If you come over to our apartment, you might notice me wince if you ask where the bathroom is. Our bathroom has always been an eyesore. The tile is chipping, nothing matches, and the walls are a drab white. We want to fix it up, but since we'd like to move to Brooklyn next spring, we don't want to do anything too major. So, we've decided to give it a quick makeover with...a coat of paint!Valspar Paint was sweet enough to offer the paint (thank you, Valspar!), so now the question is: Which color should we choose? Valspar offers a "Love Your Color" Guarantee, where if you don't love the first paint color you choose, they'll let you pick out a second color for free, so we feel emboldened when it comes to picking richer colors. I'm usually pretty bad at picking out paint (it's so hard to envision on the walls!), but here are our three favorites, inspired by the rooms above...
Do you like any of these? Or would you pick a totally different color? Please weigh in below...we'll share the before-and-after photos next week. (You'll die when you see the before:)P.S. My inspiration board.

blue mist if you would like your bathroom looking a bit larger than it is.

BLUE MIST
ReplyDeleteBallard blue, definitely! It's a rich color without going too overboard. It's just lovely!
ReplyDeleteI have something similar to the Blue Mist in our bathroom. It's nice, and smoothing, but I do wish it were a little darker sometimes so I'm going to go with the Ballad Blue!
ReplyDeleteblue mist. and then add pops of bright to it. but the dark colors will make it feel small and stressful!
ReplyDeleteplus, those dark blues and greens will make your skin look weird in the mirror! booo.
ReplyDeletei love all of these! however, if your bathroom is really small or doesn't have a lot of natural light, i would go with the blue mist. otherwise, i like the navy which is classic but the alpine is unexpected.
ReplyDeletehttp://lachapstickfanatique.blogspot.com
I know this isn't your boldest option, but I like the blue mist. It is subtle and you can have color pops with a few accessories.
ReplyDeleteThe bathroom at my old house was like the Ballard Blue with white trim and accents. I loved it. The color scheme was very calming and reminded me of the Mediterranean.
ReplyDeleteI always think blue bathrooms are so refreshing...reminds me of water and nautical themes! I am a fan of the ballard blue!
ReplyDeleteI like the blue mist... and then the other colors would be great accent colors. Although I always like a pop of orange with blues. :)
ReplyDeleteI like all of them but would probably go for Blue Mist for a calm feel with a bit of Ballard Blue thrown in (trims/door?)
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue! (but if your bathroom is windowless and small I would go with Blue Mist!)
ReplyDeleteI feel like the darker colors would lend themselves to showing off errant flecks of toothpaste or water marks.
ReplyDeleteblue mist AND ballard blue. great combo.
ReplyDeleteBlue mist, but only because the dark blue affect how your skin looks in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteAlpine top! You can't go wrong with those jewel tones, unique color and the perfect shade. I painted my sunroom this same color, and it is perfect for small spaces.
ReplyDeleteI like the two blues striped. :)
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for the Alpine top. Love it!
ReplyDeleteDo you do your makeup in the bathroom? If so, blue mist. Otherwise, go bold! Alpine top for sure.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't choose a dark color unless your bathroom has a lot of light. The people in my apartment before me made some really poor paint choices and we didn't have the ability to correct them all. The dark blue bathroom feels really dark. I would have chosen a much brighter color.
ReplyDeleteBlue Mist. I'm gonna guess you have a pretty tiny bathroom since you're living in a NYC apartment ;) Blue Mist will keep the room feeling lighter and larger. Of course, you could always go for a look like th the second picture, adding a chair rail and painting the bottom white and the top Ballard Blue. Decisions, decisions. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm the worst at picking out paint. In fact, every single wall in our house is white and i just added a fresh coat of white in the baby's room (I know I'm so boring) but I stick to white mainly because we have a small cottage and I'm worried the darker colors will make it look smaller. So I would suggest Blue Mist for you :)
ReplyDeleteMy vote goes to blue mist. And don't forget the cute sailboat painting :)
ReplyDeletei like blue mist
ReplyDeleteBlue mist is my favorite. XO
ReplyDeleteAlpine Top! I love this shade. It adds warmth and its easy to add so many different colors of accents to the mix... Im sure you will get a lot of compliments on your bathroom with this color... and no more wince from you...lol
ReplyDeleteBlue Mist! It's such a dreamy and cozy colour!
