Mother's Day is Sunday, May 13th--about two weeks away! Here are 10 gifts she'll love...
A bouquet of peonies, above, since they're pretty much every woman's favorite flower. $93.
A mug to make her laugh, $14.
Brunch cooking class in Brooklyn, celebrated on Mother's Day. $125/person.
Plant topper, to fill her bedroom with light and rainbows, $140.
Morse code bracelet that spells out "mom," $40.
Fondue pot filled with chocolate, $20, plus a basket of strawberries. Made in Paris, naturellement.
Your favorite childhood photo sent to her in a silver frame, $28, to remind her that you'll always be her baby. (Get 10% off any Pinhole Press order with the code CUPOFJO.) P.S. That's my mom, my twin sister and me above:)
Friendship earrings--one for you and one for her. $55.
Field of Grass soy candle, to transport her to freshly cut grass in the countryside, among daisies, beneath the sun. $20.
An astrology reading, because how fun is that?! And lunch afterward to talk about it all.

P.S. More great gifts for women...

  3. hi,Instead of Peonies (which come into season in about a month or more) how about going a little more eco-freindly and give LILACS! They are so aromatic and easily accessible. The last few years I've been trying to go green with seasonal flowers. Love your cooking class suggestion!

But I am completely blown away that a bouquet of peonies is $93!!! Here in Germany, that would cost maximum 15€! If only I could air-mail flowers to my mom in the US... ;)

  20. I LOVE that mug! Also, who knew that peonies were so expensive!?! Will have to consider an export business - my yard is packed with peonies!

    ReplyDelete
  21. p.s. Anyone who has access to peonies will appreciate this tip: cut them when they just start to blossom (closed, but with a little give). Wrap them in newspaper and keep in your refrigerator for up to a month. Pull them out when you want them and put them in water.

We did this for my sister's wedding with hundreds of peonies last June and it was amazing. I'll be saving some to use all summer long from here on out.

  22. Pretty, pretty gifts! Am I crazy, or is $100+ out of the price-range of the average gift-giver? All of them are lovely gifts, though, despite the prices on the steep side. I like the mug of chocolate!

  35. I have to let everyone know about the COATT morse coded jewelry. I bought my mother in law a morse code bracelet for christmas and it was the biggest disappointment ever! the photos on the site make the bracelet look well-sized when in reality, it was SO THIN that it almost looked like dental floss and the beads used for the morse code were extremely (i'm talking EXTREMELY) tiny.

i love the idea of it but it was almost one of those things where i wanted to send it back and email her for making her site so misleading. i was really disappointed because i love the idea of her jewelry as it is so unique and sweet.

    just a word of caution!

Are a bouquet of peonies seriously $93?!?! I just picked an armload from my backyard last night. The first thing I did when we bought our house was plant 5 peony bushes. They are my absolute favorite! But maybe I should be selling them :)

This will be my third mother's day. The first two did not go well at all since, besides a card from my own mom, zilch. I'm actually kinda dreading it this year. Maybe I'm selfish for being disappointed?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anonymous6:30 PM

No, Amanda, you are not selfish for being disappointed. We do expect acknowledgment for our birthdays and something special like mother's day. I hope you put the work out that it is important to you. I know that I would LOVE that cooking class for mother's day. How awesome! Or even a simple brunch and a bouquet of flowers.
