Long-distance relationship pillows

Scottish designer Joanna Montgomery designed a pillow for couples in long-distance relationships. Each person wears a ring sensor to sleep at night. When one person goes to bed, their lover's pillow begins to glow softly, and you can hear each other's heart beating!

    ReplyDelete
  3. but if its a loooong distance relationship.. they probably wont be going to sleep at the same time due to the time difference isnt it?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Can this be real? I wish I'd had this for the last 2 years... So cute and romantic!

  5. Oh my. SO romantic. I'm going to admit that it makes me a little gooey inside just thinking about it!

  9. This is the sweetest and yet weirdest thing I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Haha - so bizarre. I'm in a long distance relationship and I'm not quite sure how I'd feel about sleeping on a glowing pillow.

Aww that made me tear up! I'm in a long distance relationship and I would love this. Because hugging a regular pillow doesn't always work! :-) If I sprayed his cologne on it, I'd be in heaven.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Wow, that's a crazy invention! Would love to try it out...

    ReplyDelete
  13. such a wonderful idea. My boyfriend is gone for a month at a time, for work, and we have no contact with one another. Wonder how it would work for time changes?

    ReplyDelete
  14. if i wasn't married to my long distance then i would be asking for this for christmas! although my distance was China to US, so it wouldn't have worked as well for us!

    ReplyDelete
  15. OMG! I would have loved to have one of these when my boyfriend and I were long distance. How sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I really like the concept of it but at the same time it's slightly weird. haha.

  18. Half creepy, half adorable!! I did long distance for a long time, and this would have been nice!

  19. Romantic but a little strange and that glow would get to me. Also after a while I'd probably not want the real thing. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  20. WOW!!! Is this sweet...or is technology getting scary!!...WOW! I'm not gonna be the judge. My love isn't far away! :-]

  28. What a brilliant idea! My husband and I used to date cross country when we met. I lived in San Diego and he in NYC. Then we lived together in NYC for 5 yrs and SD for 3. We recently moved back to NY but I travel back to SD every other 2 weeks for my business. These pillows would be great to have in our situation. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sweet and heart wrenching at the same time... I think it would make me miss my guy even more.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wouldn't this be amazing for our soldiers...I would have loved this when my husband was in Iraq. I already hugged his pillow everynight and sent him a pillow case with my face one it. But this, this would have been like giving him a hug everynight.

    ReplyDelete
  31. swoon! that is so sweet/sad. I would definitely miss my boyfriend ten times more, but knowing you're both thinking about each other at the same time would be so nice.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I find this both hilarious and kind of creepy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Cute! Unfortunately I could see it making people crazy - nothing could make long distance more stressful than keeping tabs on when their partner is getting home/to bed!

    ReplyDelete
  34. But what if the pillow didn't light up one night... then you would know that they didn't make it home. Then you're up all night long worried/pissed.

    ReplyDelete
  35. so cute and romantic (at first), but i can definitely see some issues that might develop...haha!
not the intent at all, but that's life!

  36. In spite of the fact that the whole concept is kind of weird, my heart melted a little watching that video and my eyes get a little teary. I'm such a sap. Long distance relationships are hard! I'm so glad that phase of my life is over :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ok, so I'm a party pooper. I think it's very strange. I wouldn't be able to sleep for laughing.

    xoxo,

  38. Oh my goodness...I'm slightly embarrassed but I teared up a little while watching that clip! haha! Also...the girl looks so familiar! I think she might have played 'Dawn' (Pam's character) in the original BBC series "The Office".

I've always said I'd never do long-distance relationships (I know, never say never..), but if I ever tried, this would be so cool to have!
(unless it keeps beating all night and I can't sleep haha)

    Nice one

  43. My goodness, this is amazing! When my husband and I were engaged, and across the Atlantic from each other, his parents got us pillows with each other's photo on them. I loved it!

    ReplyDelete
  44. how romantic!! though i agree with you, i would wonder about any health risks with all of those wires and sensors!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Awww the concept is really sweet! We did the LD thing from England to Texas so my pillow might have glowed a bit early! ha!

