Dark red nail polish

New York suddenly feels like winter; tomorrow is even supposed to snow. Wouldn't dark red polish be gorgeous this winter? Sexy, dramatic and perfect with a wool sweater.

Would you wear it? What's the weather like where you are?

That color red reminds me of my mom, because that's her absolute favorite color to paint her nails. If she goes through the trouble of painting them, it's always that shade. I'd wear it, even though I'm more of a natural, coral-color nail girl.

The weather here is pretty, albeit chilly: it's a high of 50 today with a mix of clouds and sunshine.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I can't believe it's supposed to snow already! It's a little chilly in Chicago, but it was sunny yesterday, so quite lovely. I love the nail polish, but probably only for my costume.

Hmm, love the deep red on others, not sure if I would like on my own fair (read:super-duper pale) hands.

Here in Colorado, we had half a foot of snow two days ago, but should be in the 60s for the weekend. Just that time of year for up and down weather! (But the snow had me secretly listening to a few Christmas carols. Don't tell. :)

  125. This is so funny, I never would have guessed this polish was "wicked" because when I wear it (all the time in fall/winter!!) it looks like a deep purple. Do others notice that polishes can come out so differently on different people's nails?

Would love some other recommendations on polishes that come out more deep red!

I've been wearing Essie's Wrapped in Rubies. Its a gorgeous dark red that makes me feel perfectly ready for the colder temperatures.

  154. I'm about to face summer here on the southern hemisphere, but I do have a crush on OPI's Black Cherry Chuntey nail polish. It's almost black, but with a hint of dark red. And i do prefer OPI over Essie.

  155. Gorgeous color! I just got Essie's Carry On (a deep, plummy purple) and I'm dying to wear it, especially with cozy sweaters. If only I had a fireplace... The weather here in Germany has been freezing - I even had to break out my big down coat already, but this week it's mellowed out the perfect autumn chill.

  161. I bought dark red nail polish last year and fell in love with it. I also have dark red with little bit glitter (by Pupa). But in my mind, it works best in short nails.

Here in Northern Italy it's still quite warm (16C and sunny today!), it's difficult to believe that Christmas is getting closer..

  168. My absolute favorite shade of polish. I rock it even when it's not at all cool. It's ultra-sexy, inspired by the ox blood colors of the 20s - 40s. Total love.
