Just thought I'd share a few family photos. First up...
Toby's all-time favorite birthday
present from his sweet babysitter.

Alex, our brother-in-law and our friend picking up the balloons for my mom's sixtieth birthday party.

A picnic in the grass.

A temporary police tattoo! (And, omg, those chubby legs:)

Brushing teeth. (Alex has never had a cavity. I've had like thirty.)

Skateboarding by the river.

Telling jokes.

Smelling flowers.

Walking around, hailing invisible cabs.

Eating an enormous popsicle.

Running naked around Central Park.
How is your spring going? There's only a week and a half left! :) Hope you're having a good one.
P.S. The
outtakes. :)
What wonderful photos! Makes me want to visit NYC!
ReplyDeleteAhh Dylan has the same little blue Saucony sneakers and I die for them! They make me feel like he's a crush worthy 12 year old.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun age - enjoy it!

Oh my goodness! These photos are absolutely darling! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your family with us! These pictures make me so happy that it's summer! (And, it makes me want a baby...)
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh-i love your family! and shouldn't 'running naked around Central Park' be on everyone's bucket list!?
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool Dad Alex is! Save those skateboarding photos for when Toby is older to prove he has a rad Dad ;)
ReplyDeleteI laughed at your cavity comment - we're exactly the same, I seem to have a new one every time I go to the dentist, he never has any. So unfair!
ReplyDeleteMy fiance has also never gotten a cavity, and I have them nearly every time I go to the dentist. It's just not fair!
ReplyDeleteP.S. - Those balloons are intense!
Toby hailing the imaginary taxi just kills me! What a super cute New Yorker!
ReplyDeleteso much fun!
ReplyDeleteToby sniffing the flowers - those eyes!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are so awesome.
ReplyDeleteI really love the one of Toby in his own car and the one where he is hailing the imaginary cab! He is a super cool little NYer dude!

ReplyDeletewould you mind telling me where you bought those balloons? they're awesome!
ReplyDeletethank goodness. i needed that. the tobster always makes my day. happy to see everyones faces.
ReplyDeletesarah, haha, i know. sneakers on little boys are one of the cutest things ever.

aw, sweet, thank you, emily:)
ReplyDeleteToby is the cutest.
ReplyDeleteoh my god. that tattoo on his chubby little pinchable calf kills me. How can you stand it!!!
ReplyDeleteAs I said before...as much as I love your writing, I can't get enough of your most personal pics! Such a treat! Thanks so much for sharing ;) xoxo

I love these personal shots of your family! So cute, the taxi one especially.
ReplyDeleteLovely times like this makes spring not ever leave. J'adore nyc
ReplyDeleteThe first one is my favorite :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cute photos! On the cavity thing: I've had about 30 too and my husband none... and he drink 6 sodas a day and I don't drink ANY sugary drinks! I just don't get it. He teases me that Mtn. Dew is the secret cure-all. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSo So CUUUUTE!
ReplyDeleteToby's eyes are so gorgeous! I love the one of him hailing invisible cabs :) It's really fun to watch kids around the city!
ReplyDeleteAhh, so cute! I love your captions, too :)
ReplyDeleteI also thank you for your cavity comment-my husband has never had one either and I'm getting a tooth pulled next week (root canal that didn't end up so well). Is it just because they are men!??!?!?
ReplyDeleteAh! That mini taxi is so cute - perfect for a mini NYC native.
ReplyDeletealison, i have no idea!! it's crazy! :)
ReplyDeletemegan, i know! that little leg has been pinched so. many. times. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite photo is the one of Toby smelling the flowers!
ReplyDeleteToby is so adorable! I love his mini taxi. Thank you for sharing photos of your sweetest family.
ReplyDeleteI have never commented before. But I just want to say that it is so refreshing seeing a family thrive in NYC. Everyone always talks about how bad it is to raise kids in the city, but you are proof that people can make it work. Toby is the cutest ever!
ReplyDeletetoby on that plastic cab! it kills me. more please!
ReplyDeletethe cavity situation is the same here too.

