oooh i would wear the first pink one. what a gorgeous bride! i wore a grey wedding dress and loved it!
ReplyDeleteThat second black dress photo was taken where I grew up! So great.
ReplyDeleteMy mom wore red at her wedding, I plan to do the same :) the pink is nice too though
ReplyDeletei would probably choose a white dress (but i would wear any of those another time!) overall i think a bride should be able to wear whatever she wants - it's her day!
ReplyDeleteLove the colorful wedding dress idea! I think it adds so much character and personality to the wedding!
ReplyDeleteThese pink one for me!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.noemijariodblog.com/placid-i-julia/
I am dead. These killed me. I love the bright orange one! That's me and my mom's favorite! I also loved the sparkly emerald one and the black dress was stunning. Absolutely stunning. This was such a pretty post. Love!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! My step-mom wore a red dress that she made herself, and I chose a simple blue one. I am secretly hoping my daughter chooses a more colorful route too :)
ReplyDeleteThe orange dress is SO stunning. I went for a white (well, ivory) dress, but I fully support brides who want to go for color on their wedding day. If you're fashionable and bold, color can open up so many more fun options.
ReplyDeletei hate pink but im liking that one by jenny packham. i think my favorites are the orange and emerald.
ReplyDeleteI agree-that orange dress is killer. I wore a raspberry colored dress to my wedding.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to wear a yellow dress, but nixed the idea when my husband confided in me that he had been dreaming about seeing me in a white dress. Ok, white! But man, I've gushing over that pink Packham dress ever since I spotted those photos. GUSH. I need my every day life to have more occasions that warrant a good dressing up.
ReplyDelete(Have you ever written about what people do with their wedding dresses afterwards? Curious to know. Do they wear them again? Anniversaries, or something?)
I've already got my white dress, but if I had found an emerald green dress like that one, OH you BET I would be fashioning it down the aisle! And tears? Yes, yes indeed, I will be crying. But I am so looking forward to it. :)
ReplyDeleteKatie
I love the first green dress, but the black is also intensely stunning.
ReplyDeletea light pink one, i think. or a really fairy-tale-fluffy-light blue one. I can't choose. so many beautiful pics, i especially love the Jenny packham dress. it is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThey are so perfect I love this picture!
ReplyDeletehttp://gandacummings.blogspot.com
Oh my! These dresses and color choices area all amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love the bright orange, such a gorgeous statement.
I also love the subtly of the pinks, I had a cream sheer layer on my dress with pale rosy pink underneath and a nude/lace bustier... and I loved my dress.
But... I LOVE the idea of a bright pop of color, or the addition of a metallic even!
Great post Joanna.
Xx
The orange or the gold would work best with my skin tone. I love them both. So elegant and original!
ReplyDeletethis is making me wish I branched out & went away from white!
ReplyDeletelove that polka dot one!
Beautiful dresses! I'd probably do with one of the pink ones. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteI would pick that second pink one for sure!!!!!! I can't believe she designed it herself! How cool!!!
ReplyDeleteI know I'll wear white/ivory, but I absolutely LOVE the pink Jenny Packham and the pink ballgown below it. Also a huge sucker for gold and glitter...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the second pink one. Such a nice twist on classic white with the hint of color. Can't even stand how beautiful it is! They all are, really!
ReplyDeleteThat orange dress is the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely, but I could have never worn anything but white. I'm too much of a traditionalist, and I had been longing to wear that special long white dress for all my life. I figured that there are plenty of occasions later to wear brightly hued formal dresses -- there's only one chance to wear a wedding dress!
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't my first wedding, or marrying for the first time, but already with a child, I'd probably wear a pearl or grey or something iridescent.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a first wedding, with no children, white is really the most appropriate. Although, I actually got married in an ecru colored gown.
And agreed with some other commenters that the orange dress is INCREDIBLE.
ReplyDeleteI could never pull it off - but that orange dress is STUNNING.
ReplyDelete-kw, ladiesinnavy
I wore a handmade peach crepe gown from the 1930's, which had been worn only one other time, at the prior owner's wedding. The cap sleeves sort of fluttered and the underside was a pink. If I had a second chance, I wouldn't have changed a thing.
