This season, sparkles seem to be everywhere! I adore this understated long dress, with a peek of a sequined skirt. Have you ever seen anything like it? Elegant and glamorous; you'd be the beautiful yet mysterious girl at the party. :)
And these miniskirts are adorable for parties or even the office, since you could pair them with a wool sweater, like the model on the left. What do you think? Will you wear sparkles this holiday?

i adore sparkles. especially for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI really really want to! I just need somewhere to go! Unfortunately my office is the kind that would look at you weird if you came in in a sequined mini-skirt :)
ReplyDeletesparkles are the law at Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHey Joanna, I definitely love the sequined mini/wool sweater combo, it's relaxed but it looks like it could still work for holiday parties!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, have you started the articles club yet?! I remember you said something about it awhile back and it sounded fun!
YES! I am all about a little sparkle, so when I had the chance to grace the cover of an online magazine I knew I wanted to wear a gold, seaquinned mini! Here's the link :) Love this post, perfect for the holidays!
ReplyDeletehttp://abodelove.blogspot.com/2011/06/southern-flourish-is-live.html
I love the way they look on other people, but always feel a little too "JAZZ HANDS!". Is that weird?
ReplyDeleteI think I'd worry about snagging the sequins or having them get squished if I sat down, so I'm going to the sparkly sequined heels route instead. Nothing rings in the New Year better than sequins!
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm obsessed with the sequined miniskirt trend for the holidays!
ReplyDeleteI love a little sparkle in an outfit (an embellished tank under a sweater for example) but am not the type for a full sparkly look, but think it works great on others
ReplyDeletehttp://chicgeekery.blogspot.com/
Sparkles are always so fitting for the holidays. I hope to find a sequined skirt or dress for NYE!
ReplyDeletequindome, haha, that might have been the best comment ever in the history of CoJ:)
ReplyDeleteI am a huge sequin fan! I wear them all the time! I prefer my sequins to be black on black because it's understated, yet fun. I used to have this great sequined jacket that had a mishap and disintegrated in my hands. I was heartbroken and haven't found a proper replacement that's fitted, structured, and yet allover sequined. (and under $100)
ReplyDeleteerin, yes, sparkly heels are AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteI am all about the sparkles this season! That gold skirt would be so perfect for new years!
ReplyDeleteIt would be quite difficult at my office but YEs definelty at a party or to go to the restaurant. Sparkles are like pink, it makes me feels lighter when the days are harsh :)
ReplyDeleteYES!! These are so beautiful!
ReplyDeletei have two pairs of gorgeously sparkling heels (thank you las vegas!!) and i'm definitely lovin' the sequined look. not together though, as to avoid looking like a disco ball.
ReplyDeleteheck yes I'd wear sparkles! the hint of them beneath the slit in the first picture is amazing
ReplyDeletei am in love with sequins this year! they're just too much fun!!
ReplyDelete♥ allister bee blog
yes yes yes! either a sparkle skirt, heels, or jacket:) perfect for the holidays! xo
ReplyDeleteI think I would look for excuses to wear that dress. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteYes Yes Yes! I will TOTALLY wear sparkles! The sequin jacket that I wore in this post is probably one of my favorite pieces of clothing. ;)

Why, Joanna, I am wearing sparkles this very minute. Sitting at my desk. Sparkles forever, man. And for those who are scaredy-cats...there are subtle sparkles that aren't all Jazz Hands...that made me lol xo
ReplyDeletea little sparkle is fine like on the first picture :)
ReplyDeletei recently bought a sparkly skirt from styles for less for $16 (if i remember correctly). i'm totally gonna wear it for the holidays! LOVE sparkles!
ReplyDeleteAn absolute YES to sparkles! We are going to a big fancy New Year's party this year so I am psyched to have the opportunity to wear something a bit more over the top than usual. And speaking of sparkly heels, I was eying these heels from Modcloth - hope my size comes back in stock! http://www.modcloth.com/shop/shoes-heels/sparkle-an-interest-heel?utm_source=facebook&fb_source=message
ReplyDeletei don't even know what to say...that DRESS.... I NEED THAT DRESS!! it is perfect!
ReplyDeleteWould I wear sparkles???????
ReplyDeleteTry stop me!!!
hahaha!