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue gets my vote. I love before/afters so I can't wait to see!
ReplyDeleteThe "Ballard Blue" is very close to the color we used in our bathroom - it is lovely! Our bathroom has white fixtures and a skylight, so the darker color isn't too overwhelming even though it's on all of the walls.
ReplyDeletesponsored post, gross!
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue for sure! Stunning. Can't wait to see photos! Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteballard blue!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Alpine Top in some of the walls. A few of them might remain white, though. That's the way a friend of mine painted her bathroom and by experience I can say it's lovely and refreshing. BTW, the bathroom in question is at The Netherlands... so europeanly chic.
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue! I love a bold bold color in the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteA second option is a light lavender (with plenty of grey undertones). It sounds weird but I've tried it in several different and it always looks both crisp and welcoming.
Blue mist! It looks so calming and serene... everything you'd want in a bathroom experience.
ReplyDeleteI like Ballard Blue!!!!
ReplyDeleteAhh depends on room soze and how much light you get in there. The darker the colour the smaller and more enclosed a space it will seem. I'm definitely a fan of light and airy bathrooms, pale, milky colours. For some reason it reminds me of being by the sea on holiday!
ReplyDeleteI think whatever you choose will work great for your family. If it is a smaller bathroom I would go with blue mist to make the area feel light and arie if you are working with a larger bath I would go with the alpine top, more of a warm feel.
ReplyDeleteI love a white bathroom, so Blue Mist would be my choice. It will keep it looking bright and airy feeling. Use a bold color/patterned shower curtain as an accent piece, Anthropologie always has great ones.
ReplyDeleteVanilla, like your personality
ReplyDeleteI love the Blue Mist (as long as it has a touch more gray in it versus looking too baby blue).
ReplyDeleteI really like the green. A rich jewel tone for a small room seems like a nice idea to me - like making it a tiny jewel box.
ReplyDeletePainting it a typical light blue colour seems almost as boring as white to me, but when again, I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with that. And the dark blue seems maybe a bit too dark and constricting.
Blue mist with that ruffly shower curtain you pinned.
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue. It seems so relaxing - like being near the ocean!
ReplyDeleteNautical navy from your pinterest! or off Broadway!
ReplyDeleteI like the blue-hues.
i like the ballard blue!
ReplyDeleteBlue Mist!
ReplyDeleteI like the green but prefer the ballard blue for the bathroom, you could have aspects as accents of blue mist as well! That's what I would do :)
ReplyDeleteWhich of the three colours do you feel most comfortable wearing on a daily basis?
ReplyDeleteAs an interior designer that's my advice to you. It's your space, you're the one living in it. You need to feel comfortable in there. Bathrooms are a vulnerable room in the home, it's where you see yourself for the first time every day and for the last time every day. You want to look your best!
Either blue mist or alpine top! I love light light blues or greens in bathrooms!
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue!
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue only if you have white subway tiles up your walls. Too much will fell small. If not, then I say Blue Mist.
ReplyDeleteThose are all great colors, but to me gray in a bathroom is so classic looking!
ReplyDeleteI always like a blue bathroom so I would go with ballard blue, so long as there is natural light.
ReplyDeleteI looove the Alpine Top! Deep, rich colors like that are always so stunning in a bathroom.
ReplyDeleteballard blue.
ReplyDeletewe painted a bathroom english channel (a similar color) and love it.
I have a small vintage-y bathroom and I painted the walls Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams. I see Valspar has one that looks identical--Sea Salt Blue CI191. I absolutely love the color--it has a bit of grey in it. It's very clean & calming with the white-painted molding, and it reflects the light quite nicely. I am a bath person, so I really get to enjoy the color as I soak & relax!
ReplyDeleteThe Ballard Blue, because it's a beautiful color.
ReplyDeleteballard blue!!!!
ReplyDeletelove the blue mist! i'm a huge fan of crisp, airy bathrooms and plush, white towels.
ReplyDeletei saw the greatest idea the other day: my friend's new bathroom is an odd shape and white with white cabinets and white tile....but instead of totally overhauling it, she did a thick red stripe around the middle. it's still crisp, but with an edge!
