The maternity line HATCH just launched their spring collection, and it's absolutely beautiful, don't you think? While looking through their site, I found myself daydreaming about walking around New York rocking a bump in these gorgeous clothes. They're so much prettier than the black T-shirt I wore everyday when I was expecting Toby! I also love the styling with glasses and sandals.Bonus: Cup of Jo readers get a 10% discount off any order just by "liking" Hatch on Facebook.
(HATCH is one of my beloved sponsors, but this isn't a sponsored post. Thanks!)

I can't help but wonder if you're having a bubs? :)
ReplyDeleteI wondered the same! Is another baby on the way?
ReplyDeletethese are so cute!

I posted about them just last night! Loving the collection :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, me too, ever since the previous post about Hatch or something. But I'm not going to ask!
ReplyDeletegreat collection!
ReplyDeletei have many friends who LOVE this line!
Happy monday!

So pretty! I used to make my own maternity clothes because the ones in the store were so ugly back 20 years ago!
ReplyDeleteIs it standard for maternity lines to use regular models with fake baby bumps? The disparity between how thin these models are and how unnatural the bellies look throws me off. The clothes seem really cute though.
ReplyDeletethese are gorgeous! I can't wait to be preggers just so I can wear these!
ReplyDeleteI agree with previous commenters....are you trying to hint that Toby might be a big brother?? :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish it wasn't so expensive! Finding cute but affordable maternity clothes is not easy.
ReplyDeleteGreat clothes, but those models are starting to hurt my big ol' pregnant feelings with their skinny arms and faces! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been coveting that blue striped top BIG TIME. I love all their stuff.

I want every piece and I have no intention of becoming pregnant!
ReplyDeleteI just gasped at how lovely that green jacket is!
ReplyDeleteI shop maternity simply because of their cute clothes, maybe they'll come in handy one day. :)
Katie
These clothes make me want to be pregnant. And I don't even have "the urge".
ReplyDeletethis is amazing, i love it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolute perfection is all I can say to this. xxx
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL line!! I'm not even thinking about kids yet, but when I do, I'm buying clothes here. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Do they really use models with fake bumps? Or do they just find those lucky women who are pregnant and tiny?
ReplyDeleteAnd add me to the list of those wondering if you're preggo again. : )
This line is so beautiful, but insanely expensive. I agree w/a few other comments and wonder why maternity lines use non-pregnant woman to model their maternity clothes. I'm not saying a woman can't be thin and just have a belly, but this girl simply cannot be pregnant.
ReplyDeletei've totally been eyeing the collection (over an ever-growing bump). unfortunately it's out of my price range. fun to window shop though!
ReplyDeleteFinally!!! Some cool pregnancy outfits! That's a plus!

I love these... so cute. For my next baby! lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, these outfits make me want to carry a baby...on the other hand, that might just be the ridiculously tiny models with bumps?
ReplyDeleteThey do look so effortlessly chic, and that is just how us pregnant woman need to look!
ReplyDeletehttp://gandacummings.blogspot.com
These are pretty but.....aren't they basically just 'large' sizes of normal clothes? They kind of just look baggy, like when you pull on your husbands t-shirt at 4 months pregnant to feel like you've got more room!
ReplyDeleteLovely colours, though.
Aaaah I want another baby bump! Love Hatch, but wish it wasn't so pricey!
ReplyDeleteI love that jacket and the tube dress!! It can totally be worn after the pregnancy. xoxo

I agree with the other commenters...I don't think those models are really pregnant!
ReplyDeleteI want those clothes and I'm not even pregnant!

ReplyDeleteI'm not even pregnant and I want these clothes!! I'll admit it's a little pricey, but why not look absolutely stunning when you're pregnant? Beautiful clothing!

