What are you up to this weekend? We're heading to L.A. and Palm Springs, as I mentioned earlier, and I'm psyched for ripe avocados. Please wish us luck on the flight tonight (Toby is not loving the whole sitting-still thing these days), and I'm hoping our beloved sling will help. Have a wonderful weekend, and here are a few fun posts from around the web....The perfect Chambray shirt (if money were no object).
Little Paris paintings.
The Home Alone house is for sale!
Sexy.
This cookbook cover made me laugh.
I just got this puffy coat for the winter. Bad weather, bring it on.
Glow-in-the-dark bathroom.
What a gorgeous print of the Met's rooftop exhibit.
The Hovey sisters are now designing apartments!
Curious to try a pair of clear glasses. Have you ever worn them?
This sweater made me LOL.
And the complete 2011 Cup of Jo Holiday Gift Guide.

ReplyDeleteHave a great trip to Cali. It's a beautiful day here!
posh pearl, our sling is a single layer linen, one of the more basic ones. i love it, soooo cozy for naps, traveling, etc.
ReplyDeleteHave a safe and jolly trip, Joanna:) Btw: those little Paris painting are incredibly beautiful. (I'm loving the Paris Cafe in the 7th piece). xo
ReplyDeleteHave a safe flight and trip.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow is my, gulp, 24th birthday. Yikes! My childhood friends are coming over for a little celebration. I'm also hoping to see Young Adult.
Amanda
happy birthday, amanda!!!! 24 is an awesome age--still technically in your early twenties:)
ReplyDeletehave a great trip!! my husband and i had our first getaway since our baby to Palm Springs last weekend. it was beautiful and relaxing...a perfect 70 degrees. wishing you lots of luck with Toby on the flight. here's to hoping he sleeps the whole way!
ReplyDeleteSo you need to gate check your carseat and then ask if there is an extra seat open and then plop that Toby in it. It's a lifesaver at least for a couple of hours.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanna! Have a great trip! Can't wait to see all your photos!
ReplyDeleteRegarding clear glasses - Yes! I have worn them and loved them! I owned a pair of clear Ray Ban glasses with red "temple arms" for years before they wore out on me, they were wonderful and fun. I always received compliments on them, especially when I worked at the library! I definitely recommend buying a pair :)

bring lots of stickers! Great way to entertain in small spaces ;) Also a small object you can fit in your hand ... and hind in you hand and have him guess which hand it is in great airplane game ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't wear glasses but my friend Cerise has clear ones and they look awesome on her !
ReplyDeleteMy mom always wears chunky clear glasses. They are adorable. She has white hair and beautiful eyes.
ReplyDeletestickers, yes! going to run to the stationery shop right now:) and cerise looks beautiful, rebecca!!! thanks for all these sweet notes :)
ReplyDeleteI tried on clear glasses at Warby Parker and thought they looked way too much like the safety glasses you'd wear in shop class. Not quite the look I was going for.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the glow in the dark bathroom! Even the glow in the dark planets would work.
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely go with clear glasses. The guy I have a massive crush on at work wears them and he's totally adorable. = )
ReplyDeleteAvocados are my face lately, yum!!!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Have a great vacation! If you guys are in the Long Beach area email me:) And yes, I too wonder how clear glasses would look on me. They look fun.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time in L.A.
ReplyDeleteI got that same puffy coat last month (a first for me) and I LOVE it. I often wear as styled in the photo, unzipped but belted, for times when it isn't super cold
ReplyDeleteI had clear glasses for more than a year and really liked them. Go for it! I'm now wearing glasses from indienation.com - sustainable wood.
ReplyDeleteWhile in Palm Springs, you have to eat at LuLu and Cheeky's! The best brunch around.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing Ingid Bergman in clear glasses in Spellbound, I tried. But the look didn't work for me. I think it requires cool skin tones. Maybe looking like Bergman too!
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Palm Springs!
Have a blast in L.A. Its pretty windy down here today, so make sure to have a rubber band close by to keep that hair out of your face. That cookbook is hilarious. Wish I saw it before I bought all my friends gifts. That J. Crew jacket is wonderful! Looks like the perfect solution for a New York winter.

ReplyDeleteI could use a good avocado right now! yum!
ReplyDeleteOne of the edgier types in our design department has those clear glasses. I think I'll take the chunkier black ones like our creative director, though.
ReplyDeleteI got the shorter version of that puffer coat and absolutely LOVE it. I just wore it around Germany on vacation for a week in the snow and rain and didn't get too cold!
ReplyDeleteAlso-- try Matchbox Pizza when you're in Palm Springs. They fly in their ingredients from all over the world and it's the best pizza I've ever had.
Have a wonderful trip Joanna! I've just adopted a dog so the weekend will be spent wrapped up going for long walks.

ReplyDeleteI'm flying with my 15 month old in January, but we've always bought a ticket for him and he sits in his car seat. There's no way he would sit still now on my lap. I fly by myself because my husband can't take off a lot... I have lots of books and toys, etc. Best of luck to you! xx

both my fil and step-fil are all into clear frames. who knew the hip jewish senior would be all the rage? xx
ReplyDeleteOur two and a half year old is HANDFUL; but, we fly 4-5 times a year, so I've tried just about everything. What works the best is bringing the car seat on the plane even though it's a nightmare. He's used to having to sit in it, so I think he's more willing to stay in his seat that way. The only disadvantage is that it puts his feet right into contact with the seat in front of him, so we have to do some manuevering to make sure that seat is empty or one of us is sitting in it.
ReplyDeletehave a fun trip!!

ReplyDeleteLook, Jennifer Garner wearing clear glasses!!!
