Spooky! Looks fabulous on her but I think you need a lot of confidence to pull this off. Otherwise, people are asking you, "What's up with your eye today?" lol
i walked by bloomingdales today and saw a man in the window painting eye-liner on a mannequin. if i were to try this look, i think i'd need a makeup artist, too.
Gorgeous when done right - scary when done wrong (which unfortunately is most often the case!) Maybe I could try it Halloween and if I fail, be Cruela DeVille?
I did this one time I was going out and my boyfriend of the time thought I was crazy... but later that night he said it looked good. Make up your mind guys! I think it is just a look that if not used all the time, people will need to get used to it.
I've been trying to perfect this eyeliner trick (let's face it, that's what it is) since 2001 without any luck. I usually end up with one eye looking great and the other looking like a fuzzy caterpillar has parked itself on my lid :) I still love the look though!
i've been wearing my eyeliner like this for a few years now and I love it. For extra drama I make it a tiny bit thicker, fluff my lashes out with 3 coats of mascara and put on a nice shimmer gloss.
I do this almost all the time...kind of my look. I'll never forget the day that I was at this small family run jewelry store and the grandson of the original owners, who was designing my engagement ring, said, "Your makeup is perfect. It's the way my mother wore it. She was so beautiful." He said it softly and with such nostalgia and love, I was left speechless. It was so touching...I can still hear exactly how he said it in my mind.
This is my very favorite way to wear eyeliner! I have tried out so many different brands and I just got a new one that I LOVE that stays on all day and comes off easily with remover its so good! I am blanking on the name of it but when I get home I can look and let you know if you are interested! Have a fabulous day :)
i'm coming to nyc for the victoria's secret fashion show. lisi of "the beauty file" is going to make my eyes up like this... so excited! i like ana's suggestion, big on the eyes, simple lips. :)
I do my eyeliner like this everyday (even for my conservative office job!). The tips aren't quite as sharp, but I use a decent liquid solid that is perfect for me (I tend to muck up anything using a brush).
One time the ladies at Sephora complimented me, saying "You're rocking that cat eye!" and I've never done it any other way. I don't use quite as much mascara, and I keep the bottom lid and lashes bare. I have super pale skin, and I think I look fab.
Ha, this has been my 'signature' going out look for over a decade!! It is such a stunning look for the eyes. Good to brush up a bit after all these years! Thanks Jxx
Winged eyeliner is my favorite; I would wear it every day if it didn't take me so long. My problem is that it's hard to make both eyes symmetrical, which drives me crazy. I wore it on my wedding day, although the person who did it didn't use liquid liner like I wanted, so that was kind of a bummer.
I actually have been wearing my makeup just like this for the last 6 years. :) I recently chopped off my brown locks into a black pixie, so i am finally experimenting with new looks, and it's so much fun! And DON'T BE AFRAID! The cat eye will never not be beautiful. xoxo, dash
barbra streisand has very uneven eyes but learned how to make them look symmetrical by winging her eyeliner- a trick she picked up from the drag queens while performing at the lion's den, a big gay hangout in nyc back in the day. just a tid bit of info about my favorite lady and why i wing my eyeliner just about every day!
it's trickier than it looks ! i love winged cat eyes, but it's tough for me to pull it off because i have droopy bedroom eyes. if your lids sag AT ALL, the line gets covered up.
You know who makes the best liquid eyeliner for this kind of look? The Body Shop, of all places!! Theirs is the only liquid liner that I'm able to get a crisp, straight line with. Must be the wand. Also, they make a really cool taupe shade that makes the look a bit less dramatic and gives it an unexpected twist.
I do a tamed version of this most days! I use a dark brown eye marker and wing it out just a little bit and I also don't start at the very inner corner of my eye-I start it more towards the middle of my eye...it's gorgeous and not too dramatic! I'm going to try this the next time I go out though! Love it!
I just bought this gel eyeliner that u apply with a thin brush.... and its not supposed to smudge... this is perfect for me to experiment with it... I love love love the one in the top picture...
Such a striking, classic look!A great trick is to clean up the bottom of the wing with a Q-tip dipped in concealer or eye makeup remover for a sharp line!
i tought of this http://vogue.globo.com/diadebeaute/2011/08/delineador-adesivo/ when i read the post. i've never tried it, but i think it could work for me - never got to do both eyes the same way with a regular eyeliner!
Ugh! I've been wanting to pull off winged eyeliner ever since Pan Am began but I can only get one perfect (and the other... not so much!) haha. Maybe If I constantly keep my head turned it will work.
This is my favorite way to wear liner when I am going out. I was recently in a wedding and asked the make-up artist to please put my eyeliner on like this. She looked at me and said I had "odd-shaped eye-lids" and "inherited dark circles" under my eyes and this was not a good look for me! I was so embarrassed and very self-conscience after that. It took everything I had not to get a tear in my "oddly-shaped eye." Oh well....I still wear it when I go out...I love it!
Love the cat eye look! I've been trying to pull this off ever since I saw Dominique Brown on Style Like U. http://stylelikeu.com/closets/dominique-brown/#leaf
Wow, this is so dramatic with her fair skin and blond hair. love it!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks super sexy and totally perfect for a romantic date-night. Kisses
ReplyDeleteSpooky! Looks fabulous on her but I think you need a lot of confidence to pull this off. Otherwise, people are asking you, "What's up with your eye today?" lol
ReplyDeletehaha, kiana, you're right, you'd definitely have to remember that "less is more" when you're applying the eyeliner.
ReplyDeleteNo one can rock this like Zooey Deschanel ... I try and try.
ReplyDeleteLove this look...I'm actually wearing it right now, only mine is a bit more subtle, with a thinner line :)
ReplyDeleteso chic, love it!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Winged liner is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteSo sexy! I may have to whip this out for Halloween!
ReplyDeletePIECE OF CAKE. PEACE OF MIND.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous when done right - scary when done wrong (which unfortunately is most often the case!) Maybe I could try it Halloween and if I fail, be Cruela DeVille?
ReplyDeleteWish I could do this perfectly. Hopefully this tutorial will make me look like a retro babe and not a witch!

This is how they do the eyeliner on Pan Am! What's old is new?
ReplyDeleteHave you ever seen "A Single Man"? Julianne Moore has the best winged eyeliner in that movie. I just don't think I could pull this look off.
ReplyDeleteI did this one time I was going out and my boyfriend of the time thought I was crazy... but later that night he said it looked good. Make up your mind guys! I think it is just a look that if not used all the time, people will need to get used to it.
ReplyDeleteI did that for my wedding day. I loved it. The husband was not a fan.
ReplyDeleteoh gorgeous natalie!!
ReplyDeleteit looks amazing on small eyes

It has a hypnotic effect on men, I have found:) Yep. And you can do a modified one for day if you're chicken.

ReplyDeleteI tried to make up in this way a few times but in the end I always looked like a panda so thank you for 'how-to' :)