Love the ballard blue!
ReplyDeletei'm a blue mist kinda gal for the bathroom. classic, light, serene.
ReplyDeletei'm currently in love with martha stewart's sea glass.
ReplyDeleteout of your 3 lovely colors...the blue mist..it'll go great with whits, or yellows or red or....see what i am saying!!
well, according to your inspiration board, you should go with the white or blue option.
ReplyDeletei would select a gray one, but i like equally white and blue!
ballard blue for sure
ReplyDeleteI vote for Blue Mist. It won't shrink the room.
ReplyDeleteI love the ballard blue, go big or go home!
ReplyDeleteBallard blue but I think you need to break it up with some nice artwork in a white frame.
ReplyDeletetoo me the lighter blue is too close to white that it might look dingy
Absolutely Blue Mist!
ReplyDeleteBlue mist if the bathroom is small. If it isn't Ballard Blue. Can't wait to see the before and after photos!
ReplyDeleteAlso, check out my pinterest DIY board for a great pin about painting tile. Maybe this would help your bathroom as well? We rent our place so we'd have to ask before doing something like that, but it would be a great alternative to replacing the tile.
I vote for the ballard blue, it is a richer color and so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue is my first pick, Alpine Top is my second
ReplyDeleteMy experience with a green bathroom is that it makes you look green when you are trying to put on makeup, or just get ready for the day. It isn't so great for self-esteem :) Maybe just one wall of green and the rest ballard blue?
ReplyDeleteOh I love to give advice on paint! From these choices I would go with the Ballard Blue, but my vote would actually be to go a little more gray with it. I find that in a small space the color actually refects off itself on opposite walls and gets too intense so going a little more subtle can still feel bold.
ReplyDeleteI don'know Valspar as well as Benjamin Moore but from quickly looking at their site Prussian Cadet would be a nice choice.
Good luck! xox Lilly
ballard blue and/or blue mist depending on the size and amount of natural light. the green might make your skin look weird in the mirror...
ReplyDeleteI like blue mist. It's clean, soothing and refreshing. I've always felt that it is hard to unwind after a long day in a dark painted room especially in a bedroom or bathroom. It would keep me on edge or give me a headache! So my vote goes to blue mist. And then you can really have fun with the decor! Can't wait to see your after photos!!
ReplyDeleteXx
Love the alpine top! It looks so pretty!
ReplyDeleteGo with one of the blues. Especially with all of the nautical themed stuff on your inspiration board. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBlue Mist!
ReplyDeleteThe green will make you discoloured in the mirror - awful for putting on makeup. Believe me, I know from experience - learn from my mistake! :) :) :)
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous colours they have! I have, at this moment, a huge weakness for dusty watery greenish-blues, so I would be very tempted by colours like High Noon, Aquatic Edge, Seasalt Blue.
ReplyDeleteOh, I wish we could get this paint in the Netherlands!
if you don't have a window in your bathroom (and i assume you don't because you live in manhattan) i'd go with a light color. don't get me wrong - i love a good dark, and our master bath is dark, but we also have a lot of sunlight coming through to offset it.
ReplyDeletea peek of chic
Based on the first photo, I like Blue Mist! Can't wait to see the before and afters!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of Ballard Blue!!
ReplyDeleteI like Ballard Blue - but my biggest suggestion is to pick a couple shades you are thinking of, get samples, and try them in the actual wall space. Yep, just paint like 3 or 4 swatches and look at the colors in different lights of the day. And you must actually paint the samples on the wall for the full effect and not just hold up the color wheel samples. Then you will be less likely to pick a color that doesn't work! Try it!
ReplyDeleteI love all the colors, but I think I would go with Blue Mist. It's fresh and relaxing, and would look really crisp with white. The other two might make your bathroom feel like a cavern (not what you want your bathroom to become).
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue :)
ReplyDeletePick Alpine Top if you have a small bathroom, Jo!
ReplyDeletexoxo
I love a dark saturated colour in the bathroom. I painted my bathroom a dark red/pink called Merlot. I love it! So much better than white!
