  4. haha, kiana, you're right, you'd definitely have to remember that "less is more" when you're applying the eyeliner.

  23. I've been trying to perfect this eyeliner trick (let's face it, that's what it is) since 2001 without any luck. I usually end up with one eye looking great and the other looking like a fuzzy caterpillar has parked itself on my lid :) I still love the look though!

I do this almost all the time...kind of my look. I'll never forget the day that I was at this small family run jewelry store and the grandson of the original owners, who was designing my engagement ring, said, "Your makeup is perfect. It's the way my mother wore it. She was so beautiful." He said it softly and with such nostalgia and love, I was left speechless. It was so touching...I can still hear exactly how he said it in my mind.

  28. Love Marci's story...

I love the lashes on this look. So retro and doll-like!

I have tried out so many different brands and I just got a new one that I LOVE that stays on all day and comes off easily with remover its so good! I am blanking on the name of it but when I get home I can look and let you know if you are interested! Have a fabulous day :)

  33. I do my eyeliner like this everyday (even for my conservative office job!). The tips aren't quite as sharp, but I use a decent liquid solid that is perfect for me (I tend to muck up anything using a brush).

One time the ladies at Sephora complimented me, saying "You're rocking that cat eye!" and I've never done it any other way. I don't use quite as much mascara, and I keep the bottom lid and lashes bare. I have super pale skin, and I think I look fab.

  37. Winged eyeliner is my favorite; I would wear it every day if it didn't take me so long. My problem is that it's hard to make both eyes symmetrical, which drives me crazy. I wore it on my wedding day, although the person who did it didn't use liquid liner like I wanted, so that was kind of a bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh, I wish I could, but my eyelids are strange and even makeup artists can't get it quite right on me. I'm jealous:)

  39. I actually have been wearing my makeup just like this for the last 6 years. :) I recently chopped off my brown locks into a black pixie, so i am finally experimenting with new looks, and it's so much fun!
And DON'T BE AFRAID! The cat eye will never not be beautiful.

  41. barbra streisand has very uneven eyes but learned how to make them look symmetrical by winging her eyeliner- a trick she picked up from the drag queens while performing at the lion's den, a big gay hangout in nyc back in the day. just a tid bit of info about my favorite lady and why i wing my eyeliner just about every day!

  43. it's trickier than it looks ! i love winged cat eyes, but it's tough for me to pull it off because i have droopy bedroom eyes. if your lids sag AT ALL, the line gets covered up.

You know who makes the best liquid eyeliner for this kind of look? The Body Shop, of all places!! Theirs is the only liquid liner that I'm able to get a crisp, straight line with. Must be the wand. Also, they make a really cool taupe shade that makes the look a bit less dramatic and gives it an unexpected twist.

  45. One of my life goals is to learn to apply liquid eyeliner (what can I say, I dream big). I love this look!

  46. Great find! I'm too intimidated to try though, but I love the effect!

  47. I do a tamed version of this most days! I use a dark brown eye marker and wing it out just a little bit and I also don't start at the very inner corner of my eye-I start it more towards the middle of my eye...it's gorgeous and not too dramatic! I'm going to try this the next time I go out though! Love it!

  67. This is my favorite way to wear liner when I am going out. I was recently in a wedding and asked the make-up artist to please put my eyeliner on like this. She looked at me and said I had "odd-shaped eye-lids" and "inherited dark circles" under my eyes and this was not a good look for me! I was so embarrassed and very self-conscience after that. It took everything I had not to get a tear in my "oddly-shaped eye." Oh well....I still wear it when I go out...I love it!