ReplyDeleteomg ALL of those dresses just look STUNNING! makes me rethink the idea of a white gown :D
ReplyDeletei like the "organic" look of the kelly green with a lush green setting, but then again i like how the orange POPS! the bride is supposed to be the one on display anyways, right!?!
cheers.
I ordered a beautiful custom white dress and when it arrived it just didn't feel right... so at the last minute i chose a Tracy Reese blue dress for our elopement. My mom wore a blue dress when she married my dad 40 years ago- it just felt right!
ReplyDeleteHere tis! http://www.designsponge.com/2010/11/weekly-wrap-up-beautiful-elopement-video.html
oooh, i like the pale pink best. fine line, though, between pale pink and obnoxious pink.
ReplyDeleteI'd either go for a pale pink or a super cheerful yellow. It's funny you posted this today . . . I'm buying my wedding dress this evening (it's white).
ReplyDeleteI think to each their own... however, I feel like wearing a white dress is something you don't get to do very often in life (aside from casual dresses, ya know?) and it's such a special tradition!
ReplyDeleteI know in Austria way back when brides wore black dresses. : )
I remember reading that SJP said she regretted her black wedding dress:
“I’m not kidding. White it up. I’d wear a beautiful, proper wedding dress, like I should have worn that day.”
http://www.celebritybrideguide.com/sarah-jessica-parker-wedding-regret/
but again, to each their own. : )
(sorry for the novel-length comment.)
I love traditions and white, so guess what I think.

♥
Gah-ly that green sequin is amazing.
ReplyDeletei think i'd do a soft gold, bronze or a saturated forest green... although a stunning royal blue would be equally dazzling...
ReplyDeleteI have an unhealthy obsession with that orange dress.
ReplyDeleteI would wear a gorgeous blue colour, not navy, but something brighter! But not too bright... something along the lines of a jewel toned blue :) Emerald green is gorgeous and I totally dig the polka dots. I wore an ivory wedding dress by Casablanca. xx
ReplyDeleteThe black dress is my signature! I would love to wear a black wedding gown with the bridesmaids in ivory!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love all of these! The emerald and the orange are my favourite! And I love how stunning the black looks! Such beautiful dresses! I wore white (or Diamond as it was actually called) but I really think these colours are so unique, I'd love to do a vow renewal and be able to punch it up with some colour...if it's more 'you' to wear a coloured wedding dress, I say go for it. Thanks for this collection!
ReplyDeleteI wore a homemade fuschia silk wrap dress, my husband wore a lighter pink dress shirt (with his brown suit of course) and our daughter wore the frilliest white dress imaginable with the sash made out of the same fabric as my dress. I loved that the vibrant colours matched our joyous mood.
ReplyDeleteGreen! Green, green and more green.
ReplyDeleteWe actually have a very dear friend who is an older Indonesian man and he insisted on taking me to shanghai to buy 7 wedding dresses (one pink, one blue, one yellow, one light purple, one dark purple, one green and one white). It was so insane I just about did it.
I would wear the grey or the polka dot one, but the orange one looks absolutely stunning on the bride (actually, they all look rather gorgeous). When I get married I will definitely wear a colored dress for reasons I won't elaborate (all good!). Plus I am super pale, so white isn't necessarily the best color for me.
ReplyDeleteI'd go for the polka dot or the black, I think. Definitely not that glittery green one..
ReplyDeleteI'm getting married in November and am going with classic ivory in a cool hammered silk, but I did dream of colorful dresses. I love all of these, but my favorite is the orange. It's so vibrant and beautiful!
ReplyDeletei wore grey and loved it!
ReplyDeleteGreen's my signature color so seeing women rocking it at their wedding made my heart pitter pat a bit. ♥
ReplyDeleteI wore ivory, but if I were to pick a color it would probably be a shade of green or a shade of purple. That polka dot dress is lovely, though!
