Travel fantasy: Haven in Paris

Have you seen the beautiful Parisian apartments from Haven in Paris? On vacation, I love staying in apartments versus hotels, since you feel like an insider (and can pretend that you live there:). You could have adventures around town, eat stinky cheeses on your balcony, have dinner at a neighborhood restaurant, then read books and curl up in your own comfy bed. Who's in?!

P.S. Look at the views from the windows, yowza!

  3. Oh my goodness that bedroom with the wood beams is incredible! And I love the chevron wood floors in the first photo. I stayed in a town home in Normandy and it really does make you feel like you live there! Even going to the grocery store to stock up the kitchen was more exciting in France. :)

  7. Yeah, those are definitely gorgeous!

My mom went to London about a month ago and she stayed in an apartment too, she liked that a lot more than staying in hotels. She was right near all the action too. It's definitely a better option if you're a big group too. At least in London it was the same rate to pay for several hotel rooms as it was to just rent an apartment for the week.

  11. thank you, bethany! how exciting (and romantic) that you guys are going to paris. i've found that renting apartments is typically less expensive than most hotels. haven in paris has a bunch of studio and one-bedroom apartments that you might check out. i'd recommend choosing one close-ish to the river so you can walk to a bunch of sights/great little restaurants/etc. :) the marais is a fun neighborhood. yay, hope you have a wonderful time!!! oh, and budget travel has some great advice on the south of france--the loire, dordogne, etc.

have fun planning and even more fun traveling!! :)

  13. Ah yes please - I want to go back there so bad. I find myself dreaming about the cute little flat I stayed in while I was over in Paris. It was actually rather similar to this one. If only I could transfer my job over there - I would relocate in a heartbeat! One of my coworkers is going to Paris in a couple months so we have been dreaming and coming up with ideas for her to enjoy - I think I should really go with to be her tour guide!

  35. Ok, seriously that is incredibly expensive still (mind you, I'm still a student, but sometimes I'm baffled by the amounts people pay for just a sandwich. I know, i sound like my mother). Anyway I'd reccommend homelidays as well; they have appartments all over the world, and France is by far the one with the most houses, for every price range :)

  36. We rented an apartment in Paris for a week and it was wonderful! Absolutely prefer that over staying in a hotel. Ok, a conceriege would have been nice from time to time, but we figured it out. Can't remember who we rented from, but ours was a simple studio flat and it was lovely. Although if you can swing it, going posh would be nice, too :)

The concept of apartment renting in Paris is perfect, however, a word of caution to anyone looking to rent from any apartment management companies in Paris like Haven In Paris--a somewhat new law & division created specifically by the Mairie de Paris (Paris City Hall) clearly states these type of apartment rentals are ILLEGAL if they have not been zoned as commercial establishments and the division created is actively searching out the violators and immediately evicting any renting tenants. Renters are not in any way penalized, other then their immediate eviction, it's the owners who receive the monetary & legal penalties. Already knowing two such visiting guests who had to suddenly find hotel accommodations in the middle of their stays, it is a costly and miserable interruption to your Paris visit. As most of the apartment rental companies are not publicizing the risk, just be aware that it could and IS happening. The reason for the law and focus on these types of apartments is because too many Americans (& other foreigners) with holiday apartments are making money on holiday rentals but not paying appropriate taxes to France on this income. So it is justified in its creation. Just be careful who you rent from and know that the more publicized companies are also more likely to be found by the internet searchers on staff at this division.

Be as informed as you would be in your hotel searches.

  113. Joanna-I love your blog! Haven in Paris apartments are definitely some of the best places to stay in Paris as opposed to a hotel. I also love their blog.

I actually work with them and help their clients experience the Champagne region of France.

My company is called Tasty Side To Life Tours and I help people experience Champagne through 1 day small champagne producer tasting trips where people are able to drink amazing bubbly with various passionate small producers (as well as at big houses like Moet et Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, etc) eat a Michelin star lunch, see inside a regional Michelin star kitchen while hanging a bit with the chef, visit an escargot farm and drink champagne in an actual champagne tree house. I basically try to create a “Napa-like” small producer tasting experience in France which is quite hard to do without French language skills or insider knowledge.

Here is a link which Hip Paris has on their site about my business http://hipparis.com/tag/a-tasty-side-of-life/ and under their “service” “classes and tours” site-http://haveninparis.com/luxe.php - c9
