When Harry Met Sally!!! That's one of my all time favorites. Along with "Sleepless in Seattle" and "You've Got Mail." I always end up watching them when they come on tv even though I own them... Silly, I know!

My vote is for "When Harry Met Sally" too. I would always watch it with my brother and sister when we were home from college. By the way, I have a twin sister too. :) I have almost every line memorized. Remember when she hair sprays her hair in the car before they go in the restaurant...so hilarious.

ReplyDeleteI love it! One of my dearest friends and I have set our life goal to be to make it through the AFI top 100 list. We get together every few months on a sunday and pick out a classic to watch. I'm going to suggest some of these! One of our favorites was "Some Like it Hot."

Another two: Persuasion (BBC version) and Sliding Doors. Every year or so I rewatch these.

I love The Tennenbaum and Woody Allen too. I would add Out of Sight and The Limey by Steven Soderbergh. I would not call Rosemary's Baby a movie "just for fun", it's so intense !

ReplyDeleteA bunch of mine are on your list! When I want a comfort movie I usually go for a classic romantic comedy (like 'When Harry Met Sally') or an adaptation of a nineteenth-century novel (namely, Jane Austen novels onscreen).

ReplyDeleteAn excellent documentary for autumn is 'It Might Get Loud', which features Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, The Edge from U2 and Jack White from the White Stripes. It goes through their guitar styles, what inspires them and music they grew up on. Excellent excellent movie, even for people who don't particularly care about those bands. VERY entertaining!
