What are you going to be for Halloween?

This Max costume is painfully cute.
Also, this lobster.
Also, this car air freshener.

What are you going to be for Halloween this year? Toby's going as a shark!

  4. I'd say my best costume ever was the year I dressed up as a dice (I painted a big cardboard box black, put spots on it for the dice numbers, and cut a hole for my head and arms). This year I'm running my fifth marathon (just completed Berlin!) on October 30th, so I'd say this year's Halloween costume is going to be "girl who can walk normally!"

  11. John and Yoko or Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. (No, I don't have multiple personalities, I just like for me and my husband to dress up as famous couples. Last year we were Dr. House and Cuddy but people didn't really get that one).

  17. So cute!! My son is going to be Obi Wan Kenobi and my daughter is going as a cupcake this year. I was hoping for something that would work together but they're getting a little too old for that (and have their own ideas of what they want to be). I'm sure Obi Wan Kenobi ate some cupcakes in his day, so I think it works!

  38. Oh my...that Max costume IS cute!! My little guy was Max last year. I made the costume and I have to say he was the cutest kid at school :) [I'm biased of course].
This year my boys will be a hobo and a gangster...lol. Both handmade again, so I need to get busy!

  39. Jennifer_NJ1:23 PM

Mandy, love that costume, but only if it was hot out.

I too try to encourage a group theme and something they can't be any other day (like I nix the sports players since we do that all week!) - my thirteen year old is such a doll and goes along. Last year my daughter was a bumble bee and boys were beekeepers. Very easy to make!

This year, daughter is a mermaid (think Daryl Hannah as Madison in Splash!), middle son is surfer with dreads, carrying a shark bucket, and slashes through his wetsuit. Hence, my 13 YO is Mitch Buchanan from Baywatch with Muscles, wig and whistle. Hope the Indian Summer continues in NJ. Enjoy the halloween fun!

  48. That lobster outfit is toooo freaking cute. My 3 kids are going to be a Star Wars theme. My middle child who is def the most stubborn of the bunch is Darth Vader-fitting, my oldest is Boba Fett, and my baby girl is Princess Leia- although we will see how long her cinnamon bun headpiece stays on since she's not even a fan of tiny bows!!
Halloween could be my most fave time of the year ever since I started having my kids!! How does one trick or treat in the big city BTW?? Do a blog post on that!!

  75. @Bronwyn - Umm, yeah, my husband and I are right with you on the nerd thing. He's dressed like the 11th Doctor since before Matt Smith joined the cast, so he just has to update his sonic screwdriver (he just has the 10th Doctor's). I'm going to dye my hair a bit redder and try to put together a reasonable facsimile of the Amelia Pond police officer kissogram outfit from The Eleventh Hour. We just re-watched that episode over the weekend for research purposes. :-P

  78. I so want to dress up for Halloween, but I don't have any reason to. We don't know too many people in the town we live, so we're not going to any parties. If I were to dress up, I think I'd go for a 60s mod look. My husband desperately wants to be a baroque dandy, so we'll have to make that happen one of these years.
