Do or don't: Knee-pad tights

A couple years ago, I had a pair of knee-pad tights. They looked so cute with a dress or skirt, and I happily wore them to movies, dinners and parties. They made me feel pretty. Don't they remind you of something Zoe Deschanel would wear?

They ended up disappearing into the laundry, but I'm excited to get another pair for this holiday season. Thoughts? Would you wear them?
P.S. Remember these sexy tights?

  2. Nope- the jokes would be endless. I would wear Elbow pads though - that's a completely different story.

  3. Na... I'm gonna go with don't! : )

    ReplyDelete
  4. Hmmm.... I am afraid those aren't for me.... Look cute on the models, though!

    ReplyDelete
  5. I think they're adorable but if I wore them, I'd look pretty ridiculous. I'm too short to fancy up my leggings hehe

  6. Elbow pads yes, knee pads no.

As mentioned above, the jokes would be endless.

  7. I'd say a don't - I love when sweaters have elbow patches, but to me, these girls just look like volleyball players!

  8. I think they would only work on models with very long and very slim legs. Also only for people with a very high tolerance for BJ jokes from random men and rowdy teenagers on the street.

  9. I love these! I used to wear them daily, back in my good 'ol equestrian days.

Sadly, I don't think they're stroller chic in my neighborhood. :( Darn.

  10. Ugh! So stinkin' cute :)
Plus, Zooey could sell me on anything.

  11. LOVE the knee pad tights!

  13. they'd be cute on you! you need the long legs to pull these off

  14. I think they are so cute! I am getting ready to make a pair for my daughter.

    ReplyDelete
  15. definitely DO, i love them! :)

...and get your mind outta the gutter people. ;)

  16. yeah, I don't know about those. Kind of cheeky but not my thing.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I do not love them for regular wear, but from time to time they would be fun to add a flair to an outfit.
    Much love,

  18. So cute! I don't think I've ever seen anyone rock these but I think it looks charming and girly (yes very Zoe deschanel). I wish I could pull them off!

they look cute, but for me it would be a don't...

    ReplyDelete
  20. No, don't like that at all...

    ReplyDelete
  21. A bit too adorkable for my taste!

    ReplyDelete
  22. LOVE the idea... but couldn't pull them off! I am however in love with that sweet little black dress in the second pic! Fabulous.

  24. Usually I'm all over that sort of thing but I don't know about these. I don't think they're that flattering.

    ReplyDelete
  25. they look like fun tights! i wore knee pads every day when i was working with penguins (lots of crawling around catching penguin chicks and angry parents) - these are much more fashionable! though, probably not too protective for penguin wrangling.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Cuter in theory than in practice. No.......I can hear all the snide remarks now. Noooooo.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nope. This is just not flattering...and maybe trying a little too hard to be interesting.

I'd wear them...IF I was your age or younger...Unfortunately though I thin with long legs I'm too old :-)

  29. Super cute! I say yes. If you are ever waffling about something else (fashion, furniture, even a parenting decision) I would love to feature you on my blog, The Waffler. Readers submit their "waffles" (dilemmas) and I create a post with a poll at the end for other readers to vote their favorites. My readers have given great advice and it's fun to see the results.

  32. I AM all about elbow patches... maybe knee ones won't be too far behind.

I think it's much too twee, unless the wearer is under five years old.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Love the first look!

    ReplyDelete
  35. For me, this look lost its cutesy-appeal when Lindsay Lohan did a collection of leggings with knee pads back in '08. *shudder*

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm gonna have to say no. I think it looks starnge...the light color draws your eye to her knees. I would want to elongate my legs and I don't think this does the trick.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would have to say a no. Yes, I'd be afraid of all the jokes but I'm also just not a fan. If you want cute tights I'd suggest the patterned ones at Anthropologie. Also I agree that elbow pads are the way to go.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The ones pictured are from the uber cute company Hansel from Basel I feel if you wear them with confidence - age makes no difference! I love them!

    ReplyDelete
  39. If executed correctly...a do!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm gonna go with yes on the top pair, and not-so-much on the bottom pair. I think I like how the rest of the outfit works them in!

