How old were you when you had your first kiss?

So for this Relationships Thursday, let's talk about kissing! How old were you when you had your first kiss? I was...

...the old age of 17. I was visiting my grandparents in England for the summer, and my cousins and I made friends with one of the boys who lived in the town. His name was Adrian, and he had messy blonde hair and a cute Cornish accent. One day, we went for a walk--just the two of us--and made awkward conversation, and finally, finally he kissed me. It was short but sweet, and I was elated.

My first boyfriend, however, was two years earlier: a funny, goofy guy at my high school. (That's us, below, going to homecoming!) We started "dating" sophomore year of high school, but I was too nervous to ever kiss him! I worried that I wouldn't know what to do if he kissed me--like how would I move my mouth? Was I supposed to do something with my tongue? It boggled my 15-year-old mind, so I just did the mature thing and...avoided it completely.

So, spill the beans: How old were you when you had your first kiss? Who was the lucky guy or girl? Were you nervous?
P.S. Remember this Joan Rivers trick?

I was 17 :) dating my high school sweetheart.
We were at a concert and it was magic. Later he told me he wanted the first kiss to happen of the front porch of my parents house that night when he was dropping me off. But he was not complaining.
now , 6 years later, we are still together, married over 2 years. He is the love of my life.
I love being married to my high school sweetheart <3

I was totally 'old' too. 16! :) My 1st boyfriend had a car. I'm pretty sure that was the only thing that made him cool.

I was thirteen and convinced into doing it behind the gym at school by my friends who'd all 'already done it'! The boy wasn't overly remarkable but I do remember walking home from school thinking 'wow, that's what my mouth is for'. I am happy to say kissing has improved ten-fold since that first toothy encounter!

I was 14, and it was with my then-new boyfriend (now fiance) - we were both so nervous it was absolutely terrible as neither of us knew what we were doing! We more than made up for it in the weeks/months following, though.

what a sweet first kiss story!

i can relate- was terrified of my first kiss. the thought of it sent me into total panic mode!

i eventually decided to trust that the moment would come, and it did, the summer before high school. It happened underneath a fireworks display with a boy who was visiting from ireland... he happened to be missing half his front tooth, but i think the accent made it sorta charming. i was over the moon!

Also, I never heard of Joan's tip. I think she may have something there. But if the person is not kissable in thought...then best not to try i

If kindergarten doesn't count, I think I was 13. We were on a marching band trip, but I don't remember the exact first kiss. I do remember my first kis with my high school boyfriend--who I ran into when he was working at Old Navy this past Sunday. I was there with my husband and our little nephew, and my bf from hs was right there in the fitting room the whole time. He was friendly, but that was a surprisingly intimate place to be with us as I was constantly in and out in different clothes!

I was 19 and in college. My crush and I were hanging out in my dorm room during a hurricane, with the power out. Somehow a pillow fight started and in the middle of it he kissed me. My brain: !!!. We've been dating since then and are getting married in a couple of weeks. So even if first kisses come late, they can lead to lots of great kisses after!

I was sixteen! It was sort of just a quick peck, my first real romantic butterflies kiss was a few months later, with my first boyfriend. (I was not his first girlfriend, but was his first kiss.)

R.L. said...

I was 18, and he was my first boyfriend. We'd been dating 1.5 years already and hadn't done anything. Prior I had tried to hug him but we were both shy and awkward so it only made matters worse. One day he asked, "So how does this work?" It was wet and slimy but we practiced and eventually got better :) Sometimes it can help when you're both newbies and you both know it!

I was fifteen. As long as you don't count the kisses I forced on my preschool crush "Patwick". At age 3 I was still working on my "R's".

I was 11 and in middle school. I was playing a game of truth or dare and I was so embarrassed that I ran away and when the guy that was suppose to kiss me found me near the hall by the cafeteria kitchen he smiled and said ive been waiting for this moment all year. I smiled (since I had a huge crush on him) and let him kiss me. We "dated" for a few months after that :)

And now I'm feeling a little fast . . . I was 11! But it was *serious* and we dated all through middle school. ;-)

I was 21 and totally embarrassed about it! The year before a group of my friends had whipped out the board game "Girl Talk" (remember that?!) and we started playing. I ended up with the question "Have you ever been kissed?" and went BEET red. I was so mortified--my guy friends started offering themselves up on the spot.

