Brooklyn Bridge bike ride

Last night, Alex, Toby and I rode across the Brooklyn Bridge. Manhattan looked beautiful in front of a bright pink sunset, and it was one of those perfect New York moments. Toby's still working on his smile for photos, and I thought this smile was a great one! What a bunny. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Update: Thanks for your comments. My sunglasses are from Lookmatic. My specific pair (Colt) is sold out, but I also like the Harpers and Wayfarers. xo

  2. New York City was a beautiful one. My friend and I wandered down to Little Italy for dinner and dessert at our favorite restaurant. It was such a peaceful night.

  10. super cute! my just-two-year-old is working on his smile too, but it mostly still looks like a grimace! We've been saying, "Say cheese! Show your teeth!" enough that he now refers to his front teeth as his "cheese teeth". Ha!

  12. That photo smile is hilarious. My toddler son's photo small is HIDEOUS and he does it EVERY time. Toby is winning so far.

Love the idea of a bike ride - may need to persuade my boys to head out this evening for a quick one.

  13. Lol... I love that Toby is working on his smile. My boys are cheesballs too and love being in photos but sometimes the oldest smiles so hard his cheeks raise so high it looks like his eyes are closed,he used to do it all the time in school pictures. Over the years we told people to never tell him to say "cheese", just smile!

The boys and I explored Brooklyn bridge park 2 or 3 weeks ago and loved it, so much that we didn't have a chance to walk it back into the city but it's still on our list.

  34. That is a great Toby smile. My niece, who's 2 1/2, tends to have a baring of teeth when she smiles for photos. :) Have to work on getting those corners turned up...

Your sunset bike ride reminds me of the little jaunt my bf and I took out to Half Moon Bay yesterday. The weather in the Bay Area was gorgeous, but we skirted the traffic by having dinner later in the afternoon, then going for a beach stroll afterward. By the time we drove back home, shadows were falling on the flower farms and fields were they grow pumpkins and Christmas trees, but still light out. Magical time of day.

We walked across the brooklyn bridge at midnight on our last night... a little scary riding the subway that late, but a great way to end the trip! 50. Joanna, this is so funny. I love your very European side, always taking into consideration the Brits and the French in culture, style and child-rearing. Here you say,"he's still working on his smile for photos." I think it would be poignant to show this to the French, who truly cannot understand our crazy huge camera-ready forced smiles in every photo. I always tell them "it's just what we are raised to do, we cant imagine any other way to be in pictures.".
It's one oddity chez les américains that I can totally appreciate from the French perspective, but still, I wouldn't put on a pouty face or blank stare in a photo for anything.

  51. How adorable, Joanna! Toby looks a lot like your brother, no?