ReplyDeleteIf you can't live with dark colours in the rest of your apartment (like me), then the bathroom is a great place to experiment with it... it's a small space & you're generally not in there for a long time, so the dark colour is easier to handle. Plus it adds to the moody atmosphere of a candle-lit bath.
I love a black or dark charcoal grey bathroom with white towels and shower curtains.
ReplyDeleteBlue Mist would be lovely!
ReplyDeleteNot sure how big your bathroom is but if you have room, I once saw a bathroom that had about a dozen or so framed photos and drawings hanging in it and it looked MARVELOUS!
Go for the ballard blue!!! It should look nice with white tiles.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with thw makeover!!!!
Laura
I love dark colors in smaller rooms, makes them feel grander, I think. And I love blue in bathrooms, and Ballard Blue feels like Lake Michigan to me, so that's my pick!
ReplyDeleteblue mist!
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue! Love it. It looks just like the color we painted my son's bedroom. I want to paint the whole house that color now!
ReplyDeleteGo with Blue Mist! I'd worry the Ballard Blue wouldn't be dark/rich enough for the look you're trying to achieve.
ReplyDeleteI think the blue mist will make your bathroom look spa-like if you put simple, white matted and framed photos on the wall, and it should make it seem open and airy.
ReplyDeleteIf you were to go darker, I'd go with a deeper blue like the one shown in the photo with the white tile for that luxurious effect. Just my opinion. :)
Can't wait to see the before and after!
The ballard blue!
ReplyDeleteBallard blue although I LOVE the Off Broadway on your inspiration board!
ReplyDeleteI love the Alpine Top!
ReplyDeleteI like the Blue Mist. Maybe it's a little predictable, but I like the clean & crisp feel. Although my bathroom right now is a slightly lighter shade of the Alpine Top, and it's really nice! It's sort of like a Tiffany's blue but a littler greener, you know what I mean? Either I think would work :)
ReplyDeleteblue mist. blue mist. blue mist. It's refreshing, bright and lovely. And it's nuetral -- keeping your move in mind.
ReplyDeleteblue mist!
ReplyDeletei like the alpine top, BUT i think your bathroom, with the blue accents, is kinda screaming for a nice muted yellow, kind of like Ballet Bar (http://www.valsparpaint.com/en/explore-colors/color-selector/index.html?ref=colorselector_homepage_menu2#1).
ReplyDelete.. just a different idea!
Oooo I love small, cozy dark bathrooms. I vote ballard blue!
ReplyDeleteWhich color complements your coloring the best? I would pick that color. (it will flatter you when you are getting ready and looking in the mirror!)
ReplyDeleteI love the Navy! From my experience, light colors do not actually make a room look larger. I love painting small bathrooms a dark color! Really gives them a "precious" jewel box feel.
ReplyDeleteAfter I painted my bathroom a pale seafoam green, my mother commented that green is not flattering when it reflects on your skim, so she doesn't think its a good bathroom color. Oh, mothers. Its never bothered me, but just something to think about! I like the Blue Mist.
ReplyDeleteBlue Mist! It looks so calming!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Ballard Blue!
ReplyDeleteMy bathroom is almost identical to the Ballard Blue, with white wainscoting half way up the walls. It's calming and and feels a little nautical without being "theme-ish".
ReplyDeleteI love the Ballard Blue. I think I may try to convince my blue hating husband to let that be our dining room wall color. Pray for me.
ReplyDeleteMaria
blue mist!
ReplyDeleteBlue mist. It pairs well with linen (and I think blue oxford shirt and pale sky...) which seems fitting for a dressing/bathing room. It's classic, light, refreshing. Accent color options abound!
ReplyDeletei love the blues, and i also love light colors in the bathroom. when you go in there in the morning it helps you wake up since it's nice and bright (i think anyways). honestly though, if you have second choice backup from valspar i'd go with the darker blue because if you don't like it you can always switch to the lighter blue which is a safer bet.
ReplyDeletealso, i would stay away from the green JUST BECAUSE you are fair and green's complimentary color is red. so if you want to avoid looking extra pink in the winter stay away from green which will bring it out in your skin.
Depends on lighting. If you have a window, the ballard blue. No window- the blue mist.