ReplyDeleteThose a wonderful...and hmmmm, is a baby on the way??
ReplyDeleteWhat's the coupon code? I'm placing an order, liked them on Facebook - but there's no code :)
ReplyDeleteWOW super cute! I'm def going to keep an eye on their site once I have my own bump!!! PS - I love the name Toby so cute!!! xoxo A-
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I wish I was pregnant ahah :)

This does not help my baby fever. Now I think I have bump fever too.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about other maternity lines, but I think part of Hatch's concept is that the you can still wear their clothes post-pregnancy. So maybe they used a skinny chic to easily show that they look nice with or without a bump? I'm just guessing!
ReplyDeleteMaternity clothes- I'd love some of those styles in non-maternity clothes!
ReplyDeleteI actually preferred wearing more figure hugging clothing when I was pregnant (probably because I am no supermodel so I felt like wearing loose clothing made me look huge instead of pregnant) but I like that jacket!
ReplyDeleteLovely :)
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite is the blue and white striped tank with the rolled jeans! This would have been my go to outfit for running around the neighborhood. How cute and effortless!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute clothes...!
ReplyDeleteThat third dress down is beautiful. Also, I love the jacket.
ReplyDeleteOh I am a bit sad that I will never be pregnant again (I have three:) and be able to wear stylish clothes and be huge...:)
ReplyDeleteI was checking out Hatch's website for the first time the other day, and while I loved just about everything I saw, I just couldn't imagine spending that kind of money. I totally get that these items of clothing are made to suit both pregnant and non-pregnant women alike, but still!
ReplyDeleteIn this economy, I would feel too ashamed to spend that much money on such simple, although lovely, clothing. I'm curious to know what demographics the company is geared toward. It looks like they're trying to appeal to the J.Crew/Madewell crowd, including myself, but the prices are borderline high-end designer. Is that a good strategy?
Obviously, this is just my own opinion, but perhaps it's something Hatch should consider. I don't believe their target audience can afford this.
My husband and I are thinking about having a baby, and cute clothes like these make the idea sound even better than it already is!

Jo, thanks for letting us know that this is not a sponsored post.
ReplyDeleteLately, I have noticed that you're doing a lot of posts on companies that advertise with you, but that you are clear are not "sponsored posts." Can you let us know the actual difference? It's confusing because it seems like a plurality, if not majority, of your sponsored-like non-sponsored posts (such as this one) are of companies that do in fact advertise with you. It seems like fewer of those kinds of posts are actually of companies from which you don't get any money, ie. don't advertise here.
I think it's fair to know the difference between advertisement and editorial content, as a reader, so I'd appreciate your elucidating (of course, with an answer that is not simply "this isn't a sponsored post," since you have been clear on that point).
Also, I agree with the above commenters on this company's aesthetic - skinny white and white-looking models with fake bellies. Yuck! I'm a pregnant woman of color in the city, and the models/advertising alone would make me steer clear. I'd rather spend my money on a company that sees me!
Thanks, Jo!
these truly are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI am 65 years old and I love these clothes. I found the site when looking for maternity clothes for my daughter! They are the perfect solution for older women! I am in good shape, but it is hard to find chic "slouchy" clothes that aren't matronly ! I love the fabrics and styles (the caftan/ the slouch dress), and I find them well priced for something I will wear all the time. Hey girls, tell your moms about these clothes!
ReplyDeleteWow! The most gorgeous maternity I think I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteWow this post just makes my baby fever even worse. The clothes are absolutely gorgeous, which I never thought I'd say about maternity clothing.
ReplyDeleteccerebrations.blogspot.com
Anyone know if those are real maternity jeans with the cute striped tank??! I want those!
ReplyDeleteThose straps and mint colors make me want to have a baby again... Love the "non-maternity" prego clothing line! Love!

