My husband actually tries to get me to love all the things he loves--sports, sci fi, hiking/camping, cheese, etc. I tell him that it's okay that we don't love all the same things, and he just says that he wants me to enjoy them as much as he does. Maybe I need to show him this chart so he can understand why he needs to hate all the things/people I do instead.
I totally agree! I feel like in the beginning my bf and I used to like more of the same things but these days I feel like there are more things we hate. I'm happy to hear that this is normal :)
this could not be more true! that is one of the reasons we love watching american idol, jersey shore and the bachelor together! He is even worse than me-he gets so caught up in it all and drags me down with him haha!
Hilarious - and true! My husband and I bonded on our first (blind) date over our mutual loathing of the film Titanic - we still say that Kate, Leo and Celine Dion helped bring us together! :-)
i became a football fan while watching as my husband explained the game and told me about the players. It still surprises me that I could ever like it. One more for the liking the same things column. Now on to baseball...maybe.
so true, we lvoe some of the same things, but have totally different tastes in others... but it really is the stuff that we both can't stand that we bond over ;)
Joanna how funny that you posted this today because I just shared this with my friends yesterday on my blog! It definitely got me thinking about the foundation of my relationships with girlfriends vs. my husband haha
I live in Manhattan with my husband and toddler son. Here's my portfolio website with magazine writing and branding work. For two years, I was the relationships blogger for Glamour Magazine, and now I blog for Conde Nast Traveler, as well. Follow me on Twitter or Pinterest. Please feel free to email me (hellojoannagoddard at gmail) if you'd like to advertise on Cup of Jo.
A Cup of Jo is a for-profit blog that I work on full-time to help support my family. A Cup of Jo features banner advertisements and sometimes includes affiliate links within certain posts. Affiliate links mean that we may make a small commission if a product is purchased through the blog. Of course, a reader would never pay more for a product; it's a branding relationship directly between the brand and me. A Cup of Jo posts only feature products I genuinely recommend and use for myself and my family, and are not influenced or pitched to me by advertisers. I very rarely do sponsored posts (maybe a few times a year); and if I do, I will mark it very clearly. I sometimes feature my sponsors' products within round-ups, link lists or gift guides, but only when it's a natural, organic fit and only when I would have included them even if they weren't sponsors; please know that this editorial inclusion is NOT paid for. Please feel free to email me at hellojoannagoddard (at) gmail (dot) com if you have any questions. After more than five years of blogging, I feel truly connected with my readers, and my relationship and trust with these incredible women is my absolute top priority.

Haha, this is great! Right now my husband and I are really into hating the model girl, Courtney, on The Bachelor (our guilty pleasure).
true for my relationship. the things we hate make us laugh a lot more then the things we like.

It´s true! hahaha!
Yes, this is entirely true, isn't it? It reminds me of that scene in Role Models in the coffee shop with venti/large coffee! Hahahaha!!!!!
True thing. People get so defensive with things they love if you hate them... :P it's a lot easier if you both hate the same things haha.
ah! i love this!!

Hilarious and SO true.
I once got a card that said, "We hate all the same people; Let's be friends!"

This totally made me laugh out loud.
Ha.. so very, very true
hahaha sad but sometimes true :)
Have to disagree! My relationship is founded on things we both like... foods, people, ideologies... maybe we're just corny!
But we both hate this chart :)
Hahaha, I love this! It reminds me of the phrase that they used to say on Best Week Ever...It's not what you're like, it's what you like.
Genius. And so true.
Hahaha I looove this image! What a good find :)
ha! ha! this is great! and I wanna say- it is true! indeed ;)
