Cute clothes, but could that model be any skinnier? I'm getting sick of this look, not to mention that I believe it is super irresponsible to promote body image and beauty that is one of an unhealthy weight. I know people have been saying this for the last 20 years (Glamour mag being one of the pioneers), but I am going to keep saying it until it changes.
ReplyDeletewhy did she change the name?
ReplyDeleteI am soooo excited about this! I have been waiting for the spring line to launch!
ReplyDeleteSimple and feminine. Love it!
ReplyDeleteLooks very 60s French summer!
ReplyDeleteThat pink skirt is so cute, I love these clothes but they're so pricey!

ReplyDeletePS- That Raglan T is most awesome. I've always liked that look, happy to see it making a glamourous come back.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I'm in love with that Blazer Trench in the navy pinstripes!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the model is skinny - I was just admiring her buff arms and legs.
ReplyDeleteShe's very fit and just as beautiful as the clothes! Emerson's collections are always gorgeous.
So fabulous that I'm ordering some from Australia. P.s. I LOVE your blog. Fantastic. Thanks for the great content.
ReplyDeleteHi Jo - your new transparency of sponsorship is awesome! Love, love, love EmersonMade.
ReplyDeleteI love emerson fry! I do miss her modeling but her style is great.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous clothes! And isn't the model so Carla Bruni? :)
ReplyDeleteGreat collection! I love everything!

Am I the only one who is confused by the new site layout? I can't figure out how to browse it...
ReplyDeleteLovely clothing and styling, but here's the big question I've been pondering for months (maybe someone can answer?): where are the amazing flower brooches? I totally miss those.
ReplyDeleteI love this collection so much that I splurged (went over my spring budget) and bought four pieces today. It's just too good, and the few items I've bought from Emersonmade have all come well-made, nicely packaged, etc., and the clothes fit well. I'm Canadian, but also really appreciate that there's a US component to the manufacture of the clothes. Most J Crew stuff is made in China. I'd rather pay a bit more and buy something that is at least partially manufactured in North America. But that's me! Great blog, Joanna!
ReplyDeleteI love all the clothes here. Everything. I just wish the website was better. I can't find any of the old stuff and the drop down menus disappear.
ReplyDeleteThis collection is impeccable, but unfortunately a bit too pricey for me. Not sure most of J Crew stuff is made in China, likely some. The shoes are definitely made in Italy. As much as I'd like to vary where I shop more, 75% of my closet is from J Crew because their stuff (for the most part) is well made, classic and affordable. Their suits are unbeatable. The price jump from J Crew to a collection like this is considerable, so much so that even though I'd like to try Emerson Fry, unless I get a big promotion I'll keep shopping J Crew :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I have seen their advertisement on your blog, but never knew they were based in Portsmouth, NH... near me!
ReplyDeleteWhy are they "Emerson Fry New York City," though? The sensibility? Anyway, I love that dress!
Fantastic.. such great looks!
ReplyDeleteI like so much the colors and the style.
ReplyDeleteVery cool dresses shown above for this summer. As summer has just hit most of the countries, designer of all the countries are coming with their newly designer outfits for this summer.
ReplyDeleteJust checked out the whole collection - I'm in LOVE!

ReplyDeletewow
ReplyDeleteOh I love that last dress! Gorgeous!

I like their accessories. But, I must say that the clothes all seem rather boxy and plain. The models look cute, of course, but unless you are tall, thin and have fabulous accessories, I think most women would look rather boring in the clothes.
ReplyDeleteI've got to pipe in on the comment about the model's body size.
ReplyDeleteI'm sick of designers promoting unrealistic body types to sell clothing/shame women into feeling bad about themselves. However, this model has a beautiful healthy body. She isn't simply skin and bones. There's a big difference. You don't develop and keep muscle definition like that accidentally, clearly the model works to keep her physique.
So simple but so beautiful! I'm really in love with that stripped skirt and the sandals.
ReplyDeleteSomebody mentioned it above, but does anyone know why they stopped making their beautiful flower pins, lapels, brooches, etc? They were SUCH a signature of the brand. And I miss the farm pics! All the clothes are still impeccable, though.
ReplyDeleteI miss the adorable blonde model from the old Emerson Made website. But I still love their clothes!
ReplyDeleteI'm not an "activist" when it comes to the whole body size issue. But, I agree that model is too skinny. Yes, she has some muscle definition rather than just atrophied muscles, but that doesn't mean she's HEALTHY... she's lacking pretty much any body fat. There are a lot of people who don't eat enough and/or have eating disorders and who also exercise/strength train. But, it's hard to say what's what with this model. When I was younger, even college age, I simply couldn't put on weight. I WAS too skinny (my doctor said so) but I had a super-fast metabolism. Still, I think there are very few models who don't have some form of an eating disorder.
ReplyDeleteWhat gets me is how bow legs have become an attractive feature. First I thought that she simply didn't have normal muscle definition on her calves... they don't even come close to touching. Then I realized, no, she's bowlegged, and most "leggy" models (particularly runway models) seem to be.
third foto's outfit is just my style! simple & chic!
ReplyDeleteI'm anonymous at 10:56... actually I am going to correct myself. After looking at many more photos, I think the model looks okay. There are some in particular in which she looks skeletal, but then others where she seems to have some meat on her bones. (I had to look carefully because I began to think there were two different models - one long-haired, and one short-haired, with one thinner than theother - but I think they're the same person.) She's on the very thin side, made thinner by not having much of a chest, but I think she looks healthy. (I also really want her eye makeup.) I stand by my comment about bow legs, though. :-) I also stand by comments that just because someone works out to keep toned, that doesn't mean they can't be unhealthy and too skinny.
ReplyDeleteWhat about those gorgeous shoes in the first photo? Tan, with leather straps around the ankle. Anyone know where those are from?
ReplyDeleteabsolutely love the casual polished feel of the Emerson clothing line..so chic :-)
ReplyDeletehttp://nuhasofiyan.blogspot.com
oh! silly me. The shoes are Emerson Fry! How exciting.
ReplyDeleteHer longer tunics look fabulous. Ever notice how chic & insouciant she looks in her own clothes?! How she has cut them makes me think I could wear the clothes just like that, too! Can't wait to get my hands on some soon. The shoes are fun, too!
ReplyDeleteThis is just a quick response to Barbara Williams above. I actually own quite a few J Crew items, for the same reasons as you, but in my experience most things are made in China (pencil skirts, wool pants, pants, etc., even some of the shoes (if they're made in Italy they'll say so, otherwise they just state "Import" on their website)). Some of the J Crew jeans are made in the US and will say so, but not all. I don't know the exact proportions on their manufacture, but given the volumes and the margins that they're taking on the clothes, I'd hazard a resonable guess that at least two-thirds of the clothing that they sell is made in China. I'm not judging others for buying J Crew, but having bought a few pieces from Emersonmade in the last year or so I've been impressed with the quality and doubly impressed that the stuff is largely made in the US. For a lot of personal reasons, I'd rather start to buy fewer pieces of clothing and spend more to get stuff made closer to home (and hopefully under better labour conditions! (I'm a labour economist and so I know all of the arguments for and against, and am at least partly concerned with externalities). I'm also really really lucky in that I spend a lot of time in Italy with my partner, who lives there, so I buy my sohes there! To each his or her own though and I understand that everyone's budget is different!
ReplyDeleteMy response is simple: I need number 2.