I was 16 and it was hilarious. He was a funny guy and knew I had never kissed anyone before (he was 19). After he kissed me I felt so terrified and he said "That was the best impression of a dead fish I've ever seen!" My mock-anger brought me out of my coma and I showed him what I was good for. :)

I was one month shy of 15. It was in the greeting card aisle at mervyn's (do people even remember that store??). I was too shy to kiss my then-boyfriend, too, and he had written me a note asking me if I was mad at him so the next weekend it just happened. I felt like everyone had been kissed but me, but looking back it seems so young!

My first kiss was with Brad Loomis when I was 12. He wore man-tank-tops. We were at summer camp on Orcas Island and he asked me on the ferry ride home if he could kiss me. I remember being so confused by how soft and girly his lips felt! Then I wrote him love letters from home and he never responded. Sigh.

I was thirteen and the boy was 15. Our youth groups had gotten together for a ski weekend at a mountain lodge. His older friends bet him money that i wouldn't kiss him that weekend...so when they were watching, I laid one on him (just a peck)! Then about 10 minutes later (after he had his money from the bet), when we were alone, he kissed me again...and it was magical!! We found reasons to run off and kiss that whole weekend, but i never saw him again:)

my first kiss was stolen. I was at church camp when I was 13 years old and I went on a paddle boat with another boy. He paddled us behind the willow tree, leaned in and landed on right on my lips. It was quick and to his suprise I was angry!

My next kiss was 8 months later to my second boyfriend, short and sweet, we broke up 3 days later :)

I was 14 and at home alone. My family was about to move across the country and my parents were having dinner with friends. The doorbell rang and when I opened it, the guy I liked was standing there. He said he had to do something or would regret it. He leaned in to kiss me but missed and hit the corner of my mouth and part of my cheek. His friends were waiting in the driveway and they left pretty quick. The next day at school, my last before the move, he walked me out to my bus. His aim was perfect.

Sadly, he broke up with me over Instant Message a few weeks later and asked if he could date my nest friend.... The romance was short lived...

It was a week before I turned 14 and I too, were worried about what to do with it....I was "in love" with the guy! It was in the playground of my building apartment and I was also worried that my mom would see us from the window so while he was kissing me I was counting the windows up to our floor to make sure she wasn't looking! LOL, He was like "Is something wrong???!
Later I avoided him completely so he wouldn't find out i have never been kissed before THEN my sister went and told him that!!! (more laughs)
He came to me and said so sweetly "I dont mind that you dont know how to kiss" and we kissed some more!

I was 14 and it was with my first boyfriend, Mike, a wannabe musician that kinda broke my heart. I got over it though, and moved on to better guys. The funny thing was that a teacher saw us kiss that first time, and promptly told my parents because they were friends. My dad totally flipped and tried to ground me, while my mom laughed in his face and told me to choose wisely... I find it hilarious now.

Thinking about my first kiss makes me teary. I was 18 and completely nervous. My boyfriend knew that I was nervous so we'd put it off for 4 months until one night we were driving and he pulled over to the side of the road and just leaned over and kissed me. We've been together for almost 7 years now, and last December as we were making cupcakes he gave me a pretty sparkly engagement ring. :)

I was 17, and so impatient to "get it over with". Where I come from in Norway, we usually went out in the nearest town and later got the night-bus back. One night I met this cute guy at the bus-stop waiting for the bus to take us back home and we started talking and continued to talk at the bus. At one point we stopped talking, and then in the blink of an eye he threw himself on me and kissed me like mad! Completely unexpected and since I was so shocked of the turn of events I didn't have time to get nervous and conscious about what do and when. Not the best kiss, but at least I knew what it was all about and the next one (with my first boyfriend) was way better!

My first real kiss happened when I was 15. I had been dating my boyfriend for 2 months and one day when he was over at my house, he told me in a serious (but cute) tone, "I think we should start kissing". It wasn't magnificent and I was left thinking "that was it???". After the first kiss, we kept having little kisses, experimenting with my different chap sticks. My blueberry chap stick was the winner, lol. We're not dating anymore, but we're still good friends!

My first kiss was at summer camp when I was 12 on July 4th under the fire works. The boy and I had been 'dating' for the previous summer so when the summer came around again and his brother was dating my friend and they kissed, I figured it was time to get my butt in gear and kiss too. I remember being really nervous and after telling him that if he told anyone I would beat him up - I was a bit of a tomboy. haha!

I was 17 as well. He was my hs boyfriend...but I use the word "boyfriend" liberally as it didn't last long. He kissed me in my car outside of a bowling alley...it was sloppy and unpleasant, and scared the crap out of me (probably why the relationship ended soon after that!)

Alie said...