ReplyDeleteMy first choice was Ballard Blue, but since this is a quick fix to sell the home, I say Blue Mist. If the new owners like it, great! But if they don't, they can easily cover it up.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Blue Mist or good old fashion white. Always brightens the room.
ReplyDeleteBlue Mist! I love soft colors for bathrooms, I'm a fan of butter yellow myself!
ReplyDeleteBallard blue all the way :) I have such a love for deep, moody bathrooms. So cool!
ReplyDeleteBlue mist! It's a nice soft and pleasing color.
ReplyDeleteblue mist! my guest room is that color and it's my favorite room in the house, it's so calming!
ReplyDeleteAll great colors...pick one that you and your husband look GOOD in, as you will be waking up and going to look at yourself in the mirror there.
ReplyDelete-Martita
They always say you should never paint a bathroom yellow or green since it can alter your complexion, and that's not good for applying make up.
ReplyDeleteI love BLUE MIST. It will be more blue that you think!
Blue mist - it will make it feel more spacious.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!
alpine top is such a lovely color! I would never have thought of that shade of green, but it is so great.
ReplyDeletewhat color is the tile?
ReplyDeleteA lot of people say a dark color in a bathroom will make it feel SMALL. However, recently I fell in LOVE with a bathroom that is painted a color similar to Ballard Blue (maybe even darker). It makes the white porcelain look bright and sparkly and the room feel warm and cozy (in a "i could live in here" not a "claustrophobic" way). They hug a LARGE mirror which helped open the room and small green plants. ::sigh:: just thinking of it makes me wish I wasn't a renter. Ballard blue is my pick!!
ReplyDeleteI feel the blues are predictable while the 'Alpine Top' green is still relaxing and a coming-from-nature color that would be great in a bathroom.
ReplyDeleteThough I do like that second bathroom picture. Maybe if you have tile on the walls (one house I lived in did) then do the blue at the top. But for the entire wall I stick with green.
Good luck choosing!
I would normally say the Alpine, but I really dig the Ballard Blue! Very relaxing.
ReplyDeleteBallard blue! I love that color and it will feel so fresh and clean!
ReplyDeleteI love love love the second photo. I like how the white brings light to the room and the dark colour makes it so sophistcated without making it too dark.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite colours for a bathroom are cream and nudey pink. But I think most guys would hate it.
I assume it's a small space (NY apt), so I would go with the light blue.A dark color in a small space can make it look smaller. And I think the pale blue is cheery!
ReplyDeleteBe careful with green in a bathroom. I painted my bathroom green once and the reflected light always made me look ill. Green is my fave color, but I'd stick with blue must for the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteI'd go with pale blue or dark blue if you can have lots of white accents - white door, trim, floor, tile, etc. It will be very crisp if you can have some white in there. Stay away from green in bathrooms, it gives you skin a very unhealthy "glow".
ReplyDeleteValspar paint is a pretty low-end paint and really hit or miss in terms of quality. I painted my bathroom Valspar Ocean Dream (a medium tone blue with a touch of gray) and love the color. BUT the paint chips easily (on a brand new primed wall) and even though it's satin it's not easily washed.
ReplyDeleteIf someone falls in love with a Valspar color, they are better off having it color matched by a higher-end brand. But, if you can get the paint for free, why not use it.
Blue Mist.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of re-sale value picking something that is pretty but also close to neutral is appealing to a future apartment-buyer. Also the navy accessories will really pop against it!
Also, make sure that you choose a semi-gloss finish which handles moisture well.
Somewhere I remember reading that it´s feminine "trick" to paint your bathroom walls in a peachy-fleshy hue that looks good against you pale skin. So when you look yourself in the mirror without makeup and fresh out of the shower, the light would reflect on a becoming hue. "Cold" colors can give you a ghoulish glare. It´s silly but it´s so nice to look good while doing your makeup or simply brushing your teeth!
ReplyDeleteTest colors against your skin! And also beware of too bright withish ligthing.
The alpine top if you have black and white tile. It will look chic with a brand new white shower curtain (get a fabric cover to go over the plastic liner) and some black and white prints for the walls. You could do the same with Ballard Blue but the Alpine would be a bit more funky. You could try to find a funky bath mat.
ReplyDeleteBlue Mist, it looks so spa like.