ReplyDeleteAh, I'm in love with Jenny Packham right now after seeing that dress that Kate Middleton wore. I just looked at the site via your link, and the bridal collection is stttuuuunnning! Would it be too Ms. Havisham-ish if I bought one just to prance around town in? :)
ReplyDeleteLove this post - all of the dresses and photos you found are stunning! I love the green and black options. And, yes, I cried at my wedding but I cried more at the rehearsal (maybe my subconscious wanted to get it out early?!)
ReplyDeleteThank you SO MUCH for posting pictures of a lesbian couple. All of these brides are outrageously gorgeous but it was particularly fun to see those.
ReplyDeletethe first emerald green one! or the bright orange! I just love bright colors........if I had my choice it'd probably be a shade of turquoise bc it's my all time fave! ;)
ReplyDeleteI guess I was pretty boring and wore a traditional white dress. I've gotta say though, if you really want the "wow" factor you would pretty much knock 'em out with that orange dress. I mean, just imagine walking down the aisle in that. Everyone's jaws would drop to the floor because it's certinaly not you're average wedding dress. Very gutsy. LOVE, Love, luv it!!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised that my then-fiance, now my husband (who is a kooky, creative type), wanted to see me in a traditional white gown. I went with ivory. ;)
ReplyDeletethat orange dress is STUNNING. but i'd probably go for blush pink or baby blue if i couldn't have white. but i'm so looking forward to wearing white! when else do you get to wear a white floor length gown??
ReplyDeleteThey all look gorgeous! Such a fantastic testimony to each woman wearing what suits her. Personally I would adore either of the pink ones. I got married in an all-night ceremony in the middle of the jungle, wearing a linen skirt and silk tunic top. I adore my husband and my wedding was incredible, but the clothing was the least of it. I have secret hopes of having a fancy anniversary party one of these days so I can get the pretty dress :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jo! Thank you so much for featuring our pictures by Chloe at Caught The Light. So glad that you liked my choice of dress!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are well? Are you planning on a trip to Polruan this year? x Philippa x
http://inspiredwinter.blogspot.com
this is definitely a DO!!
ReplyDeleteI say stick to white or something close to it... I do like that poofy dress with a little pink showing through
ReplyDeleteMy heart is in love with the Green Jenny Peckham. I have lusted after it for years....
ReplyDeleteBut that orange dress is stunning infact that west coast black ML dress has my heart going too. All of them are beautiful and reflect individuals.
I do believe it'll be colour all the way for me white is not my colour....
I'd wear any of those! I seriously considered a green wedding dress, and opted to change into a green cocktail dress for the last part of the reception, when my long white bias cut gown made getting down to the music a little difficult.
ReplyDeleteDidn't brides wear blue before Queen Victoria wore white?
White is meant to symbolize virginity, so... red!
ReplyDeletegaia, that's a good question! what DO people do with their dresses? i donated mine....you could also sell it on OnceWed or another site....or keep it for a daughter! :)
ReplyDeleteanne, that is so exciting!!!!!! congratulations!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteapril, how beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteanonymous, lol :)
ReplyDeletei love that first pink dress, what an original bride. if i ever get married i hope to have a wedding like hers.
ReplyDeleteI would wear that orange dress or maybe the second pink one.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that the black dresses are gorgeous, though.
I've change my mind! I would wear the first black dress!
:-)
That pink dress is beautiful!
ReplyDeletegreen or blue. that orange dress is gorgeous though!
ReplyDeleteThat polkadot dress!!! I am in looove.
ReplyDeletePolka dot love!! So feminine and gorgeous! I also love the second green dress, amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat pink beaded dress is gorgeous (and it looks even more amazing set off against the dark storm clouds). I also love the one below it, with just a few hints of pink in the full skirt.
ReplyDeleteThe embellished Emerald dress with the open back and beautiful bead work. FOR SURE. I am still not sure what to do with my dress..but because it was only $200, I don't feel terrible letting it sit around my house while I decide. I keep laughing at the thought of having it on one night when my husband gets home. HAH!
ReplyDeleteI've never wanted to wear white at my wedding. I've always wanted a pink/rose colored dress like the first pink one. Gorgeous. But that orange! Oooooh! Just magnificent.
ReplyDeleteI did cry at my wedding, but not too much thankfully as I look a fright after too much!!
