Travel-themed week

This week, I'd love to do a fun little travel-themed week. (We actually started yesterday:) After the excitement of the holidays, aren't you feeling wanderlusty and itching to go somewhere beautiful?
I'm curious: Where would you go today, if you could beam yourself anywhere?

If I could go anywhere I'd love to go see the stars at Ayers Rock in Australia. It's meant to be amazing, not a thing in sight apart from millions of twinkling lights above you.

I absolutely feel the same way! I leave for Madagascar at the end of next month (so excited), but I'd also love to travel to New Zealand some day!

At this moment, I'm feeling a little like Fiji. In general, it's been a few years since I've been to NYC, and I'm itching to go back!

If I were to beam myself anywhere today, I would probably head somewhere warm. The Midwest is having a bizarre winter. My beaming skills would probably cause me to land in a small, yet incredible, village in Spain or Africa.

I am dreaming of Amsterdam and Copenhagen. I would love to walk an old, charming city.

i used to think going to Paris was cliche, but now i want to so badly. But more than that, I want to go to croatia!

To Mozambique, to visit some friends there!

I will also love to go back to NYC for a few days! And in this trip I would take my 13 moths old son (I would not take him to Mozambique, cause I would always be afraid that he gets sick, with some tropical disease)

Actually off to Scotland for the weekend on Thursday with girls from my book club! I decided 2012 will be the year I finally take advantage of living so near to Europe and book some RyanAir flights. Flights within Europe are so cheap it's tragic I don't take advantage of it more often. NExt on the list might be Brussels..

I'm looking to travel to ... well the whole world actually. (Sigh, I would love to just pack and go. Leave for a year, or two. Unfortunately, finances are a little low these days. But if I had to pick a place: Iceland. Just for the sheer randomness and adventure of it all :)

if we're beaming ourselves anywhere, can the suspension of disbelief be extended to TIME MACHINES as well?
i'd love to experience 1960s cuba. so glamorous. also it SNOWED in DC yesterday, meaning that it's officially winter/officially time to start pining for sun and sand.

I think my favorite place of all to visit is Montreal. But, because I can't decide on one place and I want to visit them all, I'm currently planning {and saving for} a trip around the world {Europe, Asia and the South Pacific}. Now when I think of a place I want to go, I can put it on the google map I made for the trip.

Hi Joanna,

I would go back to this safari resort in Kenya: http://www.kichwatembo.com/

I went there when I was in college with my family and it's the most amazing place in the world. Who wouldn't want to go on safari and sleep in a tent with a marble bathroom?

Also, the best part is they come to wake you up in the morning with warm towels and tea and cookies.

I think my answer is always the same: Florence, Italy. I wound up there, against my will, on a backpacking trip a few years ago. The two nights I was supposed to stay turned into nearly a week, and I've been back twice since. I find myself feeling a sort of homesickness for this city I have never called home. I miss the smells, the sounds, and the meandering medievalness of the streets. So, yep. Florence.

I'm in Paris and today was very grey... grumpy weather...

Personally, I would not go very far : either Ireland (to see my boyfriend's home country, walk on the beach and in the rain, eat seafood, have beers at the pub in huge wool sweaters and sit by the fire)or the mountain to ski (is there anything better then a day of ski when it is not too cold and super sunny followed with a diner with mountain wine and some dish with melted cheese... ouuuhhhh cheese...)

My mom always told me that you have to make sure you can travel with someone before you can be sure you want to be with them forever! I think this rings true for both friends and significant others. My dream travel destinations for 2012 would have to be Ireland, to visit my boyfriend's sister, and Turkey, because it is the most incredible place in the world to visit. I haven't been close to everywhere in the world of course but I doubt anywhere can top Turkey. My for real 2012 travel includes California for a friend's wedding and a rafting trip downt he San Juan river in Utah. I can't wait!

Il de Re, France. It's a small 10 town island off the coast of Rochelle where they farm salt, have meandering rivers that flow past wind mills, where the sun sets after 11pm in the summer, where you can eat raw oysters until your hearts content and where I plan on retiring one day. Went there for a week last summer on my honeymoon and have been wanting to go back ever since.

Today I am feeling like Berlin or Prague would be my preferred places to spend an afternoon or evening strolling down cobble stone streets. Paris wouldn't be too shabby either.

Hmm, this is a good one. I would go back to Big Sur at The Post Ranch Inn. I was just there after Thanksgiving. Drove from LA to San Fran and stayed four nights there. If you've never been.....take a look, it is literally heaven on earth. A very very special place. Beautiful doesn't cut it. And it's more peaceful than your soul would expect. My husband and I have been invited to a dear childhood friend's wedding in Australia (we're in Wisconsin) this March. There is nothing we'd like more than to hop, skip, and jump right on over to that amazing island to support him and to explore it ourselves, but alas we just can't afford the tickets. It's a little heartbreaking...so we're investigating possible closer-to-home vacation options that will be in our budget. Living in the north, you really need sunshine and warmth right around February or you go crazy!

I can't read this week or I will go into deep depression! I have major wanderlust (it's year round) and your pictures have my mind racing...

Oh and Toby's accident last week made me so worried with you! Thankfully we've had no ER trips the past 2 years but know they're coming - my husband had a frequent card pass at the ER!

I am travelling right now, and although Perth is AMAZING and hot, I think if I could teleport myself at the moment, I would go home to Vancouver Island, Canada to see 'My People'. I would give up 32 degrees (Celsius) and brave the cold and rain to spend a bit of time with them.

...but then of course I'd want to come right back to Perth :)

ECUADOR!! I lived there for 3 months volunteering and keep having dreams about it this week! It's been killing me! When I finally make it back there I would also love to go down to Machu Picchu as well! So beautiful

While I can't get away to my dream destination today (Germany), I would like you to know that your lovely travel posts today inspired me to plan a weekend camping trip to Joshua Tree National Park. Any travel is a chance for adventure!

I'd love to go back to El Salvador (I spent a week there this summer and think about it every day!) or tour colleges in the UK... I'd love to be able to see the ones I'll eventually apply to in person!

Oh! One more! I think it would be ridiculously fun to go swimming in Bio Bay, if I could get over my fear of deep water. I can actually swim really well, I'm just scared of deep water. :)

Istanbul, The Grand Bazaar... To see (if not buy) jewelry, pottery, rugs, and a thousand more things! Oh, so colorful!

If I started listing all of the places I would beam myself, the list would take up pages! And I would probably spend days trying to decide where to go.

I love that tree in the Redwoods. A friend and I stopped there on a West Coast road trip once and drove through it twice. Once with her driving, once with me driving. So fun and so magical!

Somewhere warm, sunny and on the beach, preferably the Med. I'm already over grey, dreary winter/spring weather!

I am always feeling wanderlusty :D

I would love to travel through America, so probably get dropped at some point randomly and work my way around. That is my absolute dream travel idea. It is so huge and looks amazing :D

Hi! My name's Emily Chidester and I took that bottom picture of the boat- I don't know how it got on pinterest, but if you could link to my website, that'd be great! www.emilychidesterphotography.com -- and if you need any validation, if you go search "Emily Chidester" on blueberryweddings.com - that whole feature should show up.

Thanks!

I've traveled to a lot of cool places but at this very moment the only place I want to be in on a beach with a cocktail and some indulgent literature.

Actually, I would go anywhere that is 100 miles away from the nearest cubicle.

Your blog is my mini escape.

Cheers Joanna!