Fifteen. There was a rule in my family that if you waited until you were sixteen to kiss a boy, you got $100. I got kissed at fifteen, and then AFTER the kiss, tried to up the ante by making the reward money $500. Even though the deed had already been done. And of course my parents found out and I was the only one of five kids to NOT get the money.

But he was totally worth it. Dread locked hair and in a band. He even wrote songs about me. Dreamy, no?

My first kiss was when I was 18, with my first boyfriend, a really nice guy who was totally wrong with me. It was during a school mixer (girls school! any wonder I hadn't kissed anyone?!) and I remember the song - I was mad at him for picking that song because it was a song about a guy trying to get a woman to leave her husband for him. He was totally baffled that I would be upset about the meaning of the song during our first kiss and said "I thought girls liked this song?!" Later he kissed me outside my car in the parking lot, and that was much better.

I was 17, too. And it's a great story. My friends and I were camping near our hometown and met some older boys who were cycling across the country. We arranged to meet them the next day at a different campground on the other side of our town. We brought them, strangely, cheese biscuits and sour cherries (I have no idea what the thought process was there). Everyone went swimming but myself and one other, who played my guitar and sang to me, and then kissed me. The only thought in my head was, "Oh, here it comes," then, "oh, there it was." Later that summer, my friend got a letter from one of them explaining who had and hadn't made it all the way, and we could barely remember their names! We were awful.

I was 22, and definitely anxious to get that first kiss just done and over with so I could join the rest of the kissing world. I was traveling through Europe with a friend, and we met a couple nice French guys our first night in Paris. The next night we met up with them again. After some awkward conversations (I don't speak French, he didn't speak English well), we went on a little walk by ourselves and he led me to a bench by a canal where he started kissing me. It was nice, and he definitely knew what he was doing. And I never saw him again :)

I really don't want my band director to watch the first one." And lo and behold, who walks by but my band director. He gave us a goofy smirk and left us alone. Thus I had my first kiss with one of my brother's friends in a hallway in my high school.

My first kiss was at 19, after going to a baseball game with my boyfriend and my parents (I know, double date with the parents, a bit weird and sweet).

He knew it was my first kiss, so he waited until he knew it was the right time.

Now (5 years later)we are happily married!

I was 16. We'd spent the whole day together (and even talked about it the day before on the phone, how cringey lol), but neither of us had kissed anyone before and were both too nervous. It got to just before I had to go home and I thought that if I didn't do something it might never happen. So I kissed him on the cheek and did a really awkward giggle and then he kissed me back on the lips :) I must have been so scared though, that I blanked out and couldn't even remember it straight after it had happened (still can't :(!) But I guess it was okay 'cause we're still together now :D

i am 19 and still haven't been kissed, it worries me sometimes, because i think i'm so behind compared to everyone else. And it's not really a religious thing either, it just hasn't happened yet. Sometimes i'm okay with that, sometimes i'm not.

I'm assuming you don't mean the time I kissed the neighbor boy when we were 6 at the end of his driveway?? BTW, "the neighbor boy" is now gay, and he's one of my best friends. We like to tell people our "first kiss" story ;)

Seriously, I was 21. And it was kind of a make-out session in bar! Ugh! I was def embarrassed that it was my first kiss, so I never told anyone.

21 and never been kissed. There is nothing wrong with her 27 year old friend, Susan! The last thing any of us wants is a pity kiss. The way I see it is if I've waited this long, I'm not going to waste it on something awkward and meaningless. I could have done that at 12 if I'd wanted to! Good for her for holding out for something special - there is never any shame in that.

I was 20! So glad to see other people were that old, I used to feel like such a weirdo. The guy was a horrible kisser but luckily I held out for better options after that. My boyfriend of 6 years is way better. :)

I was 19 and he was 25 (and a damn good kisser!). He knew it was my first kiss, and he was so sweet about it! He taught me all the tricks in the book, and the next guy I kissed (who was also a little older and way more experienced than I) said that I was the best kisser he had ever kissed! :)

I was in kindergarten, or the french equivalent, so about 5 or 6 and this kid put his tongue inside my mouth to kiss me, i guess, ( tss....those french boys ! seriously, tongue ?) and i hated it !! : D obviously, i told my mom that night after school, and explained that he tasted like soup ! ahahah : D she told everyone in my family and i was mortified evidently...then i waited until i was 19 and felt really inadequate and i have to confess i had to drink quite a lot to muster the courage. but the i loved it and couldn't stop kissing boys ; )

I was 20, and it was pretty awful! It was at a college party (polite way of saying drunk) and I brushed my teeth about 10 times in a row afterward. I think the first actual, genuine kiss I got was at 23 which was short and sweet. :-) To all the other late bloomers, my boyfriend thought it was cute that I didn't really know how to kiss.

