i love that wedding dress ;)
I love dinner with girlfriends. I met a lovely group of women through yoga when I moved to Seattle.
ReplyDeleteI have an exciting weekend planned with my bf. We are driving to the Olympic Peninsula early tomorrow to hike and explore the tide pools on the Pacific coast. We're staying one night in a cute B&B with a jacuzzi tub in our room, I can't wait! I'll be referring back to your post on what to wear for this occasion...perhaps a lace cami and cute boyshorts:)
love the links at the bottom!

It's fun to go for "girl's only" movie outing, dinner, clubbing, night out ... i wish i had more such opportunities after marriage!
ReplyDeleteThe beach volleyball post was hilarious. Olympians, then & now, post is very good - they must be happy they're featured again after all these years (while most are forgotten).
Have a great weekend, you too!

ReplyDeleteSounds like you will have a fantastic weekend:) I read about this cookbook recently and I really want to get it now. Plus, Roald Dahl is so witty. Happy Friday Joanna:) xo
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the Roald Dahl cookbook. Have you ever seen/ used the book of Revolting Recipes?! It's a fabulous book of recipes of food from his books! I made "Stick Jaw for Talkative Parents" with my first graders and it was a hoot!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I go to dinner with a whole group of women all the time. I guess that's what being single tends to look like!
I do dinner with girlfriends very often and love it. Last nights dinner convo consisted of Brazilian waxing advice, relationship talks, and wedding planning. I love having space to talk about the silly, girly stuff in life.
ReplyDeleteI just had dinner with some girlfriends on Tuesday night and it was delightful! I can't say I do so often but when I do I always enjoy it and wonder why I don't.
ReplyDeleteHave a good time!

I love your Friday posts - they're the best!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of Chet Baker...love him!
more original content, please ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of the beaches! So cool.
ReplyDeleteBTW - you've inspired me to start my own little list of weekend links. It's fun to have a place to share all the random things I read during the week.
So many great links! The wedding dress is gorgeous. It would be great for a destination wedding. I've been loving the olympics; they're so inspirational! Have a great weekend and enjoy your girls night out!
ReplyDeleteCOOL beach photos! I want one on my wall!
ReplyDeleteThat paint pen is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteAll the links were great. Happy Weekend!
If that paint pen works, it is genius! I'm not totally convinced that it would, though, especially after being used once and then recapped. I like the idea for easy touch-ups without opening the whole can... but I don't buy "I forgot which can was which." There is an easy solution for that (which is done by most purveyors of paint....) The paint monger (I just made up that term) usually sticks his/her finger in the newly mixed can and then dabs it on a label on top of the can. The label also includes the name and number of the paint. Then, you always know what color is what. Some places they also give you another label with paint dab to take home and store so you have an even better record.
ReplyDeleteAhh, Toby in the beer garden. Cute! Clever comment, too. :-) I didn't read the comments to that post, but I do question the wisdom of taking a baby to a beer garden. I'm not a militant non-parent who expects no children anywhere, but I would expect a beer hall to be a no-children zone. I'm just thinking of the poor people subjected to his temper tantrum.
dinner with girlfriends is food for the soul! its so important (in my eyes at least) to have fun times away from husband and baby. It makes you a better wife and mother! enjoy your dinner! xo
ReplyDeleteFlying home from Paris...we've been here for 3 weeks and are very home sick but have loved every minute...well almost despite a little complaining of too many museums...oh well...Dinner with girls feeds the soul and I have missedyou girls these past 5 weeks away!
ReplyDeleteAu revoir and thanks for your blog it has fed my soul in many ways!!!
For my junior prom last spring, I had that wedding dress made for me by a friends, but in a mint green. We went to the store and I tried it on, and in the dressing room, we took a bunch of sneaky pictures and measurements! I don't think I'll ever love a dress as much as that one!
ReplyDelete-Kat Campagna
love the olympic photographs - and especially the discussion in the comments!
ReplyDeletestunning photos and really good blog! Plus for you.. Have a nice day, lady :)
ReplyDelete~lipoo
I love a good girls dinner but don't go that often anymore either. My hubby and I put a contract on a new condo at the beach this week so our inspection is this evening, tomorrow is our niece's 1st birthday party, and sunday we leave for our family vacation to nags head, nc. Can't wait for the weekend to start!!!
ReplyDeleteWow I really liked the olympian pictures. When I saw the swimmer I was curious to see their times. I could've won gold at the 1952 olympics for 100m swim. We've really come a long way since then.
ReplyDeleteJoanna, thank you so much for posting the link to the "Dream, believe, do". It's so encouraging to me. You know what else? I remind myself of the advice that you posted about a while ago also: "You can create the life that you want."
ReplyDeleteI love my career, but sometimes I feel bad about loving my life outside of work. You remind me that it's OK and important to love home.
Thank you for being you and thanks for posting about beautiful advice.
Just had a girls' night out last night...even got yelled at by my Mom for staying out too late. That was surreal...
ReplyDeleteAwesome weekend links as always. How good are the beach photos from above, they're so fun! I'd love one as a print in our house, but would love even more if I knew the beach;-)
ReplyDeleteI do a moms night out with friends once a month! It's fun and I really enjoy it!