ReplyDeleteI wore a silver grey wedding dress which I loved. All of these are gorgeous, but I particularly like the orange and the green ones.
All of these women look absolutely beautiful, I can hardly pick a favorite! Definitely makes me wonder if is should have strayed away from white...
ReplyDeleteoisforotto.blogspot.com
I wore a peacock blue Amsale (bridesmaid!) dress and my guests wore white. It was the best decision ever!
ReplyDeleteoooh, they are all so beautiful!
ReplyDeletepink, pink, pink! or polka dots!!!!! :)
ReplyDeletethe orange dress is gorgeous as is the 2nd pink one. i love the idea of not wearing white, but how often can you wear a big white dress?
ReplyDeleteLove it! I always imagined wearing deep red! I think if it is a second marriage or wedding post baby it is even more fun to try!
ReplyDeletelove the polka dot one!
ReplyDeleteI also really like the one with the ombre pink underneath the sheer layer.
WAH! love all of these! so creative and beautiful! i think i'd go for grey...or blush pink!
ReplyDeleteplus...i love this game! my mom and i love to look at magazines together and play "which one would you choose?" (clever title, eh?!) you have to pick a dress on a page with multiple dresses, no matter how god-awful they might be. and then you choose in your head and then one of us says, "go!" and then you both pick at the same time. we started playing when i was in hs and we were looking for prom dresses and we still play 15 years later...and sometimes we do it over the phone when we're both looking at magazines together. :)
anyway...you asking us to choose reminded me of our game...and that i should call my mom. so, thanks!
It really depends! I tend to look good in cream, blue/turquoise, peach, and pink so I'd likely pick one of those. I am not sure yet what I will get married in. We're planning on doing something super small or eloping so really depends.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to just choose one! I'd have to say the orange dress. I'd never be able to pull it off but that bride looks gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteP.s...I did cry at my wedding during the ceremony and my husband wiped a tear! One of my favorite moments. Luckily our photographer caught it! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving the black dress! I'm also just partial to wearing that color (very slimming). I do love the white with the pink underneath it too!
ReplyDeletexo
The coral one is gorgeous !
ReplyDeleteI love them all! If I had my wedding to do all over, I might go with a vintage looking pink like the one the woman with the dark hair and bun is wearing. They are all so lovely and dramatic!
ReplyDeleteI love the second black dress, and the ombre pink as well. I have to say, though, that slinky gold is SMASHING. If I hadn't chosen (and loved!) the traditional white-- well, ivory because I am a pale blonde who looks silly in white-- I'd probably go with that.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting married next spring and will be wearing a shorter-length dress that's a pale, icy blue with a bit of cream lace on the bodice. The skirt is pleated chiffon, perfect for twirling! White tends to wash me out, anyway :)
ReplyDeleteI love the orange dress and the green too. And the pinks...I actually wore grey lace and silver Thai silk when I got married because a. I wasn't 20 b. I love silver and grey c. my day, my choice. There was a small intake of breath on my mother's part but she realised that there was little point in protest. And the result was beautiful. Still is, upstairs in the wardrobe. And I've worn it again because it was a separate lace top and silk skirt. Just bear in mind - white dresses only came into fashion in the early 19th century. It's not written in stone.
ReplyDeleteDO!!! I wore red and cream at mine.
ReplyDeleteFirst thing that came to my mind when I saw the orange one: "OMG, that's so happy!!"
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, and cheerful, and beautiful, but I think I'd definitely go with any of the pink dresses, which ar AMAZING!!!! I had seen the first one before (maybe here?) and loved how she styled it with the red lips.
The second one is more me, simple and fun. And I love the way she wore her hair all natural..
I actually did wear a non-white dress, turquoise in fact! Made by my mother-in-law with this iridescent silk I'd bought in Thailand. I didn't even consider wearing white... My Turquoise Dress
ReplyDeletei think for an older couple or a second marriage-yes, go for it! The femaile couple look amazing. but other times only subtle colours-soft pink etc-look great-or ivory with a flash of colour. but those photos look amazing..not everyone would pull it off!
