It's hard to be two.
Sweet Easter egg.
Thumbs up for giant balloons!
What a fascinating article about love and life.
After going through my own bout of depression last year, I loved this description by Rachel Maddow about her experiences. (Listen from 32:00 to 33:30). Thought you might like.
Have a good one! xoxo

Have SO much fun; take pictures of that POOL!!!

ReplyDeleteGreat links! Have so much fun in Austin! Our Texas weather is PERFECT this time of year! Make sure you take a family picture in the bluebonnets! People pull over on the side of the highway to get great shots, so if you see a nice looking patch-- pull over!
ReplyDeleteNice weekend to you too :) And to everyone else as well!
ReplyDeleteAnna ~Moments of Libra
I love Rachel Maddow! Her style too!! I like that her point about not being embarrassed about depression, when I am depressed I do everything I can to hide it. Which helps no one! xo
ReplyDeleteHaha, love the tumblr!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
I'm heading to a garden fair tomorrow just in time to get some major inspirations for Spring...

Have a lovely weekend! And thanks for being brave enough to share your experience of depression last year. If more people would talk about it openly I think so much would change for the better!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend! And thanks for being brave enough to share your experience of depression last year. If more people would talk about it openly I think so much would change for the better!

those shoes! how funny... I saw them last week at this great shoe boutique on the upper west side called TANI which you must check out (they have great guys shoes as well)... and not to be cheesy or weird but I thought of you and how they were very much your style!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful image! Your weekend links are always so interesting and fun, I always look forward to them! That's terrible how that Vogue writer put her daughter on a diet. So not right! x

Have a fantastic time in Austin!!! I lived there for a few years and am still madly in love with it. You will LOVE Barton Springs. It's amazing. Bring a good picnic along and eat beside Barton Creek. Also, that wedding with the striped bridesmaids dresses was so perfect. Makes me wish I was planning a wedding of my own! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI love that sweet photo. Happy travels!
ReplyDeleteNot to be Debbie Downer here, but I have those Marais shoes in red, and while they are SO adorable, they are the most uncomfortable shoes I own. Really stiff, and the fabric is so unforgiving/tough on your skin and heels.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I refuse to give them away because they are so cute. Get compliments every time. But they are painful (oof, that skinny little strap kills).
Just feel like you need all the info, Joanna!
HOOPS!
ReplyDeleteYAY, have fun!!
ReplyDeleteIn NYC right now and I am blown away by the number of central American nannies on the upper west side. It seems very classist to me. I'm glad I don't see the same thing everyday in Boston.
ReplyDeleteJust enjoying a cup of tea and my two little ones napping and I clicked on your link to the article about the woman who visited the psychic. Now, I'm fighting back tears. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous trip!
This tumblr is INSANE!! I should not have clicked on this at work, I'm trying not to laugh !!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat tumblr is really funny, gave me the giggle I needed today.. thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI was sure that I'd spot you and the boys crossing the bridge on bike for the Bklyn park spring fling tomorrow, and unfortunately it seems like there is a 70% chance of rain, so it may get cancelled.
ReplyDeleteSafe Travels and soak in the sun in Austin, my boys and I are heading to Arizona in a week and it's 90 over there too.
Love the shoes, needs a pair of coral skinnies or a floral dress.
My bestie who's a nanny for a family on the Upper west was furious with that NY TIMES article, she loves the 3 she cares for but only gets paid $15 an hour total and basically lives there.
Happy weekend all!
Heard about htat stuff already.
ReplyDeletehahaha i just spent half an hour on that tumblr! its hilarious
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend and safe travelling!
ReplyDeleteI love love love the idea of a breakfast table that Trent Walton talks about re blogs. I think it would make the internet a happier place! I also love those shoes - all three colours are amazing! Shopbop is the best site ever. Xo

Love the picture. Nice day
ReplyDeleteWow! The article by Marcia Desanctis brought me to tears. And loved, it's hard being two. I could have photographed something similar at the grocery store today! They feel their emotions so intensely. It is indeed hard being two... and three.....and four.....
ReplyDeleteThanks for these fabulous links. Have a wonderful weekend!
We love Austin! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteTerry Gross & Rachel Maddow in the same room. How wonderful is that?! I am so proud of people (YOU! & Rachel) who can face their depression head on. So Brave. I deal with anxiety and it is comforting to know that I am not the only one floating out there in the ocean...
ReplyDeletei love that Rachel Maddow interview. Thank-you. Whether you agree with her politics or not, she is so smart and her discussion about her depression is touching. It reminds me that we are all human and have to cope with various things. She is amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove that egg message!
ReplyDeletethat tumblr was awesome..i feel so down right now..just needed that.
ReplyDeleteMake sure to have breakfast at Kirby Lane. Gingerbread pancakes!
ReplyDelete"It's hard to be two" is the best! I also love the Modern Love series in the NY Times. Sometimes I think about submitting to them, but I don't have my story written yet haha.

love reading your blog.....Loved seeing that you like how colorful Sanford Bigger's work at MASS MoCA looks! I work at the museum....you should come visit, there are many rad things here!
ReplyDeleteI always love your blog so much!! Also, how do you pick your photo for the "Have a Good Weekend" post? Is it just a random photo that you came across and loved this week or do they have meaning? Just curious :-)
ReplyDeleteThose shoes the bridesmaids are wearing, I've been looking for some like those everywhere! I don't even know what they're called. (the brown leather or fake leather booties that lace up). Does anyone know where I can find some like it (preferably not too expensive)? They're so cute!
ReplyDeletevery interesting links!

oooo i've always wanted to visit austin! especially after the "keep austin weird campaign"--loved that.
ReplyDeleteHello! Hope you're having fun in Austin! My bother lives there and he loves it. I'm sure you will too.
ReplyDeleteBut I've got a big question for you and I was hoping that you read this far down in the comments to answer it. First off, I love your blog and read it all the time. It's so wonderful how you share so much with everyone. And when I have a question, like now, I say to myself "oh I'll just ask Joanna," which is funny and a little strange.
Anyways, on to my question. I JUST bought a wedding dress. It was a sample and it is really pretty so I bought it on the spot. It needs some alterations, of course, but it seems a little more unique than some other dresses I've come across. But I made the mistake of keeping my appointment at jcrew and tried on the Bettina dress and I felt like that dress was much more my style and maybe the vibe we want for the wedding. So it seems like I should just go with the jcrew, but my mom and sister (who both live in Ann arbor, Michigan!) say that the dress I already bought is much more special and unique, which is true. So here is where I need your advice. Do you regret wearing a jcrew dress to your wedding (even though it was stunning)? Sometimes you post wedding dresses that you would wear if you got married now which makes me worry that I'll somehow regret not choosing a more special dress.
Sorry for such a long comment! Love your blog!

I just read your beautiful and honest post about the period of time you felt depressed. Thank you so much for sharing your experience so honestly and openly. I think it will help so many women who may not have known what was happening otherwise. It broke my heart to read what you went through and made me cry. I am so happy that you are happy again!

What a sweet photo!
ReplyDeleteI just cried through the last half of the article about love and life. Just on Friday, my cousin was diagnosed with metastasized breast cancer after they realized it had moved to her liver. She was stage I only 2 months ago and is now faced with holding her two young boys for a finite amount of time. Interesting timing for such an interesting perspective, and a good reminder to love as hard, and as often as you can.
ReplyDeleteI love the links you posted! great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post. If you’re looking for California travel services then there is great resources for you out there.
