My friend just received a birthday card from Bill Murray (his hero!) and inside he wrote "grab this day and kiss it" the quote is now a tattoo! I love ink that is something one should always remember.
The only thing I can think of is how much it must have hurt to have that bony an area tattooed! Still, a beautiful quote to live by. Love Regina Spektor.
i love it. however, i feel like i can't "steal" it because i'm married. i don't know, i kind of view my husband as my prince charming, like, "oh, you saved me!" in a silly, romantic kind of way. i am pretty independent, which is the vibe i get from the quote and why i like it. but i guess it doesn't quite jive, either. oh well, i think it's cool anyway and looks gorgeous on the woman. thanks for sharing, J!
As much as I think it is pretty and I do like listening to Regina Spektor, I can't say I agree with the quote.
Isn't our need to be saved one of the things that makes us human? Sure, this can lead to the wrong attitude and looking for a savior in the wrong places (which often ends up harming us), but that doesn't mean we close our mind to the deep needs inside us just because they can hurt.
Isn't our very vulnerability, our fragility and inability to really control much of even our own lives, part of who we are? The incredible things is the our beauty in the midst of frailty and finiteness.
Am I the only reader of this blog who thinks these things?
BETHANY: agreed. you are not the only one who thinks that. perhaps we do need saving from some things, and in some ways. I think we are the main character in our stories, but not all stories have heroes or happy endings. Struggle and salvation are things that make for good stories... but, that said, the tattoo is lovely, and a sweet sentiment in some ways, too.
Joanna I LOVE all your tattoo posts. Just like vacations, I'm always dreaming about my next one.
I think she has a lovely sentiment behind her tattoo. I may have gotten the same thing before marriage because it promotes such strength and independence
Now that i'm smitten by my man - i'm planning on getting the image from Shel Silverstein's book "the missing piece meets the big O" (what i believe to be the most comprehensive book on relationships ever written)
The two circles are still about independence and being oneself (just rolling along together)
I love this song from regina spektor!! Did you ever see 500 days of summer? (My favorite movie) The way this song was placed in one of the scenes is perfect!
These words break my heart. They are nothing more than a smokescreen attempting to mask the true self. What are we if not imperfect beings in a constant cycle of struggle and triumph? And what good does it do to deny ourselves the help of others when we all, at some point or another, need to be saved?
I think that to be one’s own hero would make for a lonely life. Maybe someday, if this girl is lucky, the branding will fade and she will allow herself to accept the kindness extended to her by an everyday hero. Surely that would make for a better story.
That is the exact tattoo I want to get! How funny! I don't want to get it on my neck but rather the inside of my arm in white ink. Ever since I heard the song from (500)days of summer I've loved the quote. thanks for sharing! :)
i have a tattoo on my back, which has unfortunately become rather popular, it is a dandelion that splits and turns into birds. it is supposed to represent wishes coming true. despite the fact it has suddenly become popular, i adore it. i am going to get it extended when i next go back to the canaries so the birds come all across my shoulder too, just to make it slightly different than the trend!
that's beautiful, i love it. i have a black silhouette of a hummingbird on the inside of my left wrist, in honor of my grandmother, who loved them and passed away 3 weeks after i got it.
Wow! how nice photo you have posted in your front page. And you are lucky or your website is the lucky one that so many has share their views with you.. Quote of the Month

Yes. Beautiful indeed. There's something very artistic and inspiring about tattoos, if they are done well.

beautiful tattoo and statement. we need to remember that more often.
regina spektor... i remember the song from the (500) days of summer soundtrack. quality music.
If she needs a tattoo to remind her that she's in charge of her own life, then I fear that she needs much more than ink to save her!
As much as I think it is pretty and I do like listening to Regina Spektor, I can't say I agree with the quote.

Umm Joanna, so when are you going to get your tattoo?! You so obviously long for one. Do it!
Oh! Those are the lyrics to a Regina Spektor song that was on the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack! Or..it's just a coincidence.
i love this!!

Wow! This is new to me. A--dore!
beautiful. and i don't usually like tatoos. but regina spektor has been my favorite for about 6 years and the placement and type is so perfect!