ReplyDeleteBlue mist! It'll make your washroom look larger and so inviting :)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen such a green bathroom - GO FOR IT! :) big risk, big payoff is my house decorating motto
ReplyDeleteGo with the blue. That's what we chose for our bathroom renovation last year and we LOVE it! It looks so modern, clean and fresh. Just like pic number 2.
ReplyDeleteI think I like the blue mist best. But if you're aiming for something more dramatic, then I'd go with the ballard blue. It's bold, and I like the contrast of dark color with the white tile.
ReplyDeleteBallard blue! The Alpine looks like it would be hard to match with other colours, and the Mist is too safe (but a great replacement paint if you don't like the intensity of the Ballard! :)
ReplyDeleteblue mist if it's a small room, alpine top if not. can't wait to see the update! x
ReplyDeleteblue mist! or paint the bathroom stripes, in ballard blue and white.
ReplyDeleteAs a professional lighting designer, I'd recommend going for a compeltely different palette- something warmer - in the amber/peach family. The light reflecting off of warm colors will look best on your skin tone while you're doing makeup and getting ready in the mirror. Blues and greens might make you feel a little "sick" or "cold" looking. Just something to think about - I don't want to throw off your whole scheme!
ReplyDeleteBenjamin Moore has a Spa line - for super matte bathroom paints, we painted ours white, but it looks so sophisticated in matte finish. I think semi-gloss makes any color look cheesy. If you want drama - go all the way for high gloss. And I don't know anything about this brand, but I say go as expensive as you can for such a small space - even the most premium paints will be around $60 for a small bathroom.
ReplyDeleteI like the color of Alpine Top.. but I would like it a softer shade.. more like the blue mist.. how about alpine top mist?.. I also looked at your board and the picture with all the bird pics has a dove grey wall.. and I kind of like that soft grey too.. looks soothing. which you do want in a bathroom:)
ReplyDeleteI'd say go for Blue Mist, or something in between that and Ballard Blue. I've seen some great bathrooms with a darker colour, but personally prefer a light space. Unless your bathroom is very spacious, it might feel oppressive to paint it either of the other colours ;)
ReplyDeletei would usually say light blue but the green is great because its the type of green that gives you the motivation to take on your day. and we all know when we get up if anything we go to strait to the bathroom, its a fresh motivating feeling.
ReplyDeleteI painted my bathroom Benjamin Moore light blue (yes, that is truly the boring name) with the finish made specifically for bathrooms, and it is my all time favorite wall color. So much so that I plan to paint another room the exact same color. So, I vote for finding a Valspar color match for the BM color. Just not the green! Remember, the wall color in the bathroom should flatter your skin if you put your make up on in there. And there isn't lighting in the world that will work with green that won't make you look sea sick! Can't wait for photos!
ReplyDeleteballard blue! love it. Your pins have inspired me to a little nautical bathroom refresher as well!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the pinspiration!
How funny! I did a similar post yesterday as I am painting my bathroom too! I love the 2nd photo of the darker blue. My office is that color and I get huge compliments on it! If you have enough light, I love the contrast of a dark color with white tile and accents. Dark is bold! :) can't wait to see the before/after!
ReplyDeleteWe have a very similar bathroom to the dark blue image from your inspiration board. And while it does look pretty, drives me nuts because it always looks dirty! Not sure what happens in our bathroom, but between my son and my son it is always splattered with something. So. I guess I would recommend a less saturated color for a bathroom. And how exciting about the upcoming move! Hope you get more space.
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue! :)
ReplyDeleteI meant son and husband! Not son and son:)
ReplyDeletebased on your mood board, go for blue mist!
ReplyDeleteGo Bold! I totally used Pinterest for my bathroom inspiration. I ended up doing a bright turquoise because it reminded me of surfing. I say - the bathroom is one cool place you can do an outrageous color - it makes such a difference and is fun for the guests.
ReplyDeletemist - the others are to color- and powerful for a bathroom in my sense -
ReplyDeleteI have always loved Blue Mist with white trim and accents. It looks so clean and bright.
ReplyDeleteLove the ballard blue and the blue mist! Perfection!