    ReplyDelete
  46. awww what a sweet concept.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Is that for real?! That's pretty cool, really.

    ReplyDelete
  48. what a great idea! I was in a long distance relationship for over a year and I would have loved to have this pillow.

    ReplyDelete
  49. This is unbelievable! So cool.

    ReplyDelete
  50. If my husband and I had this while he was on tour, I don't know if we would be married today. I can imagine sitting there at 4am waiting for that d*mn pillow to light up.

    ReplyDelete
  51. This is very romantic but my bf works super late at night and I think it would stress me out knowing he wasn't resting! I do sleepy with one of his t-shirts as a pillow case, though. Makes me feel like he's still close by.

    ReplyDelete
  52. It's a cute idea, but I think the sound of the heart beat would keep me up!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous11:09 AM

really? i think its one of the most disturbing things i've seen in a long time. no offense meant to anyone, its just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  54. So romantic! It would be even sweeter if you could get the pillow to smell like the person too. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Creepy product, creepy video, creepy couple. But whatever floats your boat!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hmmm. Not sure i can get on board- I think it might creep me out to hear a disembodied heart beat!

I do like the light up factor (like a gloworm, remember those?!) BUT agree with the commenter above that waiting for your pillow to light up might drive a girl crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I saw this a few weeks ago and secretly thought it was so precious {everyone around me was hollering about how creepy it was}. I agree with you, I think it's romantic

    ReplyDelete
  58. How sweet! My boyfriend and I are 10,000 miles apart (I'm in the U.S. and he is in Australia). I would love this--even though we sleep at opposite times of the day. Luckily, I will be returning to Oz soon, to be with him.

    ReplyDelete
  59. very cute idea-but i wonder how close you need to be...

    ReplyDelete
  60. natalie, that's hilarious. it would be so great for soldiers--except for the time change!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Anonymous11:50 AM

I think that this is partly weird but mostly problematic. Feels rather Big Brother-ish.

    ReplyDelete
  62. So cool and so creepy all rolled into one!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yuck, yuck, yuck and oh yes, yuck. Completely creepy!

'Where were you last night??? My pillow didn't start glowing till 3am!!!!'

    ReplyDelete
  64. I am fascinated!

    ReplyDelete
  65. wow, I'm in a long distance relationship and I got all teary thinking about how sweet this is. Probably not for every couple (obv a few commenters have trust issues), but would be awesome for us to feel closer to each other!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Super creepy, yet, super awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Aw, this is such a cute idea! I'm in a long distance relationship and I have to tell my boyfriend about this! Thankfully for us, we live in the same time zone so we go to sleep around the same time too.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hmm. I think they should market this to military spouses. As one I'd love to have this! Even though my husband is in a different time zone right now I still go to bed close enough to his bed time. I wonder if that light would wake me Up though. ?

    ReplyDelete
  69. LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea. I want one!!! It'd be great for when my hubby goes off hunting for weeks at a time!

    ReplyDelete
  70. thats so cute! :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. i wish i had had this when boyfriend and i were long distance! love it!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Long distance is the pits. This idea kind of seems a little sad-ish... like the person would feel more lonely in loco partner? Is it just me?

    ReplyDelete
  73. I want one. My honey is deploying again in a year and I can't stand the idea of sleeping without him next to me!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Really? Haha, I think this would drive me crazy! I have to cover my alarm clock to fall asleep, so a glowing pillow would just be irritating for me. And I don't recall hearing my partner's heartbeat when we sleep together, I don't use him as a pillow... The idea itself is adorable, but I would never want to use one of these. As much as I wanted my partner around when we spent 5 months long distance, I kind of liked having a big bed to myself!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I wish I had know about these when my boyfriend and I were long-distance from California to Kentucky!

Now we're happily down the street from each other :)

    ReplyDelete
  76. This is an adorable idea, but... I don't think I could sleep well. It would remind me too much of "The Tell-tale heart."