ReplyDeleteIf I couldn't wear white, I would definitely wear pale pink.
ReplyDeleteDid you know Sarah Jessica Parker regrets her black wedding dress?
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/29034566/ns/today-entertainment/t/style-icon-parker-regrets-black-wedding-dress/
oh god, dying over that bright orange one! so pretty. i'll more likely be in something like the pink jenny packham, a little more bridey looking. but if it were a dramatic-enough dress i'd love to wear black, how stunning! and i've always loved that polka-dot black/white/nude one :] so much pretty!
ReplyDeleteI am torn between the gray, the orange and the first pink one. The orange one is so stunning, she looks like a flame! It's so captivating.
ReplyDeleteAll of these dresses make me swoon! I love the idea of a non-white wedding dress. Gorgeous photos.
ReplyDeleteI love these! That Jenny Packham one is awesome! I also love the polka dots! I would totally wear a color or print. Love.
ReplyDeletei say do, do, do.. whatever feels good.
ReplyDeleteit's your special, unique day!
I'm loving the pink or green, but the lighter green.
ReplyDeleteAllie - I blubbered my way through the rehearsal vows too! Then on the actual day I just beamed.
ReplyDeleteI went for white - I forget who said it - but its not often you get to wear an all white dress!
These dresses are STUNNING though.
I think the embellished green dress was actually the bride's reception dress which she changed into after wearing a traditional white one. Why wear one dress when you can wear two?!
All these dresses are gorgeous and I would jump at the chance to wear any of them! But they all look like they are going to a ball or prom... On my wedding day, it will definitely be white for me!
ReplyDeleteDotted Swiss beige, a nice coffee ice cream beige
ReplyDeleteThese brides are all stunning! The one in orange is A VISION! Incredible. I wore a beaded ivory dress for my wedding, but the two sequined dresses here (grey with green sequins and pale pink with nude sequins) are both so so beautiful. I love these unconventional choices even though I went the conventional route myself. What a fun post!
ReplyDeleteI would love to wear Orange!!
ReplyDeleteas close to white as possible...so the pink ones. i'm traditional, so white it is for me!
ReplyDeleteI loved being a bride in white, but I have seen some really beautiful blush coloured dresses these days. One of my brides who I'm wedding planner for is wearing blush and I think it'll be really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBlue! My mom wore a blue dress at her wedding, but that was because my parents had the most casual wedding ever. She didn't want to buy a new dress, so she wore the one she had made for herself (she has MAD sewing skills) to wear to another wedding. It still looks so lovely, and I think it makes her wedding so much more HER.
ReplyDeleteIm wearing orange to my own wedding tomorrow!!!
ReplyDeleteHoly moly, that orange dress. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI'm traditional and wore white, but I think the colors are fabulous for a second wedding, vow renewal, etc.
I say do whatever you absolutely love and feel in your heart. I mean, isn't that the general theme of everyone's wedding? It's not what you wear but how you feel in it and how you feel on your momentous beautiful day of love.
ReplyDeleteGosh--great picks Joanna!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure which route I'll go. I LOVE color, but if I find a gorgeous white dress I won't say no just because it's "traditional."
I would wear one of the pink ones!
ReplyDeleteI wore a pale pink dress and thought it looked much lovelier than I thought I'd ever look in pink! And it had feathers.
ReplyDeleteI told my dress designer that I had one stipulations: not white. I suggested yellow, but he knew better and we ended up with, well, take a look for yourself:
http://answertheunasked.blogspot.com/p/wedding.html
Just pointing out the obvious, but white isn't everyone's 'tradition' :) I'm wearing red, which is the most traditional choice for me.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post! Not something I ever really considered until now, although I am keen on short casual wedding dresses, and natural hair. I would probably go with grey, since I just love that colour-but the black ones really struck me as super glamorous!
ReplyDeletei'm getting married again just so i can wear that polka dot dress.
ReplyDeleteGah! This makes me want to get married 100 times and wear something different each time. I love LOVE that poofy dress with the subtle pink. And how cool are the bridesmaids in their tanks and skirts!