    ReplyDelete
  41. The first outfit is adorable! I think overall I like elbow pads more, but this is still very cute!
    xo

    ReplyDelete
  42. I would have to say no to the tights, but yes to the cute black shift dress shown in the second picture. Super chic!

  44. I had a pair but got made fun of WAAAY too much:) I think I'll go with a cute sweater with elbow pads instead:P

  45. full length, or footless, but NOT those thigh-highs! ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  46. no!!!
    i'll vote for don't.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think they're cute. I love funky tights!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thats something new to me, its very cute but i like the dark tights with the white patches better

    ReplyDelete
  49. do!!! I love these, so cute.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yes! I would love to wear these. I think they are so cute! And they'd look adorable with a new polka dot dress I just bought :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hm, I don't think I could pull them off. I'm weird about stuff like this-- don't like elbow patches either. They both seem unnecessary and odd additions to me! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Not for me, but definitely for my little girl.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I really like the dark-colored knee-pad tights, but the white ones look more like they have holes in the knees than pads. The dark ones are pretty cute!

    ReplyDelete
  54. i say do.. fashion is about play and finding inspiration in the most unlikely of places.. i kind of dig seeing photos of myself in crazy outfits from two, three, ten years ago. it means i played, it means i was fashion-courageous.. if you like them, wear them. (p.s. love your blog!)

    ReplyDelete
  55. I really love this idea! It's very reminiscent of "old man" elbow patches on sweaters which are always amazingly cute. Really cool!

  57. I think if you wear them you will be confronted with endless innuendo! They are super cute though.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Zooey* (Like "Franny &") :o)

But seriously, they are so pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I think these are a no-go for me. My legs are waaaay to short to have a contrasting color at the knee breaking them up and making them look extra stump like. I think I'll stick to elbow patches since I'm not quite as worried about stubby looking arms:)

    ReplyDelete
  60. aw someone thought to put the pads on the KNEE instead?? i think it's adorable and brilliant :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. I don't know...I think they're cute but they're definitely not for anyone :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. I say YES! If you can do elbow pads, you can do knee pads! Super cute. :)

  66. i love those white/nude ones!

    ReplyDelete
  67. These are adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Usually I love your style but this is a definite NO for me! Knees are generally ugly, why emphasize them with a big ol' circle? Also agree with other commenters about endless knee-pad/bj jokes!

    ReplyDelete
  69. no no..please don'T.

    ReplyDelete
  70. i think they would have to be styled perfectly and only in black.

I know way too many guys and I turn bright red just thinking about the comments they'd come up with if they saw a woman wearing "knee pads".

I'd stick to elbow pads on blazers and old man sweaters, and keep away from this...unless you want every man you pass on the street (and probably many women too) to wonder whether you give good head.

  75. don't. But I love elbow patches sooooo much.

    ReplyDelete
  76. haha, i'm definitely in the minority here! :) i still love them. also, i'm such a nerd and didn't get why they would be "funny" and prime for teasing, until reading down the comments....ahhhh, i get it.

    ReplyDelete
  77. love the look in that first photo, but yeah...all I'd be able to think of is naughtiness. hubs would probably like them, though.

    ReplyDelete
  78. these are so cute! i really want a pair!

    ReplyDelete
  79. They're adorable and I would totally wear them! I have drawer overflowing with tights though, and I think I'd get in trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Omigosh, no. So maybe my mind is in the gutter, but so are a lot of other people's... I immediately thought of the wrong reason a lady would need knee pads...

    ReplyDelete
  81. I definitely think they are quirky-cute but would be hard to pull off for me!

    ReplyDelete
  82. A victorian palourmaid's dream, but my knees do not need drawing attention to!! You are braver than me, but probably have spiffier pins!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Where can I get that amazing coat in the first picture?!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Oh no no no.... these are just wrongo. I"m actually laughing right out loud at them.. There's fashion darling and then there's just, well..... just plain over the top silly.

  88. Wow! I have never seen knee pads on tights! I do have to say, I don't have enough guts to pull this move off but kudos to those of you who can :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. I don't think I could pull them off, maybe at home alone for a cozy movie date.
A more important note: Where do socks/underwear/tights go in the laundry? Can someone please do an investigation on that, I don't get it!

  90. No, no, no, and no. Step away, please.