With all of the amazing photos and wonderful family moments - I hate to say this but - why doesn't Alex wear a helmet skateboarding?!?
ReplyDelete(oh man, am I really THAT person! sorry Joanna! I'm four years out from a head injury and I still have headaches, I zero in on these things)
Otherwise, its a delightful post (as always) and its fun to see your daily city life. Thank you for having the vulnerability to share, and endure readers like me! haha
I LOVE TOBY!
ReplyDeleteHis taxi is the coolest thing ever, and seeing the tiny guy hailing invisible cabs is sooo funny!
so lovely! I especially like the photo of you and your man during teeth brushing time :)
ReplyDeleteTreasure Tromp
This made me realize that I need to take way more photos!
ReplyDeleteAlso, your photos are totally getting my psyched up for having a baby boy this October - woohoo!
Oh thanks for this post. It made my day a little brighter. Toby is the cutest toddler ever and when i read your blog i want to visit NYC so much. Greetings from Slovenia :)
ReplyDeleteare you going to share pics from your moms party? id love to see what you came up with!
ReplyDeleteFunny about the cavity comment. My husband only has one and I have too many!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are opposite- at 35 I have never had a cavity and at 42 my husband has had more than can be counted (plus a bridge, plus crowns, plus root canals, etc. etc. etc.) So it is not just a man thing.
ReplyDeleteOMG Love all of those:)
ReplyDeleteWhat happy "behind the scenes" photos; you're all so flipping lovely. And the one where Toby is scarfing down the popicle... check out the kid's hair behind him. I wonder if his whole head is like that or if he has a sort of mohawk (or fauxhawk). Either way, awesome.
ReplyDeleteJoanna - Your son really is so freaking adorable. Those eyelashes kill me. I was cracking up out loud when I saw the size of that popsicle - it's as big as his head! lol. Spring in the city looks enchanting :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, I love the one of Toby smelling flowers, it is precious, one of those you blow up big, frame and put on the wall : )
ReplyDeleteOMG, Joanna, I feel your cavity pain. And my boyfriend has never had a cavity either! So unfair.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all of these! I especially love the teeth-brushing one. I think the bedtime routine is oddly romantic and fun. My mister & I always seem to laugh while getting ready for bed.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
So cute! I love that taxi photo.
ReplyDeletetoby is just plain adorable! looks like you're enjoying the start of summer!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting those photos! Love them! Can't get over how adorable Toby is. :)
ReplyDeleteI've had MANY cavities and fillings too!! My brother has poor brushing habits and he's never had a filling. sigh!
Oh no! Only a week and a half left of spring? Where is the year going? I seriously feel my days flying by me!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I moved away from NYC a year and a half ago to Baltimore because of work. We always talk about how we want to move back and raise a family in the city. Most people we know think we're crazy. Pictures of you and your family make me want to move back right now. Thanks for the smile.
ReplyDeletethat taxi photo is a classic!
ReplyDeleteDidn't Toby have a onesie with the same crane print as the sweatshirt he's wearing while hailing invisible cabs? What's the company again? It's darling!
ReplyDeletei freakin love toby.
ReplyDeletetoby hailing an invisible cab is too much cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! You have an adorable family, and I mean it when I say it :) Btw, Toby is one of the cutest kids I have ever seen, no exaggeration needed. His eyebrows are one of a kind. So much personality!
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful day!
Bela.
Aww, I love these! How sweet of you all to get your mom all of those balloons! I think I'm trying to suck in all the spring I can before it reaches the 100's again.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet are these puctures!? Love!
ReplyDeleteAlex on a skateboard!
ReplyDeleteI love love love the photos. Thank you for sharing with us. I especially enjoyed: chubby legs, Alex on a skateboard, the men with balloons (I imagine them gleefully marching down the street) and Toby with his popsicle--grasping the actually frozen popsicle instead of the stick! Hee hee.
ReplyDeleteThese photos must elicit endorphins or something. They make me feel good, almost good enough to want my own two year old. Good thing I have a grandson . I can get my fill of that particular joy one only gets from being with an inquisitive, happy three year old. Later, when I need a nap, his parents take him home. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteawww such great photos! Your family is beautiful!
ReplyDeletemeredith, it's winter water factory -- they make such cute stuff! :)
ReplyDeleteaww, nancykate, that is so cute:)

ReplyDeletePS. I'll be 26 this year and I've never had a cavity either. (;
I love this! Thank you for sharing. I've had such a hard day today and this immediately brightened my mood and gave me a much needed change in perspective. Thanks Joanna!

ReplyDeletewow. seeing these pictures makes me want to have a baby asap :) and I'm usually a non-baby-friendly person :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love these! We live on a small farm in a small town in VA and it seems like my son (2 yrs old) never has clothes on. I always felt bad that he ran around half naked, wondering what the neighbors were thinking about our little streaker! Glad to see Toby does it in the big city too!
ReplyDeleteomg, nick and toby are TWINS.

I like the half way across the chubby foot velcro action. Could he be any cuter?
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to see another grown ass man who skateboards. My husband skateboards and I always think, "Maybe he's too old to almost break his neck for fun." But then I think I'm just acting like a grandma and I realize it's actually kind of cool that he skateboards.
ReplyDelete: )
toby's eyelashes are so gorgeous! :) why do boys always get the prettier, longer, eyelashes?