I wear sparkles all year round! Sparkled tank top, flats, cardigan...not all at once though, don't worry! I think just a hint of sparkle with more casual stuff is perfection, like sparkled flats with a plaid shirt and jeans. I just wish I had an occasion to wear something full out sparkly! (working on New Years unfortunately-no glitter allowed at work!)
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, yes! I adore them. just posted about them! xo
ReplyDeletei LOVE sparkles!!! especially for the holidays =)
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes! I am completely in love with that long dress.
ReplyDeletesuch a lovely surprise i noticed and loved that sparkle everywhere trend and made more than one post on personal blog. u can check, if u like. and if u find it nice too, i would be so glad. cause i am happy to see we have shared same likeness about them.:)

Yes, yes, yes! I would wear them in the morning, to the office, and out late at night - heck I would even sleep in them I love them so much!
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
B
Definitely! I have this great dress from ASOS last year. What I love about it is how classy it can be. Mine is all silver sequins, is completely backless, yet has a great boatneck and cap sleeve and the dress comes to about an inch or two above the knee. I love pairing it with a cozy cardigan!
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to any functions that require dress up this season, but if I were I would totally wear sparkles.. I mean, why not?
ReplyDeleteI can't get enough sequins and sparkle during the holidays! I LOOOVE that first look with the sequins peaking out of the dress! What a fabulous idea!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.glamlatte.com
How funny! I JUST purchased a sequin mini dress for holiday parties! I'm excited. It's a bit over the top, but oh so festive! I fully support the sequin trend.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes!! Love sequins!
ReplyDeleteI need to say something Joanna..:
Just how much I love your blog! :-)
It feels like reading my favourite magazine, without having to wait for an entire month for a new edition to come out! I really enjoy reading it, just wanted to compliment you with your (writing) style and tell you that you are a true inspiration :-)

Yes! I definitely just bought a tiny gold sequined dress for $12 at Forever21 on Black Friday. I have no idea when I'm ever going to wear it, since I have no holiday parties planned. Would it be crazy to throw a party just for an excuse to wear a $12 dress?
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteSparkly nails! Subtle..but it might still make me mysterious at the party :)
ReplyDeleteI love this look, especially when it's toughened up with a wool sweater or leather boots - this is the time of year to wear sparkles!
ReplyDeleteAlso - that dress is just gorgeous:)
http://www.theblossomshed.blogspot.com
Absolutely! I found a cheaper version of the Zara one at H&M that I plan to tone down with a thick, cream-colored sweater and wool tights. I think as long as the rest of the outfit is neutral and understated, it's a winner!
ReplyDeleteI've been on the hunt for a super embellished, sequined, glittery shift dress. I like to bring in the new year obnoxiously. OH and I'm totally wearing a fascinator this year. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm usually only a sparkle girl during the holidays but I'm all for spicing things up any day of the year :)
ReplyDeleteI love sparkles! Especially during the holidays. When I was wedding dress shopping a few months ago, I gravitated towards the glittering, sequin-y accented gowns. My mom then told me I definitely take after my grandmother, her exact words being, "You both have glitter running through your veins!" :)
ReplyDeleteI've definitely been diggin' sparkles this year...they're so fun!
ReplyDeleteWow, the dress is so elegant!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the glitter look, particularly jcrews holiday collection.
ReplyDeletehttp://itsthelittle-things.blogspot.com
sequins for the office? that's so interesting! :)
ReplyDeletehttp://girlynote.blogspot.com
I love the look of the oversized sweater paired with the sequined mini! A look I never would have expected, but would be the perfect chic outfit to wear for drinks out with the girls!
ReplyDeletehttp://inanutshell.ca
I think it is :)
ReplyDeleteI love the look - both are spiffy!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for sparkles this season that I already broke out a sparkle sweater at Thanksgiving! It was also from Zara!
ReplyDeleteI most definitely would! It's so good for new year parties.
ReplyDeleteYES! One of the best things about the holiday season is that sparkles are all of a sudden acceptable :).
ReplyDeleteum I am sorta obsessed! I wear them daily ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, I do love a sequin or two. Just bought a gold sequined Zara clutch to add some sparkle to leaving drinks I'm having this week.

