hi,Instead of Peonies (which come into season in about a month or more) how about going a little more eco-freindly and give LILACS! They are so aromatic and easily accessible. The last few years I've been trying to go green with seasonal flowers. Love your cooking class suggestion!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous gift ideas! But the fondue pot is my fave, looks so delicious :)

ReplyDeleteBut I am completely blown away that a bouquet of peonies is $93!!! Here in Germany, that would cost maximum 15€! If only I could air-mail flowers to my mom in the US... ;)
Great gift ideas! Thanks :)

I LOVE that mug! Also, who knew that peonies were so expensive!?! Will have to consider an export business - my yard is packed with peonies!
ReplyDeletep.s. Anyone who has access to peonies will appreciate this tip: cut them when they just start to blossom (closed, but with a little give). Wrap them in newspaper and keep in your refrigerator for up to a month. Pull them out when you want them and put them in water.
ReplyDeleteWe did this for my sister's wedding with hundreds of peonies last June and it was amazing. I'll be saving some to use all summer long from here on out.
Pretty, pretty gifts! Am I crazy, or is $100+ out of the price-range of the average gift-giver? All of them are lovely gifts, though, despite the prices on the steep side. I like the mug of chocolate!
ReplyDeleteWhere has the plant topper been all my life?
ReplyDeletethe flowers from first photo are my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteI can see any mom being happy with all these Mother's Day gifts but the mug is priceless!
ReplyDeleteI love the plant topper. I am quite lucky in that I get two mothers day to celebrate. I celebrate the European one and the U.S. one. I am really spoiled !
ReplyDeleteEh, peonies will be in season soon, I can't see paying $93 for them.
ReplyDeleteIf you live close to your mom, you could buy a few peony bushes for your mom and plant them in her yard...for much less money.
Well, if the British Mother's Day hadn't already visited, I'd be opting for the stunning bouquet!

ReplyDeleteSuch lovely ideas, and those peonies are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteEvery year since I was a little girl, I've made a gift for my mom for Mother's Day. What used to be macaroni and glitter pictures has evolved into customized tablecloths and fabric wreaths.
I love the idea of doing an astrology reading. The gift of spending time together is always the best idea, especially when its super fun like this!

I have to let everyone know about the COATT morse coded jewelry. I bought my mother in law a morse code bracelet for christmas and it was the biggest disappointment ever! the photos on the site make the bracelet look well-sized when in reality, it was SO THIN that it almost looked like dental floss and the beads used for the morse code were extremely (i'm talking EXTREMELY) tiny.
ReplyDeletei love the idea of it but it was almost one of those things where i wanted to send it back and email her for making her site so misleading. i was really disappointed because i love the idea of her jewelry as it is so unique and sweet.
just a word of caution!
Great picks! The photo of you, your sister and your mom is super cute!
ReplyDeletegreat guide! i LOVE the old photo in a new frame! good call.

ReplyDeleteAre a bouquet of peonies seriously $93?!?! I just picked an armload from my backyard last night. The first thing I did when we bought our house was plant 5 peony bushes. They are my absolute favorite! But maybe I should be selling them :)
ReplyDeleteThis will be my third mother's day. The first two did not go well at all since, besides a card from my own mom, zilch. I'm actually kinda dreading it this year. Maybe I'm selfish for being disappointed?
No, Amanda, you are not selfish for being disappointed. We do expect acknowledgment for our birthdays and something special like mother's day. I hope you put the work out that it is important to you. I know that I would LOVE that cooking class for mother's day. How awesome! Or even a simple brunch and a bouquet of flowers.
