What are your plans for this weekend? My friends Jason, Patrisha and I went to see the Paris Opera Ballet perform "Giselle" on Wednesday—it's their first time dancing in New York in sixteen years. It was absolutely breathtaking, and we were totally moony over the principal dancer, Dorothee Gilbert. Also, the Bachelorette finale is this weekend! Who are you rooting for? (I love Jef.) Hope you have a good one, and here are a few fun links from around the web... A song for your weekend.
What a photo.
Shark bite cupcakes.
A bike-in theatre? Yes!
Perfect, perfect jeans.
A rainbow school.
Copenhagen is getting a bike highway!!!
Sandwiches made even better.
Whoa, this dress would be stunning for a wedding. (It comes in black, too.)
Rad alternative to the Army Guy toy. (Via Leigh)
New Yorker towels.
Finally, on a more serious note, our hearts go out to all the victims and families involved in the Colorado tragedy. xo

That bike highway sounds amazing and they have bicycle buses for children- where an adult or two bike around picking up children who also bike with them, and bike them safely to school. What better idea is there to keep kids i shape and safe.Must be a privillege having flat ground to build the roads on. I live in norway and I bicycle everywhere, but the roads here are definitly not made for having both cars and bikes.
ReplyDeletegreat links as always! thnks

Team Jef all the way!!! And oh my, I'm such a ballet freak, I would give anything to have seen this- I'm sure it was breathtaking!! Happy weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteI'm really surprised that no where on the blogosphere did anyone mention anything about what happened in Colorado. I'm so surprised. I'm sure they would appreciate all the support the rest of America could give now. I love your blog and visiting others' blogs but to make no mention of such a tragedy at all... When you would touch base on post-partum depression and women who can't have it all, I'm not sure I understand how no one can cover this American tragedy. It's not even a political or patriotic thing. It's a human instinct to support each other. I don't mean to take it out on your blog, just, this must be the fourth or fifth blog I've read today and yesterday and I still can't believe no one would cover what is happening there. I'm so disappointed.
ReplyDeleteBallet how fun!! I have always wanted to see a show in real life!!
ReplyDeleteYou went from ballet to Bachelorette in one sentence?
ReplyDeletehaha, karan, yes. :)
ReplyDeleteanonymous, i hear you -- it's always tricky when awful things happen to try to figure out how to cover it. i've talked a lot with alex and friends about the colorado tragedy this weekend. in general, i usually try to keep my blog separate from news events, since i don't generally cover current events and also i try to make my blog an uplifting place to escape from the daily grind; but i'm going to add a line here now about the colorado tragedy, since i agree with you, it's really important to address. thank you so much, xoxo joanna
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Joanna, I was just really surprised. I read so many blogs (so many, it's embarassing) and after hearing nothing yesterday and yours was the fourth or fifth one today, as I said, just so surprised to hear nothing. I don't even live there and I still felt something should be addressed or else it's as if this didn't affect anyone! I do love your blog and you are right, it is an uplifting space and your Friday posts are my favorite. Thank you for the address and thanks for what you do.
ReplyDeletejoanna, I love your blog and you are such a quiet, smart voice in all the hubbub. thank you.
ReplyDeletegreat picture