Yes, yes and YES! (I heart sparkles.)
ReplyDeletelove love love everything with sparkles, as evident on my Pinterest! :) That long dress/sequin skirt combo is TDF!
ReplyDeletexx Vivian @ http://diamondsandtulle.blogspot.com
only if I had legs like the models in the pictures...
ReplyDeleteIncredibly unique and very flattering style. I like it especially for the holiday season.
ReplyDeleteWould if I could! Maternity miniskirts, not so much!
ReplyDeleteOHH, Yes! I love sparkles.
ReplyDeleteacupofsparkle.blogspot.com
My sparkly purchase from last year is losing its sparkles! I love sparkly pieces for the holidays, but wish they were made to last!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! I love the peek too. I don't own much glitter, probably because I don't trust myself to keep it toned down.
ReplyDeletehttp://coloradouncouture.blogspot.com/
i love this combination!
ReplyDeletewww.absurdlypeculiar.blogspot.com
I love the look, but I'm not sure I'd have the courage to wear... sparkles attract too much attention and I'm a shy girl :)
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe on a special occasion (Christmas dinner?) I could take the 'risk'. But then, I hate buying clothes if I know I'm only going to wear them a couple of times.
Oh yes, no hesitation – I'd definitely wear sparkles. Give me a shirt with it, long dress, purse, but I"m still working on growing the balls to wear a short skirt though, maybe longer skirt :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love sparkles! I was dress-shopping for my sorority's semiformal this past weekend, and I really wanted sequins but I already have a full-sequin dress that I wore two years ago. So, I went with this cute by more understated sparkly dress from Express:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.express.com/sequin-belted-dress-40902-22/control/page/6/show/3/index.pro
I love but how on Earth does Nordies have a cheaper skirt than Zara?!
ReplyDeleteI would wear sparkles every day if I could! Loving these skirts- I think I may buy both!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!! Sequins were quite "in" last year too! I bought a fully sequined tank top (in gold!) for last New Years', and it's aaawesome! :-)
ReplyDeleteI saw that maxi on pinterest last week and flipped over it. it is so gorgeous! I would wear sparkles, but honestly I have so few occasions to do so that spending money on it seems silly. I think I'd go for a jacket like the first one here:
ReplyDeletehttp://nomadic-d.blogspot.com/2011/11/zipped-into-zara.html
But the reality is the sparkles will probably just stay on my nails like this:
http://nomadic-d.blogspot.com/2011/04/sparkly-nude.html
Love, love, love them. I got a great pencil skirt on sale at J Crew last year with a mix of sparkly and matte sequins. Love it!
ReplyDeletedefinitely! i used to be wary about sparkles and sequins but i recently came to love them. just bought a sequin skirt myself. i love the way it looks paired with a chambray/denim button down shirt or even just a plain old t-shirt. the sparkle it gives in the light it just so much fun, especially for the holidays. i don't think any girl's wardrobe is complete without a little something covered in sequins :)

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the sparkle that is currently happening. I don't have any yet myself but am hoping to find an item or two on sale soon. Or maybe figure out a DIY...
ReplyDeleteYes, i'm wearing them now! I adore this sparkle nail polish Looks Like Rain, Dear by O.P.I for Sephora. it's gorgeous on!
ReplyDeleteI'm not normally a sparkly girl but those look classy rather than cheesy and are so dang festive. Totally want one.
ReplyDeleteI have definitely given in to the sparkle trend. I got my first sparkly shirt last week.
ReplyDeleteYes maam, most definitely I would wear sequins---especially if it is that first outfit--love the little sparkle peeking out.
ReplyDeleteI've got a pair of understated nude sparkley flats by Chinese Laundry that I love, but I would love something simple up top too.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely....YES!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely... in fact, it is probably the maximum amount of sparkle that I would wear clothing-wise....a little flash, but not too much. Thanks for sharing! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid sparkles just aren't my thing. I like subdued colors, things that don't draw attention. And when I do happen to be in a conversation, I like to make eye contact....not (umm) skirt contact? That doesn't sound right.
ReplyDeleteI think there are some who can wear sparkles and look classy. That's just not me :)
cheers!
Daisy
I'm dreaming about a sequin skirt! (it could even be a golden one) to pair up with a neutral color shirt!
ReplyDeleteJust not too sure as to where I'd wear in my city's scorching weather!
xo
I don't think I would look amazing in sparkles, but they look gorgeous on other people!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Please do me the honor of stopping by my blog. I would love it if you would maybe leave a comment and tell me what you think or give me some advice. Thank you!
Sparkles are perfect for the holiday season.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thecitysheartbeat.com
I LOVE LOVE any blingage and SPARKLES. My Mother & Sissy took me on a shopping spree this past Saturday and I scooped up a skirt as you listed(Forever 21), and some and some sparkly booties at the Guess store and an adorable sexy Sparkly razor back flare top at H&M.
ReplyDeleteI'm so ready for the Holiday parties!
Woo Hoo!
Of Course I would not wear all of these at the same time.... LOL
ReplyDeleteForever 21 has a fantastic sort of rose-gold sequined cocktail dress that is calling my name. It would be stellar under a cute little blazer.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sequin junky! I just bought my new year's dress and it's covered in pink/bronze sequins.
ReplyDeleteI love all that Sparkles especially paired with something plan so there is no competition between the two pieces.
ReplyDeleteI'm Indian - love dressing up in a sari for a party / wedding which usually has sparkles galore - so glamorous! Indians eat sparkles for breakfast. In everyday life maybe a design on a tshirt :)
ReplyDeletemhmmm! gotta love sparkles!

i adore those sequin skirts! especially loving the one on the bottom left--pairing it with a nice, warm sweater? i adore!
ReplyDeletej.
I was a competition dancer growing up so I basically lived in glitter and sequens, and still try to wear them as much as possible. I love love these mini skirts

ReplyDeleteI would wear them but just for a party!
ReplyDeleteLove this look! I am going to try to recreate it myself. I found some mini sequin shorts at shopruche.com & I am going to try to recreate the maxi skirt with some curtain sheers that I found. I think it's going to look super classy & sexy!!
ReplyDeleteThat long dress is so beautiful. Love it so much. I want to see my wife wearing that kind of dress.