I was 14, with my first real boyfriend. We had been best friends before that, and one night we were laying on the floor watching a movie, our heads on big pillows. We looked at each other and just slowly started moving in for the kiss.
When I say slowly, I mean SLOWLY. It felt like it took 20 minutes for us to actually kiss! But it was pretty great, I'm still friends with him today :)

13. Loved each other since we met at 6 but never said anything other than "Ewww."

Walking home together, our shoulders kept rubbning. Wanted to hold his hand so badly, thought my head was going to explode.

At my house he said okay and I said okay. We stared at each other and when I turned to see if we were alone, he kissed me and pressed a note into my hand before he ran away. It said I was his girlfriend now.

Later he was arrested for stealing a box of frozen shrimp at a grocery store.

Ah...young love.

Your first kiss story is magical! I'm not really sure what would count as my first kiss...the fact that I can't even remember which kiss was first shows how un-memorable it was! I was 15... one week before my 16th birthday. It was in a movie theatre, We saw a James Bond movie (the last one with Pierce Brosnan). The best part is that his parents were in the theatre because neither of us could drive! He was a sophomore and I was a junior.

And Joanna, this is so weird. You're first boyfriend looks just like a guy I dated a couple of years ago (I saw a few pictures of him from high school and they look eerily alike). And he is also from Michigan... totally bizarre.

My second "first kiss" with the boy I dated next was much better!

I was seventeen, three months shy of eighteen. He was my high school sweetheart, who I am engaged to be married to now (261 days :) ! I'm not ashamed and so happy that I saved it for him.

Funny story-I was hanging out with a guy when I was fifteen, and he tried to kiss me, but something inside of me said, "Not yet!!" So of course I did what was the logicial solution. I shoved him away, yelled, "Gotta go!", jumped out of the car, and ran into the house. I was mortified then, but find it quite hilarious now. :)

Wow, these answers are so sweet, makes me feel a bit scandalous! My first kiss was when I was 10 (!) on vacation in Nantucket with a bunch of other families. I was the youngest kid there (rest were 12-15) and someone had the idea to play truth or dare. I ended up being dared to kiss the son of my mom's college roommate. I was so embarrassed that I never told anyone. The first kiss I count was in 8th grade (age 14) with my first "boyfriend" who I think is in jail now. Not kidding.
My kissing life improved immensely at 26, when I met my husband!

I kind of had a first kiss at 15 as in our lips touched but it wasn't what I truly consider my first kiss at 16 years old.

A week into dating my boyfriend we were laying on the couch watching a movie and he didn't make a single move. I was dying because I so wanted him to kiss me. After the movie was over I called my dad to pick me up, then I turned to my boyfriend and said, "Are you going to kiss me or what?!" And he did and it was AWESOME!!!

When I was little I wanted my first kiss to be under the moonlight in a park. I also wanted the song "Kiss me" to be playing and I wanted to be wearing a skirt that was a cream fabric with designs of black and lavender chandeliers. But since first kisses usually aren't like movies mine was different than I imagined...

I was 15 and there was a big miscommunication about what kind of kiss it was... let's just say that I went in for a peck and he did not. I was really nervous about kissing after that and so I didn't kiss anyone until a year later and it happened to be the same boy. We dated for the rest of high school...not quite what I had always wanted it to be but it is still a great memory :)

I was 16 when my first kiss happened. I was "dating" this guy in high school, and two months earlier he asked if he could kiss me. I said no. What was I thinking! (I was thinking no because he hadn't even held my hand yet. I was so particular about the "timeline" it all should have.) When he asked me the second time, of course I said yes. But it didn't happen until he dropped me off at home, with my mom in the next room! I was mortified, but couldn't stop laughing. I was so excited. Silly to look back on. (:

I was 18 (so so old)and on a study abroad in London. On St. Patrick's day, my boyfriend decided we needed to go out. We rode the bus from Highbury to St. Pauls and walked out onto the Millennium Bridge. He kept awkwardly putting his arm around me (not like he normally did)and my hair kept getting stuck on something on my back. When I finally got sick of my hair getting stuck, I touched my back, found a sticker that said "Kiss me, I'm Irish" and my boyfriend kissed me.

he wasn't irish.

We both jumped so much that we clanked teeth!

It was a little traumatic. But it's okay, we got over it and now we're married!