ReplyDeleteEnjoy your dinner. Hope you have loads of girls fun.

oh, haha, anonymous, the beer hall is SO noisy, toby's crying (which lasted less than a minute) wasn't a problem at all. and funnily enough, it's SUPER family friendly. we would never take toby to a dive bar or swanky cocktail place, etc, but this beer garden is full of families eating sausages and fries during the day, and the parents share pitchers of beer, and the kids run around and it's super fun. just like in germany, i would imagine! it's in williamsburg, if anyone wants to check it out:)
ReplyDeleterach, that's so cool to hear about the dress! i actually went to reem acra when i was first engaged, but i didn't try anything on (they were over my budget and i didn't want to fall in love with anything:). but everything was sooooooo beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!! Oregon Trail!!!!! Second Grade!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJoanna, this is probably the best round-up yet.
ReplyDeleteHey Jo as always another great and entertaining weekend post. I ran across something very funny. And because I believe we have similar sense of humor I am sending along to you..Go to youtube and find Emmanuel and Phillip Hudson, stanky breath girls, sorry do not have the url
ReplyDeleteLove the links - thanks so much!
ReplyDeletegorgeous dress. I love the romantic cap sleeves. That note app is fun too, but I'd say its a no-no for thank you notes. Its such a cute idea for a quick note, a "nice to see you", or a casual, "thanks for coming over" note. But, if you receive a real gift, the right thing to do is to write a note by hand. I've had children, I understand the sleep-deprivation and emotional and physical exhaustion, but really its not that difficult to write a quick thank you note. Failing to write thank you notes really irks me. Its really just rude, plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteI was excited to see the link to Olympians then and now. But I was sad that the author only included the '48 Olympics. I realize that he was sharing the last London Games...but it would have been fun to see a picture of my father in law who won a silver in the '52 games in swimming. He and the Gold medal winner have been friends ever since
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful that you are going out with a bunch of girlfriends! I am the only married woman and mother amongst a group of girls that I get together with 2 or 3 times a year. Some of these women I've known my whole life. I often reflect on our diverse group, some are single, some are gay, some are in and out of relationships and I am the only one who has remained in a constant partnership and with children. My girls adore these girls, they are like surrogate aunties to them. And they refer to them as aunties too. Enjoy ours your night out!
ReplyDeleteThat app is genius! Wish I would have had that a year ago when I had my son :) and a Roald Dahl Cookbook....amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteThe beach pictures are very cool!

I am graduating from OSU this weekend! Whoo hoo!
ReplyDeleteRed Stamp is a genius app for EVERYONE, not juts new moms! I love it. It's so wonderful to be able to instantly deliver a beautifully designed customized card to someone's phone with just a couple of clicks. Just Friday I sent one to a co-worker who is undergoing a ton of drama while trying to sell their house and build a new one. She thanked me right away and then later in the day sent me another message thanking me again and telling me she'll be looking at it contantly for a pick-me-up until everything gets resolved. I told her the next one I send her will be congratulations on selling the house!
ReplyDeleteresting&cooking :)
ReplyDeleteI love that photo.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, dinner out with your best gal pals...that is one of the sweet joys of life. Hope you are having a great weekend! As a general rule,Louis Vuitton consumers who pick up the telephone to dial 1800 numbers likely realize that they are calling a corporation and not an individual household or small business.