I'm not pregnant but I couldn't see myself spending almost $200 on an "errands dress". Nice but pricey.
ReplyDeleteIt's these simple but chic lines that are really getting me lately. Like Emerson Fry.
ReplyDeleteI've got to say I'm not crazy about most of those pieces. they look nice on the model of course, but the majority of pregnant women need a bit more body hugging definition, I think or they'll just look their are wearing a big fat bag!
ReplyDeleteJust clicked through the site and it gets worse! omg, no matter who you are, do NOT wear a freaking one piece jumper, especially while pregnant! Hideous! Pregnant women are HAVING babies, they are not becoming babies! Jumpers do not belong on anyone potty-trained! lol!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely my dream maternity line - now all I need is a bump! :)
ReplyDeleteThe clothes look nice, but because they're designed for models with balloons under their shirts.. On most curvy pregnant woman, it'd end up looking unflattering like a mumu..
ReplyDeleteI can't help but notice that every model I see lately (not just on this site) is tall and stick-thin. I know this has been the norm for a while, especially on runway, but even commercial sites on the web are straying from beautiful curves. A lot of the super expensive clothes they're wearing wouldn't look right on the average sized 12 girl. I just wish I saw more variety... ESP with a maternity line.
It kind of makes me sad knowing there's likely lots of teens/young women looking at these models, struggling with their own self-image and the definition of beautiful.
So hip! Loving that fashion has done well by the ladies with a baby bump:)
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago Joanna mentioned that she was sooo sleepy and thinking about taking up knitting. I think hints are being dropped!
ReplyDeleteAgree that the clothes are gorgeous but I wouldn't be tempted to buy anything until I say them on an actual pregnant looking woman, not someone stick-thin with a beach ball belly. I KNOW that some women are like that when pregnant but it definitely is not what I look like, or any of the women I know, so it seems like a silly marketing scheme. If you want to convince me that I will look great in your clothes, could you find a model that is a bit more 'average' looking? For example, how about a plus-sized model with a fake belly? Atleast its a step closer to reality.
ReplyDeleteThe clothes are quite lovely, but are not suitable if you've got a curvy figure, or even a little (or a lot) more than just a curvy figure. Baggy just doesn't work if you look like Joan Holloway on Mad Men!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfits.... the jewelry is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThese GORGEOUS! I just wish they weren't so much $$$ especially "the gown" :/
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew about this brand a few months ago!!!!!
ReplyDeletekisses from Spain!

I like the look of these on really thin women. But for a lot of us who are curvier, this kind of baggy, no-waistline look just doesn't work - especially when you're pregnant. I'm 25 weeks right now, and have to stick to fitted maternity clothes to keep from looking like a giant whale. But do keep the maternity-related posts coming! I get so many great ideas from your site :)
ReplyDeleteYIKES!! The only person of color on the whole Hatch website, as far as I can tell, is a Black baby, held by a white woman, on the "Charity" page.
ReplyDeleteOh, wait, the white woman has also generously slung her twig arm around a woman of color later in the "Charity" page as well.
Joanna, I appreciate that you're British, but please don't subject us to any more neocolonial imagery...this is honestly really offensive and disturbing.
To the above poster: If you're upset about the images on the Hatch website, write them, not Joanna. The clothes are stunning.
ReplyDeleteLove the clothes! I must agree with other commentors that the regular skinny models with bumps is not too appealing for maternity wear. I like how other brands like old navy use a slightly bigger model so you at least get the idea of how A normal pregnant woman might look!
ReplyDeletei love these maternity clothes. I always say just because you`re pregnant doesn`t mean one must let herself go. I see it as an opportunity to venture into a whole new style of wardrobe you wouldn`t normally get to wear otherwise. The new mother is beautiful and fabulous and there is no need to hide her behind frumpy man clothes found in her husband`s closet. As for everybody`s comments on the skinny models with fake bumps, yes I agree they should mix it up a bit but if that`s the image they are going for then no need to knock them. I know plenty of women that are still very slim when they are pregnant. They do exist and no it does not mean they are unhealthy, we are just built differently that`s all!
ReplyDeleteCall me an old fogey, but thank God women are again wearing baggy maternity clothes. I never liked the look of tight tops stretched over the tummy. Sure, it's something to be proud of but let's not pretend it's attractive! (Yeah, I'm in trouble now).
ReplyDeleteI love the clothes, but those stick models are doing nothing for the clothes. I dont think I would buy, simply because its hard to imagine how the clothes would look on me (a pregnant size 10).
ReplyDeleteoh LOVE! wish I could get stylish maternity clothes like that here in Italy. I relay on big shirts from GAP and leggings...
ReplyDeleteLOVELY PICS:) I really like your blog and will happily follow. If you want some swedish decor inspiration you can check out my blog:)