ReplyDeleteI love Ballard Blue, but since bathrooms tend to get less natural light, bold colors can make the room seem much darker, smaller, and gloomier. I think the mist color will make the bathroom seem clean, bright, bigger, and very proper.
ReplyDeleteblue mist. Both my bathrooms are some variation of it, and I have never sickened of it (after ten years). Tried the green because it is pretty, but doesn't translate well onto small spaces. My two cents.
ReplyDeleteI see a lot of people suggest you go for the Blue Mist and you will love it during this summer and maybe fall, but from winter on you will find it boring, it just fades away with time (psychologically). But if you are moving in spring, that is a problem for the new owners. I would personally choose Ballard Blue with a sunny yellow like Valsparpaint Pumpkin Butter or Alpine Top with crisp white. Or based on your moodboard, you can go with Off Broadway and light beige/white. Good luck !
ReplyDeleteMy bathroom (it's separate from the toilet and just has a bath and sink) is the lighter colour on the left. It is so bright and fresh, I really love it. Our spare room ( which is a tiny box) is close to the Ballard Blue and, surprisingly, it doesn't make the room feel small.
ReplyDeleteYou'll never regret the light one, but the dark is definitely a bolder choice and if you're moving in a year, you should take the risk now so you know for later
Blue Mist! Looks so cool and calm.
ReplyDeletelove all of these - but I really love the GREEN! so unique

how ironic that valspar knew your bathroom needed painted!!! XOXOXO!
ReplyDeleteyou guys, she isn't painting her freaking bathroom.
blue mist-
ReplyDeletewe have a similar color for our eyesore of a bathroom & it's amazing how much it hides imperfections and feels clean, light & airy.
Ballard Blue, for sure.
ReplyDeleteblue mist for sure
ReplyDeleteBlue mist walls combined with dark blue towels and a shower curtain with bold horizontal darkblue stripes. Fresh, modern and nautical.
ReplyDeleteI seem to be in the minority here, but I like the Alpine Top. Green has the amazing power to feel neutral without being boring and with that shade you can get some interesting contrast in with pops of white or a complementary shade. It's also sophisticated at the same time which is perfect for when it doubles as a powder room for guests.
ReplyDeleteI like the Blue Mist, but that's the hard part about viewing colors on monitors - it might get a little too "baby room blue". I think it's also not as much of a change from your white - but if you aren't looking for anything too much different the Blue Mist would be nice!
Good luck and have fun! After all, it's just paint :)
Ballard Blue would be my choice. I think it has the most depth and lots of visual interest.
ReplyDeleteBlue mist! With new towels, always new towels ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love the green! maybe if you just do one wall green and the other walls blue mist it won't seem too dark?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the before and after!
http://livealittlesunshine.blogspot.com/
we just redid our bathroom with yarmouth blue (benjamin moore), but i had been imagining something closer to blue mist.
ReplyDeleteBlue mist for sure!
ReplyDeleteI'd go with the light blue shade. But the nice thing about a bathroom is it's small so a bold color is easier to live with -- not as overpowering as it would be in a larger room. You really need to trust your gut! ☺
ReplyDeleteI would choose Blue Mist. Once it is on each wall and not next to the other two color examples, it will seem a bit darker. Blue is soothing, too. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI suggest going with Blue Mist. Darker colors, while gorgeous, can easily make a small(ish) room feel rather claustrophobic.

There is something so funky about the alpine green! I'm thinking back to how you have a pink wall in your apartment (right?) and how fabulous that green would be with it!
ReplyDeleteballard blue! I also like blue mist, but theres something about that ballard blue that puts me at ease.
ReplyDeleteI like ballard blue. I know it's not often suggested, but I'm a fan of dark, rich colors in small spaces. A friend of mine once painted her bathroom walls black! Sounds strange and depressing, but with so many white accents in the room it actually looked gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBallard Blue. Goodluck.
ReplyDeleteI like ballard blue the best but they're all good choices. The lighter blue is pretty but maybe too light. I hope you share when you're done!
ReplyDeleteI love the white bathroom at the top, but think that a mix of white and blue would look prettiest :) Good luck! I'm sure it will look lovely!

ReplyDeletei would personally go with blue mist but if you want something a little more bold than go with the ballard blue... not a fan of the green. GOOD LUCK!