    ReplyDelete
  77. I am not even in a long-distance relationship and this made me tear up. So sweet! Although, knowing me I would probably stay up too late waiting for my sweetie to go to bed. Not out of mis-trust, but just because I wanted to feel like he was with me.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Mai-ke1:22 PM

This is such a amazing idea! Even though we got 7 hours time difference and we aren't going to sleep at the same time, I would love to have such pillows :)
or maybe a miniture thing to put on my desk... :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. not sure about this one. did make me giggle, though.

  80. ooooh! it's so romantic!...but that's a pity that I haven't got a boyfriend...:(

  81. Oh, man! They should have invented this a few years ago, before I came to the States to marry my American man, haha. We had a long distance relationship for 3 years and 3 months! We saw each other 3 times (a total of 30 days) before we got married :p.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Equal parts bizarre and incredibly romantic. So much for telepathy between couples!

  84. This is so sweet. If we were still long distance I would jump at this.

I agree with Mai-ke: Maybe a little light up ball on your desk when one person with the ring touches it, the other far away glows and lets their faraway love know they're being thought of.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Just started crying over this. My 5-year long distance relationship ended in March and I'm still so sad about it. This is just the sweetest.

  86. Anonymous2:06 PM

I'm in a long distance relationship and I think I might be too embarassed to suggest this to him haha. I like it instead that he just texts me goodnight and I love you right before he goes to bed every night :)

Also, watch the trailer for "like crazy", it looks like a really cute/sad movie about long distance relationships

    ReplyDelete
  87. Anonymous2:09 PM

What an incredible gift for all of the military wives. Anyone who could be disturbed by this clearly hasn't said goodbye to her husband for a year. Even if the pillow began to glow when I was getting ready for work- it would be such a gift to have that peace of mind.

    ReplyDelete
  88. That is so sweet, I got all teary-eyed and my husband's sitting right here next to me! Guess all those years of long distance made me a little sensitive. Love the idea.

  89. Welp, this is the sweetest & most romantic idea ever. I'm about eight and a half months away from marrying my sweetheart who lives a couple hours away. Not the longest long-distance relationship, but I do miss him. I would love to cuddle up with a glowing pillow (:

    ReplyDelete
  90. This is incredibly sweet!
I wish I had one of those when I was in a long distance relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  91. For the first ten years of our relationship my boyfriend and now husband was in a band. When he was touring in Europe we wouldn't see each for months and this was before international cellphones! These would have been great! Although, not sure if he'd be able to pull it off in front of the other dudes in the band. He would have to make up a macho lie about why his pillow was glowing and beating :)

    ReplyDelete
  92. I wish someone would have came up with this 4 years sooner! SUCH a cute idea, hope it goes up for sale soon so I can purchase!

  93. kaela d.3:25 PM

oh my gosh that is SO sweet and if both people are romantics I'm sure it'd totally be a hit.....but I can also see it possibly causing some "why is it so late and you're still not in bed?" drama lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. I can't stop laughing! Seriously, it's really some kind of lo jack for your lover, right? How could you ever fall asleep if his pillow never lit up? First I'd be mad, then scared that he was in a car accident then I'd go crazy thinking he was having an affair.

Silly pillow but thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  95. 2 pillow talk, please! :)
    love it...

    ReplyDelete
  96. how awesome is that! i think though i would constantly stay away staring at the pillow wondering about my other if the heart was too fast, too slow. but then thats the overthinker in me. :)

    ReplyDelete
  97. oh, i love this idea. my husband and i have been living apart for a year - and we've only been married for a year too! this week is our last week apart, we're moving 8000 km to be together (the removalists are here now!) but this is such a beautiful idea. it would just help to feel close to each other while you sleep, which is one of the loneliest times when you are apart! this make my heart warm :)

  112. romantic and really one of a kind!
    (safe?)

    ReplyDelete
  113. I highly doubt it would work for ALL. unless this thing has a satellite phone and a billed everything minute it wouldn't work for us LOL (He's at sea! no cell service in the middle of the ocean)

maybe 17 years being a Navy wife has made me think it's a bit too much if you are still safe and likely in the same country.