ReplyDeleteA definite DO! It'd be neat to have a dress that really reflected you and your personality...
ReplyDeleteI was married this past Sunday and wore a teal silk dress that I had made in Thailand on a recent business trip. I combined the beautiful A-line dress with bright pink shoe---Everyone LOVED it!
ReplyDeleteIf I had it to do all over again I would wear something like that pale gray dress at the top. What a gorgeous dress!
ReplyDeleteI love the orange! I was married in white but the orange looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love anything non-traditional and I certainly wish I'd worn something other than white when I got married. That polka dotted dress has to be my favorite ever ~ I remember when photos of that wedding went viral....I was drooling over it. That dress, to me, is divine! (I also think that bride in the vibrant orange dress is amazing!)
ReplyDeleteI would totally rock that second pink one! So feminine and cute!
ReplyDeleteI've always dreamed wearing an ivory dress when my big day comes, but that Jenny Packham is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI love the emerald green dress and the orange one. Both are stunning and so memorable. And if it went to a tie break, I'd go for the orange - all that swirling silk. I say if you're going to do colour do it properly!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this post x
Pink, for sure! But I love that orange one!
ReplyDeleteI've actually always wanted to wear a light pink dress when I get married or a pastel lavender dress.
ReplyDelete~Sara
sarastrauss.blogspot.com
do! But make sure no one else is wearing the bride's color!
ReplyDeleteI've been obsessed with light blue dresses for weddings since I saw this wedding on Once Wed:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.oncewed.com/46717/wedding-blog/real-weddings/a-free-spirited-ball-of-a-wedding/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+OnceWed+%28Once+Wed%29
these are some of the most stunning dresses i've ever seen... i clicked on the "read more" prepared to say, "UGH i HATE colored wedding dresses!" and you have completely changed my mind. favorites are the emerald green and orange. amazing.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love the black one, especially with the dim lighting! So sultry!
ReplyDeleteI thought the orange dress was absolutely stunning! The color was so rich and incredible. One of my favorite wedding dresses is Gwen Stefani's dip-dyed Galliano dress. I loved the touch of fuchsia at the hem. It was amazing!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't choose a coloured dress, ivory every time for me. Love Philippa's green dress in the 2nd set of photos....altho she did have a traditional gown for her wedding and the green Jenny Packham dress is one she changed into for her reception :)
ReplyDeleteI triple love that black dress. It's what I wanted, but I got vetoed by my mother.
ReplyDeleteIn India (where my parents are from), wearing bright red is traditional as are other brightly colored outfits for the various event leading up to the wedding. It was a long conversation with my grandparents and later the sari stores to explain that the white sari I was requesting was, indeed, bridal. The only stores that carried this "very unusual" color cater specifically to American and British brides!
ReplyDeleteI wore a colored wedding gown--gold (with blue shoes!). I've seen pictures of the orange dress before--it's just stunning.
ReplyDeleteMy parents didn't get married before they had me and my to younger sisters, so my mother wore a dark sapphire blue dress, because she thought it would be inappropriate to dress in white.
ReplyDeleteIt was really beautiful, because it was so unique, so if/when I get married, I want to wear it - maybe with some modifications:)
LOVE the orange one! so bright and sassy!
ReplyDeleteThese dresses are beautiful. I wore a colored dress for my wedding (deep pink)
ReplyDeletePINK or red!
ReplyDeleteI'm considering a blush pink dress for my vintage garden party wedding... I just have to find the right one!
ReplyDeletei love this! i wore a vintage psychedelic floral, i'm thinking 60s, and it was SO BRIGHT! it was neon pink, bright magenta, bright green, neon aqua and cobalt. i felt so gorgeous in it. i figured why would i wear white if color is my whole life and what i feel best in? i'm an artist and color is my biggest thing, my husband loved it and only one person was surprised i didn't wear white haha.
ReplyDeletei say wear what you love because that's the one day of your life about love and what you wore :)
Without a doubt, the polka dots!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't wear white, or even a dress! I had a rose colored maxi skirt and an ivory lace bohemian blouse. I felt beautiful and I was sooooo comfortable.
