I Believe I Can Fly
Have you guys seen this astounding trailer for I Believe I Can Fly, a 40-minute documentary about a group of insane French guys? They created "skylining," a new European sport that combines tightrope walking, slacklining and base jumping. They walk tightropes across skyscrapers in Paris, gorges in southern France and fjords in Norway. They do cartwheels right off mountains. They're caught by safety ropes or parachutes--although at the end, one guy does a spine-tingling "solo" without any safety equipment, just himself, balancing on a one-inch rope. YIKES!
P.S. Ten best documentaries.

Egads. That would so not be me. I'll have to find thrills elsewhere!
I've watched this trailer a few times lately as I can't get over the awesome views and the incredible bravery. Have a great day, Joanna. xo
yes, that would never be me!! :)
in life, i suffer from one only irrational fear: hights!!! I cannot watch these things without hiperventilating...
Makes me so nervous just watching this. Crazy guys indeed!
"I believe I would die!!!"
This freaks me out just from the photo alone. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's cool but - Yikes!
Yes! So weird. this is already in my weekend link post for friday. Love it though!!
Encroyable - as the French have it...
The trailer alone made my stomach hurt, I don't think i could ever sit through the whole 40 minutes. I'm terrified of heights!
eeeks that made my palms sweat!! looks so scary!
these guys are NUTS! but SO entertaining! i'll definitely be watching this one. thanks!

Don't think they invented skylining. American rock climber Dean Potter has been combining slacklining and base jumling, as well as slack lining and free soloing for a couple years. There's a film out about his craziness too!
Whoops I meant base jumping and free soloing, not slacklining and free soloing.
I haven't seen this one but it seems to be a lot like Man on Wire. Eeks, those types of documentaries make me nervous just watching them!!
I have seen this trailer and it totally makes my stomach turn. My husband however wishes he could base jump like this. NO thanks!

can we talk about how cute they are? HELLO!
I was watching that this weekend during our Vimeo marathon. I'm not a big fan of "almost dying" hobbies. Freaks. Me. Out.

That is amazing! I love skydiving, but this looks nuts!!!! :D Thanks for sharing!

How terrifying and invigorating at the same time! I definitely want to see it.
I rock climb, so I am used to being up high, but this freaks me out! It is filmed beautifully though, thanks for sharing!
OMG just watching this freaks me out and gets me high on adrenaline.
this looks amazing!

A part of me wants to show this to my husband because I know he'd love it, but the other part of me is scared because i"m afraid he'll want to join the Frenchies and then there goes my husband lol.

Oh my god that was amazing!
I'm kind if afraid of heights and I was holding on to my chair even watching the video. I can't even imagine what it must feel like been on that rope!
Thanks for this Joanna!
there is absolutely nothing that would make me do this...and to think they're laughing..aghh!
I'm on the edge of my seat... *faints*
my palms literally started sweating when i watched this! looks awesome :)
oh this is insane and so amazing!
omg i got serious vertigo with some of those shots. people are crazy!
my tummy still feels funny...
My heart was beating rather fast while watching this trailer. Gaaahh!
OMG that's insane! Both in a good and in a bad way! O_O
This looks like a beautiful film! It also makes me grateful that I can find my "thrills" in safer ways, you know? :)
insane & courageous!
haha that's really creazy! I'm living in the mountainous region of France: French Alps, and you know what, when monday comes, the only things that these French dudes talk is the VTT (mountain biking), skiing (if there is snow), hiking, jogging, climbing, jumping and bunch of mountain related sports lol after I had the opportunity to go to the Alps a few times for hiking, I understood them better, the Alps are amazingly beautiful, they are born into this life style...

Awesome!
And the band playing in the background is one of my faves! It's a Canadian band called Rural Alberta Advantage. Check'em out if you liked the tune.
double yikes!
imagine being the mother of one of these guys. aghh!
gorgeous and exciting. (understatement on the exciting).
thanks for sharing Joanna! here's a promotial video for Nordhordaland (a part of Norway) that my director-friend just made. It is hillarious and has some amazing natur in there too! I hope you like it (and care to share it with others!) http://www.gadling.com/2011/11/14/video-of-the-day-from-nordhordland-with-love/
For some strange reason I always think of their mother's and feel sorry for them. Why risk life for this, can't he just at least wear the dam parachute!
I admire their carefree and courageous spirit, and the scenery is stunning ... but I wouldn't breathe the entire length of the film!
Omg. I could hardly watch the trailer! I'm totally terrified!!
Good gracious, my heart was in my throat just watching this! I can't stand heights, I'd be a wreck just being that high up on the mountain! These men are so brave, and this documentary looks amazing. (:
slacklining in itself is hard. i can't wait to see this. incredible.

Yikes. I am dizzy and shaking. Nuts!
Watching this is getting all the adrenaline pumping through me. I'd love to try something like this sometime, though a little less extreme perhaps. But, wow, the view up among all that fog is just incredible
Whoa. Terrifying and insane. Certainly got my adrenaline pumping and I'm just sitting here at my desk in my fluffy robe drinking coffee. That's about as adventurous as I need to be though.

3 American women in Utah combining slacklining, base jumping and rock climbing. So inspiring. I get chills everytime i watch it- I would love to try it!
I'm not sure if I could ever do it- but it's so inspiring/invigorating to watch.
I love towards the end of the trailer when the girls are just laughing sort of hysterically- I imagine upping the stakes like that would lead to all sorts of interesting emotional reactions.
So so cool. Thanks!
Oh my goodness. I feel more alive just watching them! I'd never do that for real, but I would definitely watch. :)
these guys are insane!