And there might be even twins, considering the pictures in the previous post! I'm kidding, but who knows..
ReplyDeleteDiana, I thought twins as well!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous--I want to wear them all. I too wish they were a bit cheaper. Even in the $200 I could rationalize but their a bit much for me to justify. Gorgeous though. I love the mint, fawn and melon colors.
ReplyDeleteHello, all. Captain Obvious, here! I just wanted to point out that these clothes wouldn't look anywhere near as nice on anyone who isn't a model. They're so baggy! The average woman, pregnant or not, would not look great in such baggy clothes. And, by the way, when I say 'average woman' I don't mean average overweight woman. I'm a size 2-4, and I'm certain I would look like a baby whale in these shapeless clothes.
ReplyDeletethese are gorgeous and the styling is amazing. I would love to have worn something like this.
ReplyDeletethese clothes are so beautiful! i would wear them now..and i am not even pregnant! thanks for poasting!
ReplyDeleteThese are just lovely! Where was this when I was pregnant this time last year?! :)

I completely agree with all the other commenters here. As someone who is currently 5 months pregnant, I love all these clothes, but I can't help but wonder how they will look on a real pregnant body. Even though I am 5'9" I don't think I could pull off most of these in my lumpy pregnant state. I also just can't justify spending this kind of money on something that I will wear for a few months and then want to burn (if you have been pregnant before you will know what I mean about wanting to get rid of all your maternity clothes!).
ReplyDeleteI am just entering my 2nd trimester and would love to buy a dress from HATCH for a wedding I'm going to in August, which I will be rather pregnant for! They look so effortlessly beautiful and comfy!
ReplyDeleteMaternity clothes are making me crazy baby hungry!
ReplyDeletehttp://knownitwasyou.blogspot.com
These are vey unhealthy images - advertising's assault on the bodies of real women at its worst! I am a female OB-GYN, and wouldn't in good conscience ever encourage my patients, pregnant or not, to consider these advertising images as anything but harmful. These shameful images promote dangerous and unhealthy ideas about what a pregnant female body should look like. 90% of my pregnant patients would suffer miscarriages if their bodies looked like those of these models, whom I presume - for their sakes, at least - are not in fact pregnant.
ReplyDeleteJoanna, you frequently say "we're all in this together." I've read this from you in many posts, including posts about your bout with depression and other parenting topics. If you really mean this, will you stop accepting advertisements from companies that advance harmful images like this? Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is when you make statements like that?
So nice
ReplyDeleteI think these clothese are just beautiful (and that you should be kind to Joanna!)!!
ReplyDeletecan we not be so critical and "PC" all the time?! good grief!
ReplyDeleteand for those who are bothered by ultra thin women who are pregnant-selling gorgeous clothes... please try to remember that women come in so many shapes and sizes and that includes thin builds as well. dont pull a reverse discrimination from curvy to thin because like you-this is how some of us are built.
thank you for sharing this line-its so nice to see pretty maternity clothes for once! :)

I would love to have worn something like this.
ReplyDeleteso sexy mummys!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! you cannot say that a woman is pregnant with that dress. It really brings the beauty of a pregnant mother.
ReplyDeleteHi, so what is the discount code for Hatch for liking on facebook? I'm missing something.
ReplyDeletethanks.
great blog
I think maternity clothes are come in many style. According to me this time, though, it is probably safe to say that the clothes will have more sequins and sparkle, given Beyoncé's signature look. Look at the singer's maternity style thus far, and tell us if you think her designs will rock pregnant mamas' worlds!