ReplyDeleteKristen Marie out of Seattle snapped some photos of me, feel free to share!
http://www.iamkristenmarie.com/blog/2012/4/2/stephaniemike-elope-in-vegas.html
I now wish I would have picked a yellow wedding dress!! Although I also love the dove grey dress and the polka dots :)
ReplyDeleteI think if I had a chance to re-do my wedding, I would definitely pick a dress with color. I'm in love with those stunning Jenny Packhams!
ReplyDeletei believe the tag on the gown i wore said it was "eucalyptus"- a shimmery sage green. i am all for non-white gowns!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHowever, unless a it was a second wedding, I want white.
For a second wedding, the pale, pink, dress with thin straps is lovely!
Actually, I love them all. Not that I am planning to get married but I NEVER even thought of doing a different color. I think thats awesome. It's really something to think about, well when that time comes. lol
ReplyDeletewww.cancerinthecity.com
Most women only have one chance to wear a white formal gown--at their own wedding. For other events, women often shy away from formal white gowns because they say "I don't want to look like a bride." So carpe diem and wear that white dress to your wedding! All of the other gowns featured are gorgeous, but all but one of them could be worn to other things--a gala, someone else's black tie wedding (the white and pink would be a no to someone else's wedding), etc.
ReplyDeleteThose pink dresses are beautiful and I love the polka dot one. I can't imagine wearing anything other than white myself - but who knows what will happen when THE dress comes along?!
ReplyDeletethe orange. without a doubt.
ReplyDeletethe further i am from our wedding (12 1/2 years ago) the more i wonder why we fell into such traditional options. one's wedding day is a celebration of a unique relationship and everything about it should reflect the couple. why stick to traditions that others made and might not be appropriate or comfortable or meaningful????
on our wedding day i wore a raw cotton beaded dress (beige) that i found on the rack at barney's - it was lined with red kimono silk. when i buttoned up the train you could see folds of red. i thought it was pretty daring at the time. if i could do it all over again i would go so much bolder - maybe even the gold sequin!
Well now I am off to find a polka dot wedding dress for next January!
ReplyDeleteLove the gold one and the one from Jenny Packham
ReplyDeletethey are all really pretty, but i have had a serious crush on that jenny packham dress since i first saw it on someone's (possibly yours?) blog!
ReplyDeleteI wore a grey cashmere suit. This is me: http://www.uschiandkay.com/wp-content/uploads/AN-outdoor1.jpg
ReplyDeletegold! or pink! that pink dress is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOops. That last link I posted didn't work. I wore a grey cashmere 50s-style suit for my wedding. This is us!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.uschiandkay.com/real-wedding-aleksandra-and-nathan/
I've always had this weird thing about wearing white - it makes me look BIG in my mind, plus I always seem to spill on white clothes! SO, I went with light blue-green with green embroidery: my husband was all about wearing his family tartan, so I coordinated with that. It was light enough that it'd read as white in black and white photos, but not white.
ReplyDeleteLoving that pink dress designed by the bride! If I could get married again, I think I'd steal that one! The color is so soft and subtle. Which color would you pick!?
ReplyDeleteI adore all of these colors!!!! I barely ever wear black and white in general so a white/ivory dress may seem boring. I will want to dress it up with lace or beading. I would definitely have to have a brilliant and colorful bouquet!
ReplyDeleteLove love love the polka dot and emerald and orange ones. So amazing.
I just LOVE the Jenny Packham dresses. I have that first green one all over my Pinterest boards and I recognize the pale pink one as well. I'm very tempted to not wear white.
ReplyDeleteFun!!!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the orange dress, it's amazing.
Being a wedding photographer I get really excited when things are a little different, you would be surprised at how few people don't wear the white dress.... even when they've been married a few times before.
This is one of my favorite non-wedding white dress from last month that I photographed:

I love the wonderful colourful dresses but I think I'll be sticking to ivory for my wedding next year. I'm scared I won't stop crying during the day!
ReplyDeleteIs it bad I want them all? But really I gasped when I saw the black, so beautiful!! She looks so gorgeous, like a swan.
ReplyDeleteMine was gray - a soft dove gray with a charcoal silk chiffon overlay. It had pintucks and gray and ivory pearls. My best friend (since 6th grade!) made it for me based on a 1909-1911 dress by House of Worth that I saw in the Met's Costume Institute collection online. =)
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for the classic white dress! But having seen that elegant black dress... I am easily persuaded to consider other options :)
ReplyDeletemy sister wore a yellow dress for her wedding. yellow has always been her colour and when she stumbled across this yellow dress (after struggling to find one she liked in white), she couldn't refuse! she looked stunning too :)

I love the polka dot dress. They're all pretty in their own ways.
ReplyDeleteI do like classic white dresses but saying that, I hate huge white meringue dresses and would much rather have a more classy, classic colourful one :)

that orange won! iam not gonna married:) but i can see that finally people are broken the rules:) dont need to be the same
ReplyDeleteI have a thing for Autumn weddings. We had ours August 30th because it was the only time our venue had available. I love the Orange dress and the gold dress, they are bold and beautiful and would be perfect for a fall wedding. They are all stunning though.
ReplyDeleteI love this trend! And I think I also like orange the best, although I can't wear that color. :(
ReplyDeleteI wore white the first time. If I do it again, I'm wearing light blue. We shall see!
That orange dress is divine! I'd wear that in a heartbeat. And while I'm not a huge fan of pink that first pink dress is heavenly, and that black dreck is so beautifully dramatic. This was so much fun to look at!
ReplyDeleteoh, heavens that grey dress is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletelove the idea of it but doubt I ever would. The polka dots one, though, I ADORE. i wore a polka dress to my prom and I loved it. (maybe comparing a prom dress to a wedding dress is a bad idea ;))
ReplyDeletePink pink. But that black dress is absolutely stunning with the white bouquet. Brave bride!
ReplyDeletethe polka dot dress is killing me... so perfect
ReplyDeleteI have thought about this. I've been thinking of gray or silver for quite a while. But I can't shake the teal idea, either. There's also something pretty about a pale, pastel sky blue or pink.
ReplyDeleteI would go with something that's still very muted like grey or pale pink
ReplyDeletePersonally, I would wear anything but white.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing GREEN!!! It's a rich, dark, basil green, with an ivory lace stole (that I made!) to go with it. :) I am ALL about colored wedding dresses!
ReplyDeleteGrey or Black. Either one would be stunning.
ReplyDeleteFor my wedding however, I wore purple.
Don't tell my fiance, but there's a blush (neutral-pink) colored dress in the closet right now! My friend made a lovely custom shrug (also pink) to go with it.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, I just realized I get married in 5 weeks. Ack!
If I ever get married, it's always been part of my plan to pick a dress that isn't white. That said, I'd wear the first pink dress posted here. LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteThe second pink dress if we ever decide to get married again that is!
ReplyDeleteI wore a grey silk dress when we got married: http://www.knoopjes.blogspot.com/2011/08/yesterday-we-celebrated-our-8-year.html

My friends just got married in black in the Namibian desert. Specifically, the bride wore a black velvet dress. Looked amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pose in the first photo.
ReplyDeleteand that black dress is GORGEOUS!

If we are just talking color, I would probably go with light blue. BUT, if that first emerald green dress or the Jenny Packham dress were options, I would definitely go with one of those!! SUCH gorgeous dresses.
ReplyDeletewe used to do so many weddings and wedding fayre's at work that i have all my preferences picked out. i like non traditional things, less white more colour. hate black wedding dresses with a passion. i want to wear red when i get married. kinda like the chinese tradition.
ReplyDeleteAm I not allowed to pick purple? Then I go with green . . . probably a sage-y color.
ReplyDeleteI love the emerald green dress! I've always said that I want a green dress, I'm not a white person, I always wear color, I have hardly any neutrals in my closet so white just wouldn't be me!
ReplyDeleteI have never put much thought into a non white dress however now that I have seen this post I love the idea :)All of those dresses are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI wore a sunny yellow dress. Wouldn't have had it any other way!
ReplyDeleteEvery single one of these women looks so beautiful. I love the polka dot dress and always will!
